Warlock glide is only cringey to people who don't know what glide they should be using. Burst glide in PVP to warlock skate. Strafe Glide in PVE and you'll never have to worry about jumping puzzles again, you can literally skip 90% of the jumps that other classes have to do and be able to land on a dime.
I much prefer balanced glide because it gives you more height and distance with relatively good aerial control. Closing to 2k hours on a Warlock with like 30-60 hours on both titan and hunter (which were mostly used to get the Telesto catalyst when that was a thing and Mythocrutch which I never got), so that's not just some random noob's take. Try balanced glide in PvE, works like a charm.
@@SkinnyBlackout In my 4,972.8 hours on Destiny, almost all of it on Warlock, I've never once had a problem with jump distance. We already out distance everyone else and the game is designed for the other classes to be able to get through jumping puzzles. Use what you want, but strafe glide gets you so much more control.
@@twohorsesinamancostume7606 I found balanced to be better when you need to get to some hard to reach places, or with heat rises. The added speed really helps make the most of the buff without significant loss to control. Burst I just never use nowadays. I used it a lot back in the day but it just doesn't offer enough options apart from speed and in PvP you can just use blink or icarus dash for quick retreats. No point in getting to the middle of the map faster than your team just to become the entry frag.
@@Carlos-ux1dh Easily the worst option unless you absolutely have to do the skate tech. I rolled with burst for the first year of playing and I don't miss it one bit.
Warlock glide is the best jump in D2 and the only reason I never touch other subclasses. You can skip the entire jumping puzzle in VoG with heat rises for example and it makes pretty much any jumping related stuff piss easy.
You mentioned Thorn and Osteo Striga as the only 2 confirmed weapons of sorrow in the game, but Touch of Malice was just added and it too works with Necrotic Grips... also the debuff from the blight ToM fires as it's alt-fire mode only applies to two other weapons in terms of damage: Thorn and Osteo Striga....therefore, there are now 3 weapons of sorrow in the game, confirmed :)
@@ManOfCole aaaahh I see... but isn't it so cool that ToM has those interactions???!! Idk, I've been big into the lore since the beginning of D1, & there have been long-standing arguments in the lore community about which weapons are actually Weapons of Sorrow...and to have Bungie confirm it for us that ToM is in fact a Weapon of Sorrow is just so satisfying!
@@allenparnell6170 technically, no. Bungie has officially stated that if the weapon doesn't have a functional interaction with Necrotic Grips, then it is not a Weapon of Sorrow.
@@ManOfCole Ah ok. Just wanna let you know that's not quite the full picture. From my own testing, Blink base distance is 10 meters. Astrocyte blink distance is 12 meters. The displacement distance bungie is refering to im not entirely clear on what that is, though i believe it refers instead to the buffer distance travelled between when you activate blink, actually teleport, appear again and then the animation ends. If that makes sense. Just so you know
i don't know on pc cause i play on console, but u can actually icarus dash from the ground basically like a hunter if u press circle, jump, and circle again really fast
Forward key, toggle sprint, jump, jump. All Roughly at the same time or as timely as possible. Then you achieve proper momentum on initial warlock jumps. If you hold the jump key as a warlock you’ll just fall. 😂
I actually hopped on and did some precise testing regarding Icarus and i can safely say that the "activating Icarus on the downwards half of the jump gives you more momentum" is 100% false. Icarus has the unique ability to carry on and add to momentum. the animation length of said dash is always the same the best way for doing a regular Icarus dash would be to jump, and then glide+airmove in quick succession. this carries the momentum of the initial sprint jump, and the burst glide into your Icarus. on the other hand, using the trick in the video would leave you with both downwards and forwards momentum+ the burst glide. your forward momentum rapidly decreases when you're free falling, and the downwards momentum will be completely cancelled by your burst glide due to the way warlock glide works. this not only leads to a slower Icarus but also a longer preparation time, when Icarus is meant to be a quick and snappy movement ability. Not to mention if downwards momentum were able to be carried over, jumping off a high cliff and then activating Icarus would send me miles. which is not the case. Also heat rises fucks with burst glide. don't use heat rises for the second Icarus. some things are gone for ever.

You can skip the "jumping puzzle" in VoG without heat rises too if you just time your jump a little.
