      I respect your commit but I just do not agree with it , as a person with a murdered family member I can honestly say I was of the same opinion , but I could never move on, It consumed me and ruined many relation ships, you just waste to much negative energy being pissed off all the time, people who forgive are not really forgiving the act for the murderer,they forgive them for them selves, because that weight is to heavy to carry and will eventually break every bone In your body.Forgive but never forget is not just a saying, but I will leave that to Individuals choice. Or even play in their own back yard or shallow pool in the yard without being snatched away by some nutter and never seen again. Has happened in the USA. Again it's not the parents fault. Sociopaths blame everyone else for their own bad behaviour. An unlocked car or house? It's their fault not mine that I broke in. An unattended child. It's their fault not mine. An unattended phone or wallet on a bar bench or table? Their fault again for being careless. They have no empathy, remorse, ethics or guilt whatsoever. Longer prison sentences might help. I really don't know how to fix someone like that who is broken.

    People saying who lets a 9 year old walk home. 1. It was from the bus stop, not school. 2. In the 90s it was completely normal to walk to school alone anyway. Everyone did it. Those days people were innocent, it was even normal to leave your door unlocked and to let the kids play outside with other kids as long as they were back home by sundown and dinner. Those times were very different and innocent. 3. Blame the guy, not the poor Mother. Ebony had just got off the bus and didn’t have far to walk to home… and kids SHOULD be able to do that without the worry of being unalived. M

      @@TheTrueCrimeChannelI personally think more needs to be done to address the issue of SA. In alot of the cases I'm hearing it seems the actual punishment for these crimes are just too lenient and doesn't take into account the knock on effect this has on the victim and in some cases these victims even become the perpetrator later in life sadly. The root of the problem needs to be addressed i.e. identifying individuals with these sick urges and working towards either ongoing change whilst monitoring them or keeping them behind bars. It's such a common problem, it's scary.

    I survived a triple murder. I was just 9yrs old. My Aunt, who sadly lost her life, saved mine by putting me in a cupboard. My two cousins lost their lives the same way as my Aunt. The justice system really shouldn’t be all that! The man who took my Aunt & two cousins lives was sentenced to just 15yrs, he served half that got out on “good behaviour.” My family chose to forgive him, I didn’t .. no way. He went on to murder an innocent 12yr old boy. If the system had worked then each of family members lives would have mattered, so life for each of them. That poor would never have been murdered.
    Ebony’s mum is correct, nobody truly understands unless you’ve been affected by it. The pain stains your soul, your life forever. I’m forever changed by what I witnessed. I pray for a better system.

The detective tried so hard to help them and to get him maximum sentence time but his hands were tied and he was so frustrated he couldn’t help them like they needed. I remember exactly where I was when it came on the news that Darcy had been thrown over the west gate bridge. I had only just driven across it about two hours prior. I froze. For anyone who doesn’t know, it’s a very high bridge. It’s windy and scary to drive across on windy days. I still can’t believe she actually survived the impact with the water. It would have been like hitting concrete. I can still remember that day. It was a very dark day in Melbourne that day. And for some days following it. The police woman who was first on the scene broke down as she tried to work on little Darcy. It’s was utterly heartbreaking. Especially when an inquest later found that at least two doctors know Freeman was violent, unpredictable and abusive towards his children but they didn’t report it because they thought the courts and police were taking care of that side of things. Devastating. Her mum, Peta, was so dignified and strong. RIP Darcy and all the other child victims. What an awful cruel world we live in sometimes. 😢

    What’s heartbreaking about Ebony, is the fact he just took her, tied her up and threw her into water! To sexually abuse that little girl, when he had children himself! What a fuggin monster!
    Mama *YOU ARE ALLOWED TO BE ANGRY, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO FORGIVE* you gave Ebony more justice than just sending him to prison by making changes! Hugs Mama!
    It’s amazing how quick Australian police acted, in America they’d say wait 24hrs!
    When everyone know the first 24hrs with a missing child is crucial!

    I'm not an Australian but half of my family are and the rest of us are in New Zealand. I've watched many true crime videos as I believe it's the least I can do for all victims. I feel terrible that I have never heard of young Ebony. I am 46 so I'm in her generation. When the bastard was saying what he did and hearihg her mothers pain had tears falling down my cheeks. Her parents and other members of their centre have accomplished so much and have helped countless people. I can imagine that Ebony was looking down on her parents trying to almost give them the support they desperately needed. The mothers brutal words are so needed because although I could forgive a lot I would never forgive someone who harmed my loved ones. I'm so sorry Ebony that you suffered before you died RIP little one.

    I knew Linda Stilwell in 1967 at Avondale Primary School. At the time of her abduction she had moved schools. I still think of her and her case, and of her family. It was felt amongst some local families that she was taken out of the country via New Zealand as no passports were required between Australia and New Zealand at that time. Hearing that police had checked boats on the area was interesting. I have always wondered whether the Dunedin lady once rumoured to be Jane Boumont could in fact be Linda Stilwell. She did look like her so I questioned it with Dunedin police and Russell Street at the time but was dismissed in both instances. I’m still not satisfied with that.

    @finnsnow2495 5 месяцев назад +1

    Crazy to think a child walking home is so controversial and the parents are more demonized than the actual killers. Like from age 7 I walked home from school which was about 30min and spent two hours home alone, I also woke up to an empty house and was alone for an hour before walking to school. This wasn't the 90s it was mid 2000s and I couldn't imagine having to be walked to school by someone. Even now it seems strange, my mother could not afford care and why would she? I could always take care of myself like I said I woke myself up, got ready and was never once late to school even during thunder and snowstorms. It's so sad children today are so leashed and sheltered because of cases like these. The impact from these killers so heavily impacts he world today that I knew of parents who got the police called on them for letting their 10 year old walk the dog by themself ( also crazy because I had a dog at 12 and not only walked it at 6am by myself but also took it to puppy school by myself). It's impossible to shelter your kids from such creeps, and it's hard to find he balance between children having freedom and safety. But, even if it was today and a parent let their kid walk home from school and something horrible happened to the kid I wouldnt blame the parents but the person who actually hurt the kid. Also people dont always have a choice like my mom didnt have anyone who could walk me even if she wanted to.
    Edit: Not super relevant but just to clarify. The parents would have some fault if it was like a 4 year old or a child that didnt have maturity to be able to walk home safely. Like if the kid ran out in front of car or jumped into a river and died that would be more toward the parents blame because they should know their kid wasnt ready to be independent. But, we are more talking about something out of the child's control of some creep snatching them which has little to do with how mature or independent the child is. Like even teenagers can be kidnapped by creeps. Like for me I was extremely mature I had been adultified very young but I know many of peers wouldnt be able to manage that or even walk 5 min from home without getting in trouble. All I'm saying is in situations like this blame the monster who hurt the kid and not the parent because the controversy about letting a kid walk home alone doesnt have a right answer. Your kid can be snatched from their bed, if a creep wants your kid they'll get them it's sad but it is true. Even with how hard it is nowadays, a few years ago a car pulled up beside a mother and daughter walking and snatched the daughter by force, ripping her from her mom and shoving her into the car, the kid was like 8 aswell. Should we blame the mom for not having the police escort her on a walk?

I’m not saying you shouldn’t be angry about what happened but having bitterness means you are forever thinking about thst criminal who took thst precious life. If you forgive him you are no longer chained to him. You can move on taking those precious memories with you
