  • This video is about Brushless Motor Shaft Replacement. Even slightly bent motor shaft on high speed brushless electric motors, can cause large vibration problems. The shafts are usually cheap but not always easy to replace. This video describes an original method of extracting the press fit shaft.

Great video, thanks! One question, which size should be the allen screwdriver for tightened the shaft?

I wrecked my qx 550 and the outer part of the motor is bent. Is it possible to hammer it back out or do I have to buy another from horizon hobby?

I wouldn't expect the motor would balance well after. Some fixes aren't worth the trouble

Some New Bells (outer part of the motor, containing the Magnets) can be found at HobbyKing.com.
Hope this helps, but a lot of times it's not even worth the prices they charge (nearly the price of a NEW Motor...!), and it most likely would not be balanced...!
(Just my "2-CENTS" worth, from an Old Fart...!). Haha!

I know I'm no hand model, I had really bad eczema as a kid. The steroid treatments recked the skin on my hands.
I hope the video helps save you a few bucks. Cheers.

Where do you purchase the shafts?

Banggood sells shafts! About a Buck each, and they even come with flats for the Prop-Saver attachment. I just bought 3 of them for my 2208 and 2212 motors.

@@noamamir0942 Both sizes (3.17 and 3.00 mm) can be found at Banggood.com, under the Aircraft Parts section. Or you might find them at Hobby King. (I bought both sizes from Banggood, along with extra bearings and clips, for less than $10 bucks with Free Shipping to the U.S.).
I don't recommend pounding the new shaft back in the Bell Housing, as it's really easy to have it misaligned like that...! And, make sure the shaft is aligned properly with the flats, for the grub screws!

Suggest losing the music and putting on a soundtrack.

It's an old video but you're right. A voice over would be much better.
