I had a landing gear problem years ago. In my communication with ground personnel on the unicom frequency local Emergency Management got involved as did the local media who were monitoring the EM freq. When the fire department came out to the airplane where I stopped it on the runway and asked where I wanted to go I pointed to the FBO as the media and spectators were outside the terminal building. By the time the media figured out where I was, I was already in another airplane taxiing out. They didn't get much of a story (as far as the actual problem) that day!
Very epic video! The pilot did an amazing job challenging all the feats to land (the wind, speed, stress and of course landing gear.) Definitely deserves praise and a promotion. :)
Impressionante os trabalhos das pessoas e máquinas de prevenção contra incêndios possíveis. Em poucos segundos de parada aeronave, as equipes contra-fire estavam apostos. Parabéns às equipes de segurança pelo trabalho eficiente.
I very glad everyone was able to walk away from that one!... Some Monday morning quarterbacking from someone who has also been in a similar situation... Great touchdown, at the beginning of the displaced threshold...(chose the longest widest runway possible of any suitable airport) That said, if you know you will have huge drag on the left side of the jet, land RIGHT of centerline in anticipation. This small step could have kept him on the runway. Asymmetric reverse, using only the right engine could have proven helpful as well, if available. All is all, well done! Once again, I'm so happy that everyone was OK.
Oh no!! I hate it when you loose a wheel from your “FRONT WING....”!?!? Who gave this man a microphone? I hope there’s a news station manager somewhere with their head in their hands. It would almost be funny, if it wasn’t his job.
BlueLineSpeed It WAS funny. But as a pilot watching this stuff for 40 years it was "refreshing" to hear the announcer give credit where credit was due..."This pilot made an amazing landing.👍
Well. Commentary can be difficult. It spontaneous and in the moment. I probably would of said the same thing. Because in your head you really just mean the wing closet in view. Or in the front of the view.
That was a very impressive stop considering that he was missing a landing gear wheel. It looked so smooth, I wouldn't be surprised that the landing gear was the only thing damaged by the stop.
Great landing but he might have considered coming in a bit on the right. The added drag of left wheel missing should pull left. He added rudder but did not have enough to keep it out of the dirt.
@@MrWolfSnack One of my ex Co workers pulled my 80lb of lead shot out of the tail cone one morning when I wasn't working. He said he nearly shit himself when he ran out of elevator trim at ref+40 on the next approach.
Definitely a great landing. However with a left main gear damaged I would have gone for the right side of the runway. Had he done that I think he could have stayed on the prepared surface.
If you want to look up the registration of any United States registered aircraft it's very easy. Go to your search screen and type in the registration number found on the aircraft. Note: all USA registered aircraft start with an "N". In this case type in: N4WG.
The big guy in the loose white shirt was probably in the left seat. Good job, brother. It could have been a real mess, but he gently favored the other bogie, and it worked out well. No spin until the last moment. Everybody walked away.
The left wing may have some serious issues putting that strut into the dirt at that speed, also notice how that left Fowler flap worked, dirt flowed right over nicely. Lol. Anyway nice landing!!
Glad everyone's ok, but all could think of when I saw that gear was Ron White's comedy bit about the Sears Tire Store. "It fell off... it fell off... it fell the FU*K OFF".
Although pilot was able to land the airplane safely, it’s his job to go around the airplane and do the inspection. If a wheel lug nuts were loose, (I can’t think of any other reason how they lost the wheel) it should have been obvious during that inspection.
I don't know if the pilot meant to do it but the sparks from the landing gear were stopped as soon as he hit the dirt stopping flames and heat and stopping the aircraft with no more damage. I see a great landing.
Horrendous landing actually. Why would anyone land on the centerline when you are going to drag the left gear and veer off left due to drag. This landing no doubt damaged the gear and could have gone even worse because the fuel lines run right next to the gear not to mention the gear mounts are part of the wing which is the fuel tank.
@@alankulchecki3160 by not landing on the centerline of the runway lifting that left wing as much as possible which it wasn't done here either and this airplane has thrust reversers which would of being great to stop the airplane without skidding the right wheel.
I don't know why there isn't any NTSB info on this. Hm, was in Belize and whoops, the wheel fell off upon takeoff. Uh, did the mechanic torque the bolts? Did he install the bolts? Still gotta give the pilot kudos for knowing it fell off at all. Maybe he didn't get all greens? I'm guessing you can see the gear if you turn around? Here's the funny part. The owner is selling it and here's a blurb from the ad: "left main Landing Gear damage. Easy repair. nice business jet thats still airworthy and has lots of hours left before Phase inspections." There's a lot more that had me crackin up. Just look up the tail number N4WG.
Ignorant commentary. Somebody please walk that reporter around a real airplane so he can be told what a jet engine looks like, the difference between wheels and tires, and exactly where everything is located ?
Looked to me like the wheel was still on but without the tire. Would have been a much more dramatic landing had there just been a gear leg to dig into the runway.
Man do I HATE news reporters. Ya your right Ian Powell he almost sounded excited "OH look at the sparks!" (maybe it will explode) then almost disappointed and deflated "it's down." (damn it no one died). They all suck. Also why did it take so long for rescue to get there? The ambulance chasers were there early enough to set up and film this, where was rescue?
Emergency crews have to wait on the taxiway, maybe far away, especially if the aircraft has gear problems and may lose control. Once the aircraft stops even the emergency crews have to get tower clearance to enter the runway.
Emergency crews have to be waiting away from the runway until it the aircraft is down and stopped, for safety reasons as they don't know where/how the the plane will come down in the end. Once it is finally on the ground and stopped they speed over as fast as they can but it takes a minute, usually its up to the pilot/passengers to get themselves immediately clear of the aircraft if they can.
Somewhere out over the water there should Be a Jet commander main gear tire floating around ..Hopefully he didn't extend over a populated area they can do a lot of damage hitting someone Or a car ..
Being a helicopter reporter you would think this guy would know a little more about aviation!! “The front wing” lol

Haa good one.
For not having a good landing gear. This is a great job, congratulations, nobody hurt.
