- Holy shit! Ideon is way too powerful. It's probably one of the strongest robots ever made. And that Ideon Gun Map attack has a huge range, you can cover almost half the stage with that attack and the damage is also very high, one of the best MAP attacks for sure.
That siren noise when Ideon takes out that sword is probably one of the coolest sound effects I have ever heard in my life.

Watched the second Ideon movie last night and dear God. The image of a five year getting her head blown off is seared in my brain, now. Even by Tomino standards, the second Ideon movie goes overboard.

I kinda miss the days when SRW games are a bit more assymetrical in unit gimmicks. EVA is limited by how long the cord is, and you can attach and detach the cord at various locations on the map (or battleships if not in Tokyo-3) and Ideon giving you a game over if it takes too much abuse.
I'm hoping Ideon, TTGL, Evangelion and Diebuster would be in a single game one day so we can play as these godless killing machines together.
While at it, throw mazinger zero and getter emperor

To be fair, in lore Ideon is a fucking eldritch being of infinite cosmic power that can literally wipe off the galaxy.
I dont know how you could implement a unit like that into the game and NOT have it be overpowered

If you want to use Ideon gun/sword, you pretty much have to never upgrade Cosmo's dodge or defense stats, especially dodge since once that reaches 400 (max) then no regular enemies can hit you, and only some bosses cast sure hit can have a chance, but if your defense is too low then they could easily one shot you too

Behold the strongest srw unit to ever exist ( gameplay wise), i remember clearing maps after maps in alpha3 with just that one map attack.
Wasn't Eva unit 1 in F Final also a map clearer by itself?

It does. Mostly, the universe got wiped, because the Ideon was destroyed. Actively, it can destroy and cut planets to pieces. The Ideon destroyed the universe, when it died.

Yes it had destroyed singular planets and the life on them over the course of the series, making sure that all life that was left was that at the final battle, but the universe itself was untouched. The idea that it blew up a whole universe seems to just be a fan misconception based on the memes. Yes it was said in the show that it contained enough power to theoretically pull it off, but in the end it didn't.
The souls of the dead then flew through the cosmos that is still clearly intact through familiar places, finally seeding a fresh new planet with their souls (my personal guess, Earth, our Earth), presumably kick-starting new life on the planet.

@@jrickducking6685 Only some attacks are friendly fire-proof, notably Cybuster's Cyflash and Valsione's Psycho Blaster. Other powerful MAP attacks tend to damage allies and force the player to strategize. Ideon's LV5 Ide Guage MAP attacks have insane ranges; so the game imposes several limitations to prevent the player from abusing them.

Both of Ideon’s Map Attacks have infinite range.
The sword is just two lines that extend across the map to the right and left of Ideon, but the gun...oh boy the gun.
It extends in a pyramidal shape, starting in front of ideon, and then just grows until it reaches the end of the map.
In some stages, with some setup, it is able to kill literally every single unit in the map (including allies).
and not a single one of the characters you saw in this video survived
The ideon music in this video makes me feel like i am being tortured by the universe itself
I hope you have time to translate the Ideon bad end from Alpha Gaiden, the one in which everyone gets horrified and your game resets since the universe is dead.

It's a real pain to use until it gets the Map Ideon Gun (late 40's I think). The Ideon Sword was only so useful. But man did Ideon get kills after mission 52. I forgot whether Ideon or Banpreos got top kills in the end because both became extreme map spammer toward the end (endless STMC missions)..
Kind of sad that the Ideon Gun didn't do 99999 damage (but use up all his ep or something) because that's the _truth_ of Ideon's lore and power.

eh, that and they have other series to represent a god-like level of power now. Gurren Lagann isn't as apocalyptic, but Spiral Energy is described as a cosmic force that spurs on evolution, but can become so uncontrollable that it will consume the galaxy. Same as Getter Rays trying to induce humanity as a whole into evolving into an avatar for itself; which fits nicely into the space of the Ide literally controlling the emotions of the Solo Ship crew in order to bring the galaxy closer to the event horizon by Invoking its power

Ideon is strong for sure, but it's going to take some real creativity for people to make Mechs stronger than Mazinger Zero and STTGL.
Mazinger Zero has some crazy shit on a *conceptual* level. It can literally grab possibilities from different timelines to win a fight.
And STTGL is just fucking BIG. We have never actually seen what it can truly do be I don't think even Ideons univwear destroying detonation would affect some thing sevrel billion times the size of it.

@@gakeeeen because ideon at its strongest is universe level if you wank its self destruction hard af (its more galaxy level from what you see but let's assume it's the whole universe). it was destroyed by a planet level attack. gurren lagann in its second strongest form tanks a universe level attack like it's nothing and absorbs it. it can also manipulate probability so that its attacks always hit their mark. it would literally one shot ideon and then absorb the resulting explosion.

The Ide killed all life, it didn't "reset the universe." If the conceptual power of Spiral Power exists it can't just erase it.
