  • The advantages (and some disadvantages) to having a page buffer scheduled in advance! Unsurprisingly I'm all for this.

I couldn't agree more about having a buffer. Most of the time, I haven't had a buffer. But recently, I've been working on maintaining one. I find that since I'm not rushing pages out, I am adding more details and polishing the pages more, which helps me when I go back to edit. It's maybe not necessary for a web comic, but it's important for my own personal goals (and I print for conventions...when I start going again XD).
I also noticed I'm way less stressed/panicky about due dates XD It feels good not having as much pressure. I still procrastinate, because I must like pressure, but I procrastinate less.

That's true. I like to keep a steady pace with pages!

Honestly, a buffer is so important to productivity. I couldn't agree more.

I've been thinking about making comics and I just dont really have the idea of where I want my art to go, so imma just crush it out. (I'll mainly start with shorter comics)

hmmm its a good idea to put pages early on patreon.... I never thought of that other than wip pages, I post line arts on patreon... but once I finish my current 13 pages maybe I can just post my usual 3-4 a week and have it all available on patreon As soon as its done. hmm

Its interesting the mention of feedback. I think I kept having problems with motivation because when I am so into the pages I am currently drawing then I feel disappointed if theres no reaction right away but if there's a delay in posting it lowers my expectations and I can just be happy with what ever I get!

Yeah! I still schedule out for patreon rather than giving bulk page updates, just so it's paced out to be released a few weeks or so before it hits my other sites. I typically update once a week, but if I'm far enough ahead, I'll go for 2 times which I prefer, but can't always swing it. 😅 so I play by ear, but I *must* have a buffer for thr public. With my patrons I can just show them the works in progress so I'm less worried about having a buffer there, just that I need pages queued up ahead of public release. There's so many ways to do it! Idk how you do 3-4 a week but that's amazing 👏
