I single handed sailed my Moody Eclipse from Burnham on Crouch to Cowes with no autopilot and felt that was a massive achievement, but nothing compared to what you have achieved !!
Great video! So glad you made it home safe and sound. It's a dream of mine to buy a sailboat and travel the world someday - thank you for the inspiration and motivation to follow through!!
Well done young Sir...Thoroughly enjoyed being on the journey with you..I'm 74 and plan to do the same. Never sailed a Yacht before only trawler experience.. Must be as daft as you...Congratulations.
Do it. Start looking at boats and you will be hooked. Can’t recommend the Contessa 26 enough. Reliable engine gives you a lot of confidence too. Good luck. x
Haha, "just do it" yes indeed, well done Neil, very inspiring. Modest and real, could I ever be so honest with my emotions if I produced a video journey like that ??? Hope you slept really well.
Thanks for posting your videos Neil, I watched them all in one go and enjoyed them very much. I sail a Southerly 35 out of Wells in North Norfolk, my wife and I have sailed to lots of the ports you visited, it was fun seeing you in familiar places. Hope your dad is ok and hope you get to go back out sailing soon 👍
Super vlog, great voyage, many congratulations …. 🎉 …. once the dust has settled, might you do another about the planning and organisational aspects, to assist others who might follow you?
Thanks Roy. Not sure I feel qualified to give advice though. Mostly I figured out if I could just handle the day ahead and then went for it. I didn't tell people I was toying with circumnavigating in the beginning in case it was too hard...Just break it down into day sails at the beginning then go from there. It's not so hard. Good luck!
I like your style! Congratulations on the trip and very well done with the short videos. You have (i imagine) captured the essence of the adventure brilliantly. Sorry about your dad at the end... I hope we could see a little more about your boat and the necessary prep?!
Thanks. Appreciate the kind words. Dad hadn’t been himself for years so think it was his time to go. I sold the boat so… just won’t have time for another nautical adventure this year.. maybe a Contessa 32 in a year or so. But I did love No Doubt.. didn’t like her sitting up the river unused so..
Well done, amazing effort !! I’ve only just found your channel so need to go back to the start ! I’m just finishing a refit of a 40year old yacht in Port Solent and about to start my season 🤣
Thank you Neil for a really lovely video raconte of your trip around Britain. How much experience in coastal sailing did you have prior to setting off? I have my RYA Day Skipper and enjoyed many decades of dinghy sailing. I too love the Contessa 26, ideal for your solo sail.
Hi. I feel like until you get your own boat experience doesn’t count for much.. but like learning to drive from the passenger seat. I loved the 26. Technology now means you always know exactly where you are… so much much easier than 25 years ago. Go for it. Day skipper and a bit of sense all you need.
I’ve sold her.. life, kids, art… but I definitely would be happy sailing her across the Atlantic.. maybe a contessa 32 when I can get another adventure at sea planned..

Thanks Andrew. The first leg is the hard leg.. after that it's all much easier...So now you are a single handed sailor!!
Amazing ....well done ....watched them all in one sitting...insparational
Thank you. Nice to hear. Put a smile on my face. :-)
Great video! So glad you made it home safe and sound. It's a dream of mine to buy a sailboat and travel the world someday - thank you for the inspiration and motivation to follow through!!
Thank you. I appreciate that. Honestly the hardest part is just committing to do it and starting out....Good luck. :-)

Will you come across the Altlantic in the Contessa 26? Enjoyed the series. Cheers

How long is your boat
25 1/2 feet but called a Contessa 26.. She's very low to the water and thin so she feels smaller..but super seaworthy..
