Awesome saw Leon! Thanks for all the knowledge you share with us. I’m currently in a learning curve concerning chainsaw spark plugs. I like the vintage saws mostly, yet comparing vintage to modern saws, I am interested in the type spark plug you use with the specific saw. I have a McColluch 10-10 automatic Homelite Super XL automatic, and more late model Husky/Stihl saws. What spark plugs are your best recommendation with these saws. The resistor/non resistor plugs confuse me. Could you give your opinion for us? Thanks for all your knowledge helping us.

Well that's a good question...resistor spark plugs are supposed to reduce voltage at the plug and refine the interference into the various radio frequencies. Ever had an old car where you can hear the ignition "whine" in the background noise of the radio? I've read that modern computer systems on cars can be affected as well. Anyhow, I stay away from resistor plugs, even on electronic ignition saws (which some folks believe need a resistor plug). For the collecting I do, I stock Champion CJ6, DJ6J & DJ7J spark plugs...that accommodates 90% or more of my needs. In general I believe in using the brand and spec plug a manufacturer recommended, but I take liberties once in a while (especially where a resistor plug is spec'd.).
