Excellent quality presentation. I’ve watched a half a dozen of your videos and I swore I subscribed after the first one, but realized today that I did not! So, SUBSCRIBED and LIKED! I had a C64 as a kid way back in the 80s, and my new TheC64 Maxi is supposed to arrive this Friday after being out of stock here in the states on Amazon for 10 months. Can’t wait, and now I’m binge watching all of your vids to see what new release games to buy 😁 A thought on the SID Player+, since it’s in a cassette case, turn the case all the way around so it sits up on the desk like an easel, then place the player back in it. Great display that way and allows the cables to go left, easy access to the volume at the top, and the buttons right on the front. Bit like how we used to stand our Walkmans on their sides on the desk or table. Keep up the excellent work mate, it’s well needed and appreciated!
Hey thanks for the great feedback. I am excited for you about getting the Maxi soon. I remember how excited I was for the product when I backed it in the initial fund raising days as I thought it would be perfect future proof solution that would stop me spending too much money on old machines (I was right about the first but way wrong about the second). I agree that the SID Player is a nice little bit of retro art that deserves to be displayed. The easel stand idea is great. I have mine attached to the wall.
Ah yes, the old arcades.... I spent lot's of time and lot's of quarters there. They were a chaos of music and sound. There I was, trying to concentrate on a game of Tempest with "body blow, body blow, body blow" and "Dragons' lair!" constantly distracting me. Good times.
I got the same vibe. I can't exactly tell from the video, but if it's a smidge smaller than a real cassette, then it appears it's inviting the owner/user to DIY their own casing for it, ala the pocket operators.
As i recall, SID Player play files in order they are saved on Sd Card. It's most probably windows fault for alphabetical auto-sort, when multiple files are copied. There is no LCD because of two things: they are too small to show full sid info, and without LCD, code is compatible with various STM32 microcontrollers, not just with STM32F411CC in what Edu has used. Software is open source, but it is breadboard project, made in Arduino IDE and just for the lulz.
I think you are right. When using the Mac, it seemed that the order was based on save date but when I contacted Edu to confirm he thought it was alpha. Its probably both based on what computer you use. This is where a LCD or some sort of manager software would be handy.
@@RetroGamerNation You could test by deleting all sid files from sd card and transfer it again one by one. Some sort of manager software is already there. All buttons have multiple functions. For example next button: single click is next tune, double click is next file, triple click is next folder, keep it pressed to disable channel 3. Edu simplified things in his version and hard coded only root folder of sd card. Anyway, i think that by shorting those two vias next to "+" is to enter bootloader mode, so you could upload code. Original source code is at github.com/Bakisha/STM32-SID-PLAYER , but i don't know if Edu used same recommended pinout for his "SIDPLAYER+" board. I know he planed to add small LCD display, but unfortunately he didn't find anyone to write program for him.
Ah thanks. There is a June round up but I am a still a few days away from finalising it as I wait to see if I can get some more exclusive content over the weekend to make sure its a worthwhile episode.
Soulless SE is great. But I do think that it should be avaible for sale separately from the Kickstarter. Paying 15 euros (which is the current tier at which you get it) for an upgrade to a game I already have seems off. Normally game fixes are available to game owners.
Does it play all of end of Spellbound, Lightforce or Alien Syndrome title SID tune properly or like theC64 maxi machine? I'd rather have a board I can plug a real 6581 chip into.
Hi Bruno, the TND website run by Richard Bayliss will be your go to place for this kind of thing. Check out tnd64.unikat.sk/SEUCK_Redux.html Thanks for your support as well
It was mentioned in the video - Soulless SE is only available via the Soulless vinyl kickstarter which ended a couple of days ago. But it wouldn't surprise me if Psytronik offer the digital version in the upcoming months.
Another amazing C64 Round Up video.. thank you! By chance, is anyone able to link the three original artworks displayed at the start of the pixel art section? ruclips.net/video/avqpWr-h63E/видео.html (Last ninja, keyboard, duck)
The duck picture i got from www.wallpaperbetter.com/en/hd-wallpaper-angul Last ninja I got from csdb.dk/release/?id=162501 Can't remember where the other came from
Sound not coming through for you properly? I made changes to audio format 12 months ago and it looked like it was resolved for everyone. Apparently not for you - what device are you experiencing the low volume on?
Euww, Arcade Daze looks really disappointing and not a patch on Lazy Jones. How big is the game file ? When they released Argus with 10,000 locations I was expecting multi disk not a single load. Looks like Arcade Daze is quite minimal and is also single load, this is disappointing because the potential for improved versions of every game was there (if they wanted to) and at least each game could have been different rather than there actually being just a couple of arcades with variants. Not the best start this year for Psytronik.
Arcade Daze looks like fun! It seems very reminiscent of Lazy Jones (including the music).

Ah thank you very much - hopefully I can continue to produce content that you will find of interest.
Same here.
It's funny that I can play sid files on my Android. Even make a phone call and browse the internet.

wow, thumbs up for the Dutch Blue👍🏻😁
I have really enjoyed watching your C64 Round UP videos!
Thank you for another quality upload :)
ahahah that muppets demos.
Thanks for this as always.
Nice Frogger action there...
Just bought Arcade Daze based on this video. Looking forward to buying Ski Free too.
The SID player reminds me of the Teenage Engineering devices.

Jumped directly from Apple][ compatible right to Amiga, never had a C=64, but it's making me want to join a demo team and make olderschool pixels :)

No round up for June? Can't wait.

Thank you - it's always worthwhile!
Another great video thanks

I have similar feelings on the availability of Soulless SE. I am thinking that it may be available as a general digital release eventually. We'll see.
@@RetroGamerNation I'm thinking the same. I hope their kickstarter goes well enough.

Wow. Again. Awesome.
czasem zadziwia mnie co jeszcze da się wycisnąć z poczciwego c64 (-: ?
Anyone know the cool soundtrack starting at 4.40 please be much appreciated thanks in advance. :)
Is the modified SEUCK aviable somehow somewhere? I was seuck addicted and at that time I d sell a kidney to have the side scrolling option ....

Arcade Daze is a fun game but the mini games are much the same.
Where do i find Soulless SE? I see Soulless on itch but no mention of it being SE?

@@RetroGamerNation ah i see. Sorry mate. Me again not paying attention in class!
Arcade Daze is really nice game - alredy completted:). Ninja Carnage Polish version in this moment is copied to 5,25" floppy:)
What's an "arcade queen"? Since when do girls hang out in arcades?
There's a girl at my local retro arcade who can definitely beat you at Joust!
The sidplayer + seems half finished
It definitely useable in its current state but just needs a couple of improvements to make it feel like a complete product.

What does this kid have in his hand? 🤣🤣😅
Umm...a joystick for waggling...hopefully he does not break it 😜

@@RetroGamerNation Thank you for checking, it's a great curation and I'd like to replicate it for my home.
The middle one is “Datazombies from Hell” by Archmage. Should be easy to find on csdb.

May round up? Yea, ok? Also why are you whispering?
