- Peeping the leaves in Vermont has been on Ashley’s bucket list for years! So, we finally made the road trip up to Vermont to see the incredible fall foliage that blankets the state each Fall.
While our visit in October was a little late for peak leaf peeping, we still got to enjoy some absolutely spectacular fall colors and leaves across Vermont.
We packed our weekend full of fall activities including eating Maple Creemees, exploring a working sugarbush farm and trying pure Vermont maple syrup, driving Route 100, visiting a local Vermont Farmers Market, enjoying Apple Cider Donuts, and more!
And, we discovered one of our new favorite towns in America - Woodstock, Vermont! It’s such a unique, charming town with beautiful nature, covered bridges, gorgeous architecture, delicious food, and one of our favorite coffee shops.
Vermont quickly became a travel favorite for us. The natural beauty of the state, combined with a unique culture, charming towns, and more than enough things to do in any season, are part of the reason you have to add Vermont to your USA must-see list!
We hope you enjoy our travel vlogs and, as always, we’ll see you in our next video as we KEEP GOING PLACES!

I've lived in Vermont for 13 of the last 17 years. In fact, I moved away and came back. It is a magical place. Ive traveled heavily in the US, and I genuinely think Vermont is one of the best places to live in the country.
Hey, do you maybe have a recommendation of a city in Vermont to stay in for 2 days? :)
@@luciemayer7003 Depends what you want to get into. Burlington is great. Lots to do. Cool scene. Montpelier is less so. Newport in the NEK would offer you something more rural. From Burlington you could also branch out to Shelburne and do Shelburne farms, which is fantastic. You could also hit any number of breweries, distilleries, etc
Ive heard its very liberal, does that dominate the lifestyle and culture in your opinion?
Curious to know why you feel that way? Im from Georgia & for some reason, im extremely drawn to visit Vermont. I particularly have an extreme liking to the Autumn 🍂 season so that is the main reason I’d like to visit but definitely would be interesting to get a local’s perspective on the state & why you like it so much.
@@chubbrock659 very much so, which explains the communal feelings, vibrancy, and small town/business success within the state although it’s not quite as “loud and proud” as some of the west coast cities.
I was born and raised in VT until 2010, when I retired and moved to Alabama. Of course, I miss people and the four seasons of VT. Alabama does have 4 seasons, but Vt's are MORE so. I do not miss shoveling snow, but do miss standing in a woodland in the winter during a snowfall and just listening. It is so quiet, you can almost hear the snow fall. You can also hear the wind in the trees, small animals calling, the trees making sounds, and if there is a brook nearby, the babble of water. The air is crisp and clear, and if you imagine just right, you can feel like the only person that has ever heard Mother Nature and get lost in the quietness. I miss the smell of new mown grass in the Spring, the tang of mown hay and the colors of Fall. But most of all, I miss the mountains in Summer. All decked out in green and looking lush, they seemed to provide a sense of security. That is maybe a feeling particular to me. However, over the years, I have learned that those feelings, memories and sights are just called 'HOME".
Very well said representation of ‘home’ 😊 You literally just transported us to those environments by reading this! We didn’t get to experience the snow in Vermont, but we went on a walk in the sugarbush one morning with fallen leaves and you could smell the maple in the air 🍁 and hear the wind and birds. Such a peaceful moment in time. Thank you for sharing and watching!
@@KeepGoingPlacesThank you! To really answer the question "is Vt the best fall get-away" one must visit during the peak of fall colors to get the full effect. Most visitors will say that they were amazed at the colors,.. but not all. As for a get-away, that is an individual thing. I hope you can say it was. Having spent most of my life there, I am somewhat jaded. Now that I don't live there, I don't think of any place else to visit. Not only because of family and friends, but to see that part of this country I know best and called home. All 4 Vt seasons have attractions. I wish you have the chance to see them all. In the meantime...."Keep going places."... LOL
I'm from Vermont and i wish I never left i'm in Georgia for 20 years, ugh!
I moved to Vermont in 2009 and my top favorite thing to do in Vermont is to tell Vermonters that its called soft serve not a creemee.
lmaooo
Good video. Good choice music. I felt I was on holiday watching it. Stayed in Woodstock for a summer when I was 13. I'm 57 now and would like to revisit. I remember watering the trees along Church Street with my friend Nick who I was staying with that summer. Fond memories of Woodstock. Thank you for filming the video.
I’ve lived in VT my entire life and I appreciate it more and more every year that I get older ! I admittedly take some of this stuff for granted, so it’s fun to see things through a tourists eyes !
Always happy to provide a fresh take! We were really blown away by the entire state. What an incredible place to call home! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
Could you tell me when the color peaks in let’s say Woodstock ?
@@bayer54I can I live there. Usually 2ND OR 3RD week of October
I have lived in Vermont for my entire life and it is truly amazing. I'm so glad you got to enjoy it's beauty. Fall at peak foliage is breathtaking but honestly all the seasons have so much to offer. You should consider returning when it's bright green and covered in flowers. ♡
Sounds like an excellent plan to us! 😍 Thanks so much for watching- we’re so glad you enjoyed the video.
@@Steffy0914 It will be controversial to say stay away from certain towns but Rutland and Bellows Falls are kind of know to be pretty rough(for Vermont). If you want to live in an area that has really great schools look at Jericho, Underhill. You can commute to Burlington for work and MMU schools are some of the best in VT.
@@Steffy0914 do not move to rutland. I would say stay out of the "big cities". If you are able to visit areas of interest, the appearance of the town is a pretty good indicator of how good a town is for raising a family. Just do research. Research the school systems and the crime rates. Honestly, there is bad everywhere but in Vermont it's definitely easier to avoid. I love raising my family here! Good luck!
I'm watching this from my dorm room in Atlanta Georgia right now... This year I've been doing a pretty good job at warding off homesickness but when I tell you this video brought it back in full force, holy shit. Autumn in VT is my second fave season (I'm a huge fan of April in VT with the constant switches from it smelling like spring and feeling like spring right back to snowfall) and here I am spending my second autumn in GA. I miss going to get palmer maple creemees (So sorry it was closed for yall it do be the best) and laughing at jokes around bonfires. I miss apple picking and baking fresh apple pies while drinking warm cider. I miss the crunch of the leaves and the views driving through the state. I miss standing on church street with friends trying to guess who the tourists are by how many layers people are wearing and if they stop to check for cars while crossing the intersections on church street or not. I miss going to muddy waters (A cafe in Burlington) And drink hot chocolates while doing homework with friends... I had no idea how much VT meant to me until I left it. Thank you for this video and for reading this mess of emotional nonsense lol.
This isn’t nonsense at all. I (Ashley) found it so lovely and meaningful to read. Truly, it’s amazing what a video on RUclips can mean to any given person. I definitely understand that homesickness and adjustment of “normal” away at school. Thank you for sharing your memories, they are beautiful. I know they won’t be the last special memories you have in VT, even if that feels really far away right now. Hopefully we can both get back to Vermont soon - and with creemees!! 😋
I moved to Dallas Texas last year and I sure do miss the cool crisp air in the fall, the crunching if the leaves, the trees that don't grow here like river birch, white birch, crabapples..crabapple... and the burning bushes, cotton Easter bushes...I totally understand how you feel! I'm hoping to move where I can be back into my element!
As a person that lives here it is great to have all these things all year round.
We’re very jealous!! Have a creemee for us! ☺️
There’s no place like Vermont.
If you never go to Vermont and you can drive there like we have, there’s something wrong with you. You have to see the color to believe what you are seeing.
I love Vermont ❤️
I have lived in Waterbury most of my life and Cold Hollow is still my favorite place for donuts. I used to work at the (now closed) store across the street and the smell of fresh donuts was the best! The fresh cider is also so delicious!!
Just went last weekend! Love their legendary donuts 🍩❤️ I so badly want to buy property there
It is awesome that they are open year around! I have been getting cider slushes all summer.
Wow you guys can be my tour guide! You found all the good stuff.....I live in central Vermont and you may have just inspired me to go check out my own state. 🍁
I really enjoyed watching this. My husband and I recently moved to Vermont and I learned much from this video. Our favorite syrup is their darkest. We put it in our coffee. We definitely have to check out some of the towns you went to. I just recently tasted Vermont’s maple “creemee.” It’s delicious! We are experiencing our first fall here in Vermont.
Oh how are exciting! Congrats on the move, what a beautiful place to call home. I (Ashley) preferred the darker syrups too! So glad you enjoyed the video - thanks so much for watching!
Neither of you are welcome here. Outsiders.
@@doopstoop4656 Im not gonna lie, I was waiting to see this comment 🤣 dude you've gotta realize we make ALL of out money off of people who visit our state. If you have such an issue with people being in and out of the state so much, you should move.
Autumn vibes ARE THE BEST!!!! Love all the maple and cider talk 🤤🍁🍏 the way you described the apple cider donuts is how Aussie donuts taste
Aren’t they though! Thanks so much for watching!
Senator Bernie Sanders socialist state democratic socialist Von Trapp family live in Vermont Lincoln relatives built a house in Vermont President Coolidge relatives have a cheese factory in Vermont and senator Bernie Sanders and Republican governor Scott are popular in Quebec and Ontario Canada and world class skiers come to Vermont
Beautiful fall leaves and waterfalls! Thank you for this lovely visit to Vermont!
Thank you for watching! ☺️
Great job!
Sap, before boiling, not syrup….
Nice car, looks just like mine, but mine’s a Prime.
Keep up the great videos, safe travels!
Well Done... Went to college in Northern Vermont, at St. Michael's and even though I'm only living in Massachusetts, your visit brought back so many memories and nostalgia, that I am now planning for a weekend trip to reminiscence. Stay safe and keep up the good work!
As someone who has travelled only West Coast US I'm looking forward to this series. Great aerial footage and music choices! It's interesting how the American architecture is so different depending on which part of the US you are in. Being British I still don't understand how Americans can have donuts for breakfast :D
Thank so much, Sam! I hope it delivers!
We highly recommend trying donuts for breakfast. A sugar rush first thing in the morning - what’s not to love? 😆
Those cider donuts are all day donuts... Not just for breakfast!
East coast you get the old feel you don't get on the west coast much. Everything is so new out west
You guys are the sweetest couple ❤️
Aww, thank you! ☺️
That waterfall is in my home town valley! I'm sure you drove through my little town of Rochester.
It was so cute when you pouted over the maple creemee's. :)
So beautiful! I need to spend some major time in Vermont. I currently live in New Hampshire which is much the same. Love it here. I truly believe New England is the best region of the country.
This video made me so happy. I love that you included real footage so much of the surrounding area. I do traveling healthcare work and I find it so hard find information about what it looks like around and outside of the actual towns. Thank you thank you!
Yay 😊 So glad you enjoyed the video! Vermont is so beautiful!
Hey from the UK! Fellow traveller here and these usa vids are giving me the happy fall vibes that i need to be seeing right now. What a wonderful video! Im all over these kind of travel vlogs, perfectly done. Subscribed and cant wait to see more of your usa adventures :)
I grew up in VT, went to school there, worked there, still have family and friends there.
I 💚 vermont soo much, I live in ct so im only down the road . This video makes me want to go up to frolic in it's autumn beauty. It's sept now, so maybe, just maybe i will make a trip up there in my favorite month of october. Thanx for the reminder of just how wonderful my favorite state really is.
Oh my!!! Such a beautiful place!! And great footage 😍

Just found you guys recently so I’m going back to watch all your videos. Loved this one so much! No creamies... bless her heart I could almost see the tears. Glad you found one it looked so delicious! And the donuts... love all the donuts!
I tried so hard not to cry! 😅 That felt a little too much but it was sooo sad. Luckily the creemees at Silloway Maple were freakin amazing! Who wouldn’t want to enjoy some ice cream on farm while the horses go by?! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️
thank u guys! your sweet, informative and were much much help in planning our coming road trip. thanks!!
That is so great to hear! We are always happy to help. I hope the trip is fantastic!!

Wow!!! I have always wanted to visit New England in Autumn. Favourite video yet, Katie 🍁🍂
Thank you so much! We love to hear that ☺️ Definitely add Vermont to your list!
Thank you for making me think about how beautiful my home state is.
This music is amazing
Silloway Maple is THE BEST! I live nearby and I bring everyone who visits us! Hands down the best!
I mean how can you beat that ambiance?! Such a special place!
I was originally from Connecticut so I know how beautiful New England is. However I have not been to Vermont in quite a while. Love the waterfalls and the different colors of leaves . I am hoping to be moving to Vermont in a few years so hopefully I will be able to experience the same things that you have. Great video.
We could totally live in Vermont! The nature, small towns and architecture are gorgeous. We have a skewed perception given we were only there in the Fall, but it still seems like a great state to call home. Thank you for watching!
You look like a young Liz Taylor! Beautiful. Loved this video, very informative! Thank you
The footage is too awesome... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️The fall nature is so beautiful...I am obsessed with this season...I wish to travel to us Vermont during fall some day
It is spectacular! Vermont is for sure the ideal fall vacation spot. I hope you get to go there some day! Thanks so much for watching, so happy you enjoyed the video. ☺️
You did a nice job, thanks for the visit to my state, Keith , Ole time Vermonter
This is the first video of yours I have seen and I love it you guys seem to have so much fun and are so cute and I love that you guys talk about some of the vegan/plant based options around town! I've been so curious what it's like to be plant based in Vermont although I've only heard good things I love that you guys showed specific examples and places so than you so much! :-)
Thank you so much! Glad you found us and are enjoying our channel
I go to University of Vermont in Burly and it is the BEST decision I have ever made! Woodstock made me fall in love with the area
Big same! Woodstock really did for us too - what an absolutely adorable town! The whole state really is magic. Thanks for watching!
Came across this video and I'm so happy I did 😢😍the music is on point my kind of people ♥️♥️
We are planning a trip to Vermont. I came across this RUclips video. Very informative and so cute. I've watched it three times love it. thank you. Great job on the video wonderful music:)
Great video blog! My wife and I were there at the exact same time you were! October 2020! We stayed in Burlington at the Hilton Garden Inn-Downtown Burlington. We moved to Italy in January 2021. But now that it’s getting closer to October, we’re really missing Vermont. It was nice retracing our own steps through your video.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video. And, hope you’re enjoying the best pasta in Italy!
Such a beautiful state. Looking forward to rest of your New England series as we hope to visit that part of our country next year (or year after) for the colors.
Vermont was stunning in October! Our next one from Salem, MA will be posting today. We need to get back to New England another year when everything is open and lively - Winter 2020 wasn’t the best time to explore everything Boston has to offer. Y’all will love it in the Fall, especially in a year or so!
I grew up and was born in southern VT, later I moved to NH. It’s funny that this popped up on my suggested but it was a nice reminder of how beautiful my home state is
It’s a gorgeous state, one of our favorites so far! Thanks so much for watching!
I live in Vermont I’m not sure how this made it in to my feed but glad it did. This was wholesome and charming, nice work thank you! I’ll subscribe
Awesome! Thank you very much! We’re so happy to have you!
Thank you for the great video. I haven't been back to Vermont in years and your video brought back some great memories (born in Bennington, raised in Arlington...now living in Southern California). You two are so much fun to watch...I had to subscribe--looking forward to more adventures with you!!
Thank you so much! Glad to hear we brought back good memories and that you enjoyed the video! Vermont is a special place, especially in the Fall.

Thank you so much! It’s still one of our very favorite vlogs ever! So happy to have you! Oh my gosh - go for it! You’ll have the best time!!
Great video. Next time, head south to Brattleboro: Retreat Meadows has hiking trails, and animals, Scotts Farm for apple picking and Brattleboro Museum & Arts Center on the river. Lots and lots of fun here in the “south” and maple creemees, too! Glad you had such a great time here.
Nice! Very scenic and lots of donuts LOL
Loved your music playlist
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video - and the donuts :)
Love Doughnuts & Maple Syrup. Specially Maple Sugar Candy. Those Doughnuts Looked So Tasty. I Want A Maple Creemee. Excellent Video
Thanks! The donuts were perfect and the maple creemee is now one of our top 3 ice cream 🍦 treats.
What a stunning place!!! 😍 Definitely on my bucket list to visit someday (I live in Belgium so it's quite far 😉).
And what a wonderful wholesome vlog with beautiful camerawork you guys...heading off to watch some more of your adventures now!!! 👏☺️
We LOVE Vermont (especially in the Fall)! We visited Belgium for a bit a couple of years ago and really enjoyed it to. Glad you’re enjoying our travel videos!

Thank you so much Cate! We had the best tome making this vlog. So glad you enjoyed it! Sending you all the good fall foliage vibes 🍃 🍂 ☺️

It’s one of our favorite places! Thanks so much for watching! ☺️

Vermont is a very unique state with things that can't be experienced elsewhere. It's almost like stepping into a different country compared to its neighbours.
Lots of fresh 🍎 & 🍅 will keep you both well fortified ! Avoid the Mickey D's 🍔 & 🍟 What a beautiful fall in Vermont.
For sure! 💪🏻 ☺️
I lived most of my life in Vermont and currently make my life in Nome, Alaska. As glorious as Alaska is, this video literally made me weepy.
Oh, that’s so sweet! How cool that we could make a travel video that brought such nice feelings for you. ☺️ Vermont is a very special place!
As a Vermonter I appreciate what you’ve created here. You guys made a really sweet video of this little state. When we used buckets back in the day for sugaring, we used a horse drawn sled through the woods that held a tank. We’d trudge through the snow and empty the buckets into the tank as it was pulled through the woods. Definitely a lot of work, but luckily no hiking up and down to the main tank!
That still sounds like a whole lot of effort - glad there has been some innovation in the maple industry! We had the best time making this video, we still talk about Vermont all the time. What a special place!
I love your place at the start of the video! Is it an airbnb? You guys are so cute! Glad you enjoyed your Vermont trip!
Yep! We found that cabin on AirBnB. It’s actually an old Sugar House (where maple syrup would be processed). Loved it!

We’ll have to visit NH one Fall; haven’t been there yet. But one day!
Vermont is my home. I moved away once and hated it. Moved right back. Burts's Apple Orchard in Cabot has the best cider doughnuts. They are warm, super fluffy and melt in your mouth like a fresh Krispy Kream, yet waaay better. Also they are wicked cheap. I get 3 dozen. One for while I pick apples. The second is for my 20 min ride home, the last is for the house lol
Ok where did you get your hat? I’m obsessed with that color combo!
The foliage and that pumpkin bread-like donut is giving me allllll the fall feels! 🍁🍂

also everyone will say their local place has the "best" creamees theyre all delicious lol.
So wild to find your video, about the area I live in!🍁p.s the BEST maple creamees are at Mac’s Maple Rte 120 Plainfield NH . Homemade waffle cones, maple chunks… near Cornish artists colony ( Maxfield Parrish, St. Gaudens)
Ohhh love that - we will just have to make it back to VT/NH to give that a try!! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
St Johnsbury is sometimes over looked but it’s a great place to come peep leafs
Thanks for the insider tip!
Awww, her face when it said No Creemies. I felt really bad for her because you could see she wasn't faking and that was genuine disappointment. Poor girl. Also, 'belfry" does not rhyme with french fry, LOL (pronounce bell-free). Really enjoyed this video btw.
What an amazing video! Your no creamie face is totally justified 😂 question! Is that place in the beginning a little ABnB? Or do you have any to recommend along the way? Thanks!
Lol thankfully I got my creemee in the end. I don’t think I could have handled a double disappointment. Yes! That is an AirBnB and we absolutely loved it. We need to put the link to it in our description. It’s an old Sugarhouse in Royalton, VT.

Where did you road trip from?! My husband and I are thinking of road tripping to VT this year from NC but I’m a little nervous due to Covid and we have a a 2 month old. 🙃
We originally drove from Dallas to Boston. Vermont was a weekend trip from Boston while we lived in Boston for almost two months. Totally understandable concern, especially with a little one. There’s lots to do outdoors and Vermont is the most vaccinated state in the country. We went last year and it was easy to keep our space but I’m sure it’ll be busier this year. It’s such a fun trip so I hope y’all can go sometime!
Vermont is the best place to live, I think! (Ive been here since 1999)

Not sure if you guys are in to beers, but it's worth checking out some breweries that make some great Vermont IPAs, the style has taken the world by storm during the last few years and it's probably the biggest thing to happen in the brewing scene since the 90's beginning of the craft beer boom.
We’re not huge beer drinkers but had a couple nice ones at dinner in Burlington. Maybe we can look for those next times we’re in New England! Thanks for watching!
Great video! I’ll be in Vermont next month. We’re the Donuts at Cold Hollow vegan by chance as well?
Thank so much, hope you have an awesome time! No, I don’t think they were.

What a food life it looks so peacefull...did you recomienda me to move to vermont?
I know all the places they went to i deliver food in Vermont all over the state!
Im planning to go to vermont end if september, will i be able to see the foliage already by then?
Cool video.
So if you ever decide to do another Vermont excursion, here is my advice. Generally speaking, right around Columbus Day weekend is peak foliage in northern Vermont. it depends on the weather, but on average last week of September, first week of October are the bomb for leaf peeping.
I see a lot of people do VT videos. Hardly anyone makes it up to the Champlain Islands. Big mistake. The Champlain Islands are a great fall destination. Its only like 37 miles from Burlington to the Canadian border through the islands - 60 minutes give or take. The drive up Route 2 is a spectacular Fall drive.
This is what I would do. Its a long drive but if your are a leaf peeper, its gold. Cross over the bridge in southern Lake Champlain near Ft. Ticonderoga into NY. Drive up through the Adirondaks - on a sunny day its like driving in a gumdrop forest, the leaves are popping spectacular colors in the mountains. Drive up past Plattsburg to exit 42 on I-87. Take the bridge to VT in Rouses Point. You are now on Route 2. Take this south through Alburgh, North Hero and South Hero and back to Burlington or wherever you started.
There is plenty to see and do in the islands. On Saturdays there is a Farmers Market in South Hero. Bernie Sanders has a vacation house in North Hero and is often seen over the summer and fall at that Farmers Market, if you are into politician celebrity encounters. Be polite and respectful if you see him, regardless of your politics.
Plenty of nice food stops on Route 2 as well as a winery in South Hero. and antique shops. Great views of Mount Mansfield and Camel's Hump heading south. Plenty of B&B options as well.
Fall leaf peepers would do themselves a favor and do a day trip up North through the Champlain Islands. You may never leave (see what I did there - leaf/leave).
Thank you for your advice for the next time we visit! Very helpful to see different things. We loved our time in Vermont and can’t wait to visit again.
Try Smugglers Notch on the Jeffersonville side (much cheaper) and run the notch into Stowe. Stowe is beautiful, but a millionaire out of staters playground so its 15USD to look at a carrot. I am from that area. Jeffersonville that is. Incredibly beautiful with a lot of free stuff to do. Rail Trail, swimming holes, hiiking, Smuggs resort and real friendly people.
I'll say yes because I live here.
