I think this fight of whitebeard vs akainu was the best of the show even though it was so short. Their powers didn't overpower the fight. The animations where they dodge attacks or tanking them are also so damn clean. It's just so raw
akainu>oldbeard, akainu beat the crap out of whitebeard before he killed ace, then whitebeard jumped him from behind like the "brave man" hes supposed to be, despite taking a shot from behind. Pre-timeskip akainu in my opinion had the uppper hand over whitebeard, only reason he got destroyed was because he got jumped from behind, also even though akainu got caught in whitebeards combo, he was able to go on the offensive and hit whitbeard fatally almost winning the fight if whitebeard had not had the will to keep going. I should note that akainu has probably gotten MUCH stronger in the timeskip, so in my opinion i believe akainu wins vs oldbeard.

Akainu could use observation haki, buy instead he preferred to attack helpless Luffy and got karma for this. There's no any statements that Akainu became stronger after time-skip.

I do not want to start a long debate but cowardice does not determine raw strength of someone. akainu showed a little cowardice in the fight but that doesnt mean hes weak, attacking someone from behind when they are oblivious and unable to respond does effect the outcome of the fight, as you are able to get the first blow. For example, akainu has in my opinion more attack potency than whitebeard in terms of straight hitting someone, he blew 3 massive holes through whitebeard, ace and jimbei with a simple punch. I do agree oldbeard is strong but he cant be as strong as you think, if we go off of the narrative the new generation/blackbeard and others have to be stronger than whitebeard. Dealt with 2 of the strongest wb commanders. Wb gets a cheap shot on akainu and he gets up straight away.
