  • Our trip led us through Memphis so we wanted to stop by the Bass Pro Shop at the Memphis Pyramid to see it in person. A unique place to see for sure! Afterwards we head down to our camp for the night and fix our first road trip meal.
We've been having problem getting quality wifi to rely on and my 5G hotspot hasn't been very helpful either. We'll get videos uploaded any chance we can while traveling.

Any one else have black screen for over a minute? That is a really dark interior for a Bass Pro. The one in OKC is not that dark. I hope we can visit it some day. My husband used to live next to Graceland over 50 yrs ago. They used to play ball in back part of Graceland. There used to be an amusement part in West Memphis AR. Lake City are has great watermelons.

Ok they don't live in Memphis Bass Pro true I went to a Guns N Rose's concert at the Pyramid back in 91. When the FedEx Forum was built the Pyramid was abandoned for years and had fallen into decay.

Glad you got up and left the eating establishment there. More people need to walk out when they are made unwelcome. Then these places will start correcting their employees. They need us, we do not need them.
And there is no need to get angry. Just be courteous and walk out.

It’s interesting what you said about being dark. We tried to go to several bbq places that were highly rated and didn’t even feel safe getting out of the car. My jaw hit the floor when my husband didn’t even want to visit the pyramid. He got the same dark feeling from the whole city. And he is a big fan of all things sporting goods. For him to just drive by and not even go says a lot! I agree it’s a gut feeling. Something ain’t right in that city.

The history of that pyramid is interesting. We lived in a suburb of Memphis for 14 years. There was once an exhibit about the Titanic in the pyramid. It was one of the best I had ever seen. There was one part that was so well done, you could feel and see what the passengers of the Titanic likely saw and possibly what they might have felt. The pyramid was empty for years, until the Bass Pro Shop deal was finalized.

I used to work for a local bakery when I was in high school. That man was a really good man but he was exacting with his work and expected the same from his people. I'm telling you as far as doughnuts and the cakes that I had there wasn't better anywhere he was really good at what he did. It sad businesses can't compete with these big stores anymore. When he passed his son took over and did well for years but just couldn't keep up.
It natural to get funny/weird feelings about places sometimes. I'm not big on supernatural stuff being Christian but God gave us feelings for a reason.
That KOA looks nice the one here is pretty small but I was driving a Ready-Mix truck(cement truck). It was difficult to get around but I didn't go very far I was pouring a pad for a new office/double wide trailer. It would be really nice to have your own place to sleep once you get there. How much do they charge for renting a spot? Hope your road trip keeps going well. Can't wait to see what's next.

Well, a Bass Pro Shop is a commercial business. The other BPS I have been to did not seem to be that dark though. I have an idea that the insides of the windows(all sides) are covered to help keep the heat load down on the AC system or the inside would be like a glass hot house.

We use our convection oven *a lot*. With only two of us, it is super handy to make everything from a full meal to warming up leftover pizza fast. Best thing is it doesn’t heat up the whole kitchen!
