    Loved the video! I just got my first one 3 weeks ago!! I used to be intimidated by their husbandry but it’s just a matter of putting the time in to learn first. You helped with that and with the confidence to make the leap. Love and support.

      Wym? Just wondering bc my first snake is a Colombian female and the husbandry is easy but I’m in her enclosure everyday. I’m thinking about getting a blood python.

    Blood pythons are definitely one of my favorite snakes. Their intelligence means they're a bit more aware of what's going on but don't necessarily telegraph their intentions. This can lead to "misunderstandings" when the owner doesn't pick up on their mood, but I think that makes them more interesting and rewarding to work with.

    I’ve had my girl, Coco, since she was about 1-1/2 years old, and 1/4 of her current 6ft long, 35 lbs. She is very sweet and docile, but she is one of those vocal, huffy Bloods. The only time she has open mouth hissed was when a stranger to her tried to hold her. She wasn’t having it. She knows her people and doesn’t like anyone else messing with her!

    He's beautiful! I have a Ball and Corn snake but always wanted a boa but the more is see of the Blood the more I'm falling in love with them! Especially because of people like you who show that they are not snappy and with care (like almost any animal) they can be a great pet.

    Hey brother thank you for sharing your blood pythons with us. I just picked up a baby blood python almost 2 weeks ago from my local reptile shop and I’m really glad I did. I’ve been doing research on them and found your channel in the process and of course subbed 👍 you have some beautiful snakes man!

    Cool snake! My friend has 2 young Blood Pythons that act like they want to eat you. I hope they mellow with age so I can hang out with them some time. I have a Columbian Boa that is very sweet tempered. She loves to just hang out with people, crawl around and climb everything.

    My two favorite snakes are western hognose and blood pythons. Currently I have more hognose but after this season I plan on holding a lot back . I like how most of my hognose come out to see what I’m doing when I open their bin . But I love the size and color of blood pythons. Most of mine are pretty well behaved and I have most of the morphs I want except pollen/ flower which I really need to get a pair of pollen or a flower male even. Good video I enjoyed it

    I thought about getting a blood python as my first snake but I decided to use my better judgment and get a ball. Now knowing how unforgiving they can be with temp fluctuations and humidity, I'm glad I did.

    Short tail species are so beautiful for sure. Seem to have interesting personalities outside of the defensiveness tendency - I'm a boa guy and my main Colombian who is a total sweetheart got freaked out while I was wearing gloves and tagged me with zero warning, so it isn't just short tails lol. They do usually hiss tho, and hell, don't even strike usually. Regardless, especially after seeing the 3 species in person it really piqued my interest. The bloods have such vibrant red, not unlike BCCs/boas, and the Sumatrans, especially Black or Chrome Head Sumatrans are so cool! Maybe one day when I have my breeding groups of boas and BPs sorted, a Blood or Sumatran is in my future, since Retics are illegal here lol. Great vid! My boas poop about that amount, maybe less! (Even when very hydrated etc)

    I really love blood pythons. Because honestly their name sounds cool plus like you said they are bigger versions of ball pythons. Unfortunately all the breeder sites I’ve been looking on they are pretty pricey compared to ball pythons plus there is no where as near as much morphs for them as there are for ball pythons most likely because they have a bad rep, and not as in demand as ball pythons so there are a lot less breeders willing to put in the time,effort,money to really bring out all the morphs there could be like they’ve done with ball pythons. Still badass snakes though 😍

    Hey, Great video! Any tips on Feeding? I've had a blood for about 6 months now, sometimes it eats other times it doesn't. I always have to heat it up a few times, and almost bother it with the rat to get it to take it. Fortunately, I have a few boas I can feed in case it doesn't eat.

    • @TheSnakeGawd
      @TheSnakeGawd  2 года назад

      Kato was the same way. I had to leave it in his enclosure over night and he'd eat. Even now he doesnt take it straight from tongs but he'll eat once its laid down

      Every couple of weeks is sufficient since they have a slow metabolism for digestion. I got a baby blood python almost 2 weeks ago and I offered it 2 rat pinky pup’s 3 days after I brought it home and now I’ll give it around 3 weeks before I offer it another meal again. Hope this helped 👍

    Ball Pythons are everyones favorite manageable sized constrictors until they discover Blood Pythons, and then Bloods are everyones favorite constrictor until they find Short-tails :P Short tails are everything Bloods are but with generally better attitude (yours is quite calm, but very often they are not) and more unique personalities (I would say more intelligent). I myself own 2 Bloods, but once I found my first Borneo Short-tail, then a Sumatran, then I entered the rabbit hole. All 3 species rock, dont get me wrong, bloods are awesome, just seems like you are ignoring their Short-Tail peers that are more first time owners friendly than BP.
