Lake Willoughby is where I spent my summers in the late 1940’s through 1955. My brother Warren Daoust, cousin Arlene Seibold and I hiked the Pisgah trail. We stayed at cabins on the Lacross farm and a couple of summers we worked at a horseback riding stable on the Barton Road (Route 15). In 1971 I flew my Dad in my airplane between Mt Pisgah and Mt Hor. My parents owned a home (bought in 1970) on the northwest corner of Lake Willoughby. The roads in Orleans County were unpaved until about 1960 and the lake shoreline road was single lane in many places.

Third grade teacher here & I showed this video to my class during lunch in our classroom. You should’ve heard their expressions with the vivid colors around the overlooks! They loved it! Wonderful work!! We’ve watched several of your videos now (I just back from Mansfield & Marcy myself) and they really enjoy following your adventures!

Beautiful...awesome seeing that side of Vermont. We just took our kids to a fire tower lookout this past weekend as well...pretty amazing view although not quite as dramatic as yours there. Always fun when you find one of those. It's interesting seeing the different types of tress there in Vermont...looked like a lot of evergreens or firs mixed in with the maples. Just has a different feel than back here in Minnesota. As always, love the Kona slow mos...when can we strap the GoPro on her and get a Kona spin off channel????

Hello Adventurers😊😊, I'm so glad you got to explore the Northeast Kingdom! Isn't Lake Willoughby absolutely SPECTACULAR??!! The fire tower was really cool climbing those super steep steps and getting a GOURGOUS VIEW...WOW!!! So now your heading to White Mountains National Forest...and I can't wait to see that footage. The Kancamagus Highway MUST be explored as there are many trailheads to hike. The highest mountain in all of New England is Mount Washington at over 6500 feet and winds can be VERY ferocious at the summit during fall season. There are 3 ways to get to the summit: Take the cog railway, drive, or take the van tour...probably best done during spring, summer or early fall. SOOO many covered bridges and SPECTACULAR waterfalls!! Kona must be having an AWESOME time. I hope your enjoying the White Mountains. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍!

Hello! How nice to see this video. Thanks for the information. Beautiful scenery. I’ve snowmobiled all over the Northeast Kingdom for years out of Island Pond just east of this. I’ve been on that lake in winter on my sled and my friend and I were in awe at that steep rock face, so straight up from the water. It was nice to see it during a different season. That area is the pinnacle of Vermont snowmobiling and rivals the best in the entire north east. Thanks .

Beautiful area, isn't it. My little 20 acre homestead in East Charleston is 5 miles due east from that fire tower you climbed. I wake every morning to these beautiful vistas here in the NEK. I was hoping you would have paid a quick visit to Sentinel Rock State Park, not 3 miles from Mt. Pisgah right up from Lake Willoughby also with beautiful views and no hiking involved. I retired up here form NJ back in 2015 and have no desire to ever leave this beautiful State. So happy you enjoyed the NEK, Mt Pisgah, Mt. Hors (directly across Lake Willoughby from Mt. Pisgah) and Bald Mountain. Have fun in New Hampshire. Cheers!

Those exposed stairs were definitely a bit scary in the wind! We still have no idea what that squirrel was doing, but Kona really wanted it haha

Awesome video! Always enjoy your videos but this one just hit all the right notes for me. The flow of it, cinematography, and music was all spot on. So glad you could fly the drone here. Those shots were spectacular, especially with that little bit of fog.
We spent a day at Lake Willoughby as part of last summer’s Vermont vacation. We hiked Mt. Pisgah and then did some canoeing on the lake. This is not a place I see mentioned ever but it certainly wasn’t a secret. It was packed. I think it ended up being everyone’s favorite spot in Vermont. It definitely was my older two boy’s favorite spot. They got to see some things at the south beach cove area as we were not aware there was a nude beach section.

Thank you! The drone helped a ton! It provided an amazing perspective. The fog can be a pain sometimes when it's too thick, but when it's patchy it can add something nice!
haha we're thankful we didn't have that experience! 😂

Beautiful views from that fire tower. It's hard to imagine how many square miles of wilderness you could see from up there. On your way back to Texas you'll need to swing by Mt. Sunflower in Kansas and knock off another high point. (In spite of the name it is one of the easiest.)

    • @AdventuresofAplusK

Love that name! We won't be going through Kansas this time, but still need to make it to Kansas and explore a bit!

We watched this video last year and enjoyed it then. Rewatched it this time as we visited the area and decided to hike Pisgah Mt instead of the trail across the lake. Glad we followed your lead. Views are great even in August. Thanks for sharing this video.

In the winter, the state forest land is great for snowshoeing, or x-skiing ,yes even up to the top! Seasonal ice climbing on those cliffs. And that south beach you were at, just past that outcrop of rock to your left, is the clothing optional beach.

They run quite a few open water swim events in various lakes in the area. One is the entire lengthy of Lake Willoughby, 5 miles, great swim!
