Probably more than any other show, Ideon truly encapsulates the concept of a God machine. I don't even mean power wise. This thing transcends human notions of "objective" morality, of heroism, of the "us vs them" dichotomy. It's like if if a bunch of ants got a hold of a silent-AI controlled U.S. tank and misunderstood it as being on "their side" in a war against some other ants.
This made realize the Ideon gun is not so much a gun as it is a leaf Blower shooting whatever a black hole(or any black hole for that matter) sucking and compressing matter at faster than light speeds. I feel that's so obvious but, I never thought of it that way.
If the Ideon can cut planets in half, generate a black hole, and has a gun with a range and blast radius of YES, why the hell are the Buff Clan that persistent in chasing after it? It’s like they’re chasing after their own suicide note.
Because it's just one mech and a ship, plus a bunch of squishy pilots. For all the destruction Ideon wreaks on the Buff Clan, its crew also suffers losses and defeats, and because they're far fewer every single one lost is far more costly than the hundreds the Buff Clan lose when they send them after Ideon. The Buff Clan also has planet killers and similarly advanced technology, and in the end? They actually managed to destroy Ideon. Of course, by that time the Ide (Ideon's Power) absolutely annihilated both the human and Buff Clan races aside from the hapless warriors in space, so really they had nothing to lose other than their own lives. And so they did. They managed to win against Ideon and the Solo ship... And the Ide promptly destroyed the entire universe as punishment.
@@ES21007 The problem is that destroying Ideon is exactly what causes its universe-destroying attack to go off. Ideon is one of those situations where in a tabletop RPG you wouldn't stat it. Combat with it is just 'you lose'. Even if you somehow manage to destroy it, it pretty much gives you the middle finger and just destroys everything. Honestly, it would've been hilarious if Game of Thrones ended the way this show did.
@@SBaby Not so much "You lose" as "You'll regret fighting it, one way or another". The GM insists it isn't invincible and it can be killed, but warns you multiple times that there will be consequences for trying. Either it's too strong for the average party, or the particularly clever ones who find a way to beat it will immediately lose the game anyway due to "Rocks Fall, the universe dies."
Using the Ideon gun against two ships is like using a grenade launcher to swat a fly
Gundams: we are in danger
The Ideon can be a dangerous anime mech.
@@heroboygamebase2286especially if Shin Getter and Mazinger nearby and also went berserk 😅
Well in SRW, Ideon is hard to use because of the fact that it does so much damage to both sides. I think they got that part right when adding it.

2:18 just realized the famous dbz big explosion sound effect is actually a low-pitched version of the gundam 0079/Ideon explosion
Yep, Ideon in particular was the real OG with these sound effects years before DB came along.

@@ES21007 Then it faces the Mega Zeta
And then buff clan chose to keep hunting that fleet killer lol.
This is what the GMs dream they were

That’s stronger than a colony laser btw.
The epitome of overkill!
The Ideon may be powerful, but I didn't realized their tech can be extremely dangerous. I wonder if the series will get a reboot.
It should.
I fear that reboot may undermine the original message.@@justagundam
I want one where the Ide treats the Solo Ship like Mother treats the Nostromo in Alien. Cosmic-Horror-Mecha
So the gun is like a massive infinitely powered cannon that shoots antimater like a tornado whirlwind of nonexistance?
god powerd
...dremoon!!!
That's enough power to take out a unicron and a death star space station mega cool ❤
