nice review. one of the big selling points that you didn't focus on, is that it's a unique phone. most people get either an iphone or a samsung and while they don't look identical you could not say either of them look unique. since there is not any real strong negatives to the keyone, (the smaller screen doesnt mean you can't consume media on it, it's just not the USP), the real question is do you want to have the same phone as everyone else, or do you want to be different?
NothingButTech88 That was such as amazing review..good work. I just ordered a Keyone.. a little late but I can't wait. Also looking forward for the Keytwo
The irony in the placement of this young lady is appreciated Android Central. Many people would assume this phone is strictly for aging professionals but ignore the fact that many younger people might actually enjoy it as well. Nice job highlighting the pros and cons and I liked the day-to-day format as well. Keep it up!
Well maybe her since she makes money but not the typical punk kid who just wants to Facebook and snapchat. Those are the people who cause companies like blackberry to change ways to fit the retards not the sophisticated people
It shows the dedication you have for a review when you spend a day with every feature and check everything so thoroughly well done good luck for future reviews............ will always come to android central for future reviews
Excellent review, nice pace of explaining how you see/experience the phone day by day. Blackberry has a returning customer because of you :) Keep up the good work!
Now that's an original review. As a long time user BlackBerry user, I love the younger perspective. Couple of notes for you. 1. Go into display settings to change the open app layout you're not happy with. 2. The keyboard scroll issue is something I've not encountered on the Priv or Passport? Since other reviewers with preproduction KEYone's haven't noticed this, I'm thinking it's just your device. Should be smooth as butter. 3. Use the finger print sensor instead of the left hand power button to unlock device 4. Learn to flick to type instead of pushing the desired predictive word. (It learns how you write after a few weeks). Again, thanks. Really good stuff!
I do like the the fact that you gave us daily updates in a week. Wish more reviewers would do that since thoughts may change from one day to another. Cant wait to get mine!
You don't need to press the power button to wake the screen. You can double tap the screen to wake it up or use your fingerprint to unlock your screen. But great review!
Mashud Sikandar double tap is obsolete on the keyone because the fingerprint scanner is so fast on the keyone. power button is best used to lock the device and hang up calls (needs to be well placed out of the way to avoid dropping calls).
I get your lock button argument, but quite don't understand hanging up calls bit. Hanging up calls, you press the red end call soft key in the phone UI.
Mashud Sikandar power button to hang up is a lot more convenient than a touch screen hangup. 1. you don't need to look at your device to hangup calls. number 2. you can open other apps and use them while talking on the phone then end the call without having to go back into the phone app. what this device needs is advanced interaction improvements. eg. put the phone face down to lock the device. and maybe lift the device to see the time/lockscreen notifications. those features exist on the priv, but not on the keyone. that said, the fingerprint scanner is so fast that the lift to wake feature is only a minor gripe. Hold to stay awake works.
Puzzling that she seemed to like so much of the phone apart from the security then at the end that and the keyboard is all she could recommend it on. The BlackBerry apps that it comes with make Android smoother imho. The shortcuts and battery life are fantastic! Great efficiencies just built in.
Very happy to see all the positive comments on this video. This is the best review of review keyone ive seen. Very informative. Love your confidence and your choice of words and content. Keep it up!
Wow, that was awesome. Best review I've seen in a while. Positive, friendly, energetic, down to the point and fast... but not too fast :-). Take over Android Central. After that it's world domination :D
I think I'm one of the last dinosaurs that can't wait to get my hands on a real keyboard again. I just can't stand virtual keyboards and I've tried all types. The only other phone that I might wait for instead of the KeyOne is the Note 8 but I'm really liking the KeyOne reviews.
Great first review. This is the best hands on review that I've seen so far. You did a good job of describing what it is like to use this phone everyday. If I can offer one criticism, just slow down a little bit. No need to be nervous. You nailed It, kid.
Great job Jacklyn! Nice video. 2:22, you can also swipe down on the keyboard to bring up special characters. Moving the keyboard down would probably affect the balance while typing. 10:00, you mean swipe down or up right? Rather than hold down.
Little tip for the numbers, slide from top to bottom gesture on the keyboard brings up the symbols on the screen, and slide once more brings up the numbers.
Very informative review..someone that has used the Keyone for a solid week and daily updates... a great idea! So many reviews seem to be presented by someone that has opened the box and started up the device and that's it.....I'm anxious for the Canadian release as I am certainly going to be ordering one of these devices. I was fortunate enough to get a hands on with it at the CB Meetup in Winnipeg in March and it is *impressive*. Once again great production Jacklyn I will be sure to follow you as you seem very unbiased.
Cheers form France! Thanks for a very lively and balanced review (which I was not expecting from someone your age to be honest). Lots of reviews of the K1 out there and actually very impressed by yours. Just ordered the K1 . Moved from BB10 (Q10, Classic and PP) to iOS about a year ago and I can't wait to start using a physical keyboard again!
The keyboard scroll jumping mentioned in this video is app specific. My Passport SE does the same thing in Google Docs. But scrolling does not jump in other apps.
Cant deny the fact that the phone is optimized for usage via the larger battery chip integration and charge. I think that would be worth mentioning as a reason to purchase in addition to the other items you mentioned. But a great and fair balanced summary and one of the best out there. Great job.
I should be receiving mine today. I have no nostalgia for the keyboard as i used to actually find BB phones to be novelties that not everyone who had them really needed them, so i stuck to my Nokia. But back them there were a few varieties of phone shapes and sizes whereas these days they are all just slabs of glass. This is when I truly feel that BB phones shine the most and I'm willing to give it a shot. Super excited.
very nice reveiew done this is one of the best reviews that i have ever seen! looking forward to buying it as my secondary phone, a job well done😃 keep up with the good work!!
Great video to start off on Android Central (congrats for getting on this channel btw). Really like the format that you did with it where you gave an update after every day, really good idea. Keep it up!!!
Thank-you for the great review. Another review mentioned the video is a not very smooth. I'm wondering if you experienced that problem? Also, this is the first review where I saw the screen take giant leaps when scrolling with the capacitive keyboard. Wonder if that was unique to the app or, as you mentioned, a possible software bug.
Nice review. I agree with the comments that it was refreshing, thorough, engaging, and well done. Did you try typing with the swipe up for the predictive text (as opposed to touching the predicted word on the screed)? I didnt look like it from the video, but it is a MUCH faster/more enjoyable typing experience when you swipe up towards one of the three auto-complete options. Ive been doing it so long on the passport, and priv that I never type out any full words anymore - the BB devices learn my most often used words and phrases and are now very accurate at predicting the correct ones, making me a faster typer than any of my non-BB using friends.
the best review so far on the keyone, I just went out to view this, I currently have a blackberry passport and the keyone keyboard feels so cramped and small compared to the passport. i'll need to think about whether it's worth getting or not.
Jacklyn wow I can't believe I missed this great review. Its definitely been a while and been busy but have to say love how you broke down the review for this.Great Job Thanks for sharing Deb ✌️👍👌
Thank you sharing your experience. How is the performance of this phone currently like after using it for couple of months. Is it getting sluggish or has lags in performance or while switching apps or multi tasking. Please share your review. Thanks once again
Reasonable review. a couple of things ontop of the misunderstood power button gripe. punctuation is more commonly used in a sentence than numbers so a top row of punction makes more sense than a row of numbers. the BlackBerry passport has a virtual row of punctuation (swipe down for numbers to appear). this device is not just for those that want a keyboard. The keyone is also for those that want programmable one click shortcuts that can perform their most repetitive daily tasks. The keyboard typing opinions need to be more practice orientated. Of course somebody who does something for years won't be as good when they try something different. Practice makes perfect.
Was she really old enough when BlackBerry was in their prime? Bb10 was an amazing OS with the exemption of the app ecosystem. I personally hate the android experience on BlackBerry, but there are basically only 2 options and I'm forcing myself to adjust.. great video..
Hey I have this phone arriving today, but I have a question. Does the outstanding battery life offset screen size in your opinion for media consumption? I can handle the shorter display, but battery life cripples my experience with my iPhone 7 plus.
I want to ask something. Is the PKB only attached to blackberry keyboard software or I could use other keyboard? I mean I love to use the pkb but I want to use the swiftkey enginee because it's has better prediction for my language which mostly informal in day to day use.
Well done Jacklyn!! Good review! And if that phone operates as fast as you talk ....good enough for me:-). But I'm old dude though! More importantly, I really miss blackberry! Thanks! And I reckon I'll end up getting it. If for anything, just to be different! Social media not big on my list, but like to read newspaper, text, send emails, book my work calendar etc. What do ya think?
Gotta admit I miss the physical keyboard and long battery life, but I work in crappy weather, alot of rain. Should I wait for an IP67 device ? I'm looking for a work phone not a toy, so, the Keyone , the Motion or the Pixel 2 . Not the XL, heaven forbid.
Could you give us some more information about the battery life, maybe some SOT and other stuff like that. I am thinking about getting this phone because of the battery life and then the keyboard. BTW awesome video!!!!!
I loved your review. I know Samsung has been great but I'm considering a new brand before I consider IPhone. I'm thinking i may get this but would definently love to see a review of the final version out with the software updates. I'll be looking forward to your next review.
ok, I just have to ask. I've been a subscriber on your personal channel for quite some time. I think you do a very thorough job in your reviews. BUT... what do to have against sleeves?
latest and greatest and fun and the device flies seems you liked the device. It seems you had problems to use the camera but but I had the same problem with the priv and dtek series but gets better and the camera software is still not optimised. nice review
So young, so confident and smoothly talking. If she's reading a teleprompt, sure doesn't look it. Overall, it's a good watch for a very young youtuber.
Good review Jacklyn, I think a lot of blackberry users will still like and keep the Passport as it runs the BB10 OS. Yes it's a odd screen with only a 3 row keyboard. Even as a 3 year old phone it holds it's own in terms of looks, speed and no nonsense operation. I wish other venders would go with a keyboard like the passport as this would be great. Of corse we could just keep a small laptop around... Aggggg.
great overall review she came across as very confident and kept it professional. she's got big things ahead for her in the tech youtube world. keep it up. i dont mean to come off as judgmental but it sounds like you might have a small speech impediment and you differently didnt let that slow you down. (correct me if im wrong there please) i was engaged from beginning to end
Up there with the best reviews. Not sure if it is possible but the track pad sensitivity may be adjustable. So happy to see BB still producing great phones. I am a dedicated BB guy but I do get the BB Android. I have a feeling so many Android users will try it, and get the physical keyboard. As for the BB guys who went to Android, so many of them will come back.
I can't get over the way people complain about the power key location. Same spot on my priv, I would probably be annoyed if it was somewhere else on phone.
Bryan Bouwman I think it holds true to blackberry's design history which I respect, but since this is a challenge video I thought I would mention it as a obstacle in getting used to the phone. Thanks for watching:)
Austin Allen going to go out on a limb here and assume the "88" at the end of her username delineates her birth year, which would make her 29 so certainly feasible.
lovely girl on the test of phone, awesome, and love that report. looking forward to the classic blackberry test report just like Q10 20 PASSPORT,? how do you feel every day when using this stuffs?
I was told some years ago that physical keyboard phones are superior for maintaining situational awareness - once your fingers have located the home row keys you can use muscle memory for writing the bulk of the text, this can't really be done on a screen keyboard as you naturally have to focus in on the virtual keys to position them in relative terms. I'm trying to find some good reference material on this but I think it's a very overlooked aspect of the keyboard phone; I think the whole notion of it being "antiquated" presumes that the virtual keyboard is progressive; it's not, it's just an engineering streamlining exercise (that dates back to the 80's actually).
I think what you've got should be the retail version but not preproduction anymore. Coz we're able to buy this phone here in UK since May the forth. I've received a firmware update since I started using the keyone for work tho. After using this for a few days, I do feel the software on isn't fully optimised yet. Sometimes the keyboard shortcuts doesn't work on the home screen or reacts very slowly and the scrolling on the keyboard isn't that smooth all the time. Overall it's a great phone for me. The screen is big enough for Web browsing and watching RUclips. But on software side, there're still quite a lot for BlackBerry to do.
That scrolling problem is also present on priv. It isn't like that on all browser's. Been using simplicity and puffin with no issues. I really love pyrope but this issue is present on it so no go.
it does have double tap to sleep. try it on the home screen. it doesn't work on the lock screen. but that would be pointless since the screen goes to black when not touched on the lock screen in a matter of seconds.
I used to think I'm faster on VKB and maybe I am but I made so many mistakes that it was driving me nuts and ultimately slowing me down. Ever since I got the Passport with a PKB, I no longer make mistakes and as a result am on average faster. I will try the KeyOne but the Passport keyboard is much wider and easier to type on in my opinion.
very nice review but blackberry keyone is good with social media maybe not with games that need high performance but it's in the middle when it comes to performance not very bad I think !!!
Thank you for all the nice comments:) Bigger and better content next week.
NothingButTech88 hi.whatsapp?
You're really cute some way
nice review. one of the big selling points that you didn't focus on, is that it's a unique phone. most people get either an iphone or a samsung and while they don't look identical you could not say either of them look unique. since there is not any real strong negatives to the keyone, (the smaller screen doesnt mean you can't consume media on it, it's just not the USP), the real question is do you want to have the same phone as everyone else, or do you want to be different?
love your stuff !!
NothingButTech88 That was such as amazing review..good work. I just ordered a Keyone.. a little late but I can't wait. Also looking forward for the Keytwo
Anyone else feel like, really old watching this?
funny is how i was scrolling down the comments looking for a comment like this. i feel so old like WOW
Your not old she's just a 12 year old, she is too young lol
The irony in the placement of this young lady is appreciated Android Central. TECH-FIGHTER yes! You are so right.

Great job on the review! I think you have a long future with android central. Looking forward to more reviews from you.
Josh Takacs Thank you, Josh!
It shows the dedication you have for a review when you spend a day with every feature and check everything so thoroughly well done good luck for future reviews............ will always come to android central for future reviews
Woah, you are working with Android Central? This is awesome!!! You are getting more recognized now across RUclips, keep it up!!😎😎😎
no doubt by far the best review on the keyone. she even pointed out who it's geared for and who it is not gear for.
Jorge Alfaro Thank you!
Excellent review, nice pace of explaining how you see/experience the phone day by day. Blackberry has a returning customer because of you :) Keep up the good work!

Hugo L Thank you so much! Love Michael's videos:)
NothingButTech88 awesome reveiw best ive seen on this beast
OMG I remember watching a few videos from Jacklyn when she was just reviewing headphones from her room. Now she's on Android Central? Awesome job!
Well done!!! Its refreshing to hear from a young one using a Keyone! Very down to earth review indeed!
You don't need to press the power button to wake the screen. You can double tap the screen to wake it up or use your fingerprint to unlock your screen. But great review!

already better than most reviewers on RUclips I'm subscribed to. keep doing your thing!

were you 3 or 4 years old when you used to use a blackberry?
I've actually never felt the urge to comment on a video but this was just done so well. Very very well done.
Cheers form France! Thanks for a very lively and balanced review (which I was not expecting from someone your age to be honest). Lots of reviews of the K1 out there and actually very impressed by yours. Just ordered the K1 . woa, it's so awesome to see you here. so cool how I've seen you grow over the years to get here to Android Central, keep up the great work!
dltReviews :)
very nice reveiew done this is one of the best reviews that i have ever seen!
looking forward to buying it as my secondary phone,
a job well done😃 keep up with the good work!!
Great review! Loved the daily format for a week. Feel that we get a better sense of how the device really performs and the pros/cons.
Justin Joy :)
Great video to start off on Android Central (congrats for getting on this channel btw). Really like the format that you did with it where you gave an update after every day, really good idea. Keep it up!!!
StikeTech Thank you:)
Good review :) curious if the phone would tip over when typing since the keyboard is placed really low?
Your killing it, keep up the good work & continue to grow. We need to support our youth and encourage them to do great things.
the best review so far on the keyone, I just went out to view this, I currently have a blackberry passport and the keyone keyboard feels so cramped and small compared to the passport. i'll need to think about whether it's worth getting or not.
Jacklyn wow I can't believe I missed this great review. Its definitely been a while and been busy but have to say love how you broke down the review for this.Great Job Thanks for sharing Deb ✌️👍👌
Debra Dukes Thank you:)
good review, will it be available on Verizon? Thanks
Thank you sharing your experience. How is the performance of this phone currently like after using it for couple of months. Is it getting sluggish or has lags in performance or while switching apps or multi tasking. Please share your review. Thanks once again
low key a great review! Congrats Jacklyn joining Acentral!
Thank you:)
To get to the numbers swipe down on the keyboard and it pulls up the virtual keyboard and you hit the corresponding key on the physical keyboard.
Very real and practical review. I hope the sensitivity on the scrolling gets fixed!
great video. really find you engaging and like the format/views.
Peter Hitchen :)
She did a thorough review. Very nice! 👍
Sooooo happy to see you working on Android Central! 👍
Thank you:)
Awesome review! Admire your style and 'to the point-ness'. Keep up the good work!
Fantastic review. I cannot wait to watch other reviews from you. Kudo's for giving this device a full week.
James Rainey ☺️

InnerFire6213 :)
Really enjoyed this review. Top work, well done. 😁
Was she really old enough when BlackBerry was in their prime? Bb10 was an amazing OS with the exemption of the app ecosystem. I personally hate the android experience on BlackBerry, but there are basically only 2 options and I'm forcing myself to adjust.. great video..
First and only video Ive seen that covers the scrolling issue - is this fixed yet?
that video was super duper spot on! great job!
Thank you:)
finally for lefthanded people, this could be great key positioning. is long web browsing good using this phone?
you are very tough on the keyone screen size. how different is it from the iPhone 6e or 5e that millions use?
I'm amazed people keep saying the keyboard shortcuts are unique to this phone. You can also do this with the PRIV...
Hey I have this phone arriving today, but I have a question. Does the outstanding battery life offset screen size in your opinion for media consumption? I can handle the shorter display, but battery life cripples my experience with my iPhone 7 plus.
They've fixed the scrolling on the retail units. It's nice and smooth now. :) Just FYI.
I want to ask something. Is the PKB only attached to blackberry keyboard software or I could use other keyboard?
I mean I love to use the pkb but I want to use the swiftkey enginee because it's has better prediction for my language which mostly informal in day to day use.

I bought the blackberry keyone in Sliver and black edition this last week
ok, I just have to ask. I've been a subscriber on your personal channel for quite some time. I think you do a very thorough job in your reviews.
BUT... what do to have against sleeves?
latest and greatest and fun and the device flies seems you liked the device. It seems you had problems to use the camera but but I had the same problem with the priv and dtek series but gets better and the camera software is still not optimised. nice review

Well done review. Very honest, to the point. Thanks for that.
Came here to see Jacklyns video. Congrats on being a part of the team.
do you know it's going to be available for T-Mobile, thank you
How snapchat on this device?
Up there with the best reviews.
Not sure if it is possible but the track pad sensitivity may be adjustable.
So happy to see BB still producing great phones.

Good review, I guess I won't be dropping my Moto Z Play for this. I hope it sells well enough to not discourage TLC and Blackberry
The review is great and I love the format. However, the height of their sales were in 2010/2011. You were using a Blackberry then?
Austin Allen She's like 20, right?
Austin Allen going to go out on a limb here and assume the "88" at the end of her username delineates her birth year, which would make her 29 so certainly feasible.
I was born in 89 and I used an 8800 first and then I had 2 Curves. I loved my blackberry.
lovely girl on the test of phone, awesome, and love that report.
looking forward to the classic blackberry test report just like Q10 20 PASSPORT,? how do you feel every day when using this stuffs?
Hi Jacki ---> nice review ...keeping doing more on K1--loved it
Regu Sankar Thanks, Regu!
yw! keep rocking..
Any idea if this key one is trustworthy and secure for all my personal data and banking
Very well done and informative review. Nice job!
Congrats on be part of Android Central. Great awesome review... also she has a person channel NothingButTech88 tech related folks.
Tech4YourNeeds Thank you:)
That scrolling problem is also present on priv. It isn't like that on all browser's. Been using simplicity and puffin with no issues. I really love pyrope but this issue is present on it so no go.
How did snapchat work? Did it look weird bc of the sizing of the screen?
when is jack working for acentral? awesome! :D
Suryashekhar Das Thank you:)
Thanks! I really loved this review!!!
it does have double tap to sleep. try it on the home screen. it doesn't work on the lock screen. but that would be pointless since the screen goes to black when not touched on the lock screen in a matter of seconds.
She said she used it to run her business...? What type of business?
bubbleLoppicus My personal channel, and social media management:)
NothingButTech88 that's really good. Keep up the good work.
For your age, you are great! Way to go girl. Keep up the good work :)
Hit the Sym key & swipe down on it, that will bring up a touch screen number key pad
