The more I use notion, the more I hit the wall of its limitations and weaknesses. You are definitely my favourite Notion guide and I would have long abandoned it with you. Thanks again.
Fantastic content. Thank you for showing how to build these to-do lists. Again, it has made my novel writing process a lot easier, being able to break things down into manageable tasks will allow me to focus clearly on what needs to be done. Cheers! I am learning so much from your tutorials, they're really great.
This was very helpful! I'm brand new to notion & felt quite overwhelmed. I greatly appreciate your detailed explanation of how to do things. I'm watching more of your videos so I can build my notion. Thanks so much!
As always your video is so clear and informative. I really appreciate the overview followed by step by step set up that you provide. I am just trying to learn Notion and your videos are my guide and they inspire me to try using Notion to simplify many different parts of life!! Keep it up - you have a real gift!!
I've never saw a best content about To-do list management using Notion. I'm from Brazil and I was exactly looking for it for many days, but in portuguese it not exists Thank you for shared it. That was a perfect class.👊👊👊
This is exactly what I needed right now 🥺 I'm struggling to make checkboxes + progress bar to track my coding journey in notion and SUPER GLAD I found this great video. Thanks a lot, man!
I don't know if that was the case at the time of recording but there's a rollup option that allows you to display the percentage of checked tasks in various ways, one of which is a progress bar with some nice customization possibilities. So if you want something like shown in the video but with less steps or just simpler to implement, there you have it.
When I am following along I have set the related projects in tasks but they’re not showing up in Project tutorial table. Can you educate me on where I have gone wrong, I’ve gone over the instructions a few times and can’t see what I am missing. Thank for the great tutorials they’re very helpful in learning Notion
Excellent tutorial as always productive dude, however on 27:09, when i click on projects, i don't see the previous relation that i created following your tutorial, is it important? Did I miss something crucial, or do i have to manually add it myself? Thanks as always for the tutorials and I have recently found your channel and follow along with your tutorials.
I tried recreating these templates, but it goes wrong all the time. Are you willing to leave the template so we can duplicate it? because I really love it!!
Thanks for the video! Is there a way to create a daily or even weekly to-do list that is connected to the project and tasks data bases? I love the project and tasks template but I feel I need daily to-do list planning additional to this system and I don't want to have to double up with task entries.
If I had an idea I would have added it. Notion isn't great for automating things like this. It's pretty much impossible, I recommend Coda for these situations instead of Notion. I'll be making some more videos about Coda soon.
Hi Carter, Your channel is incredible. I've learned so much about Notion from watching your videos. I'm currently in the process consolidating all of my projects and tasks into Notion so that I can have a single system to manage all of my tasks. The system is very GTD-esque with Areas of Focus, Milestones, Projects, Sub-projects, and Tasks. I've organized all of the content into databases. However, after spending hours building the system up, there's one hurdle that I can't seem to get over. When creating a task from a project or sub-project page, how can I have that task automatically inherit the upper-level categories like Areas of Focus or Milestones without manually needing to input this information? The problem I'm facing now is that when I create a task, inputting all of the upper-level-category information is very cumbersome and inefficient. Any feedback that you might have would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Keep up the amazing work!
You can remove the columns for the project and just create a rollup from the task and rollup everything you want to see there. It should show you the properties for the corresponding task if you roll up, that way you can pull in everything from the related item. You may need to do some filtering to configure this how you need it.
HI There, I am up to To Do List 2_ and I am just up to the part of creating a rollup column and choosing 'calculate'> count all when checked but it isn't showing up it only shows 'count all" or percentage checked or unchecked. How do I make it count when checked?
Hi there. I am wanting just a simple Kanban board that has maybe 4 columns for Job on the go and the columns show progress. Columns would be say, Not Started, Started, Finished, Needs Invoicing. Title of the boards, "Jobs". Then I can slide each job from left to right each time the jobs progresses. Very simple I'm sure...???
Yes, quite simple. Each card would be a job. Create a property called “status” and enter your different statuses, then change database to board view with “group by ‘select’ property”.
I'm having an issue with creating a master database in Notion that integrates with two other databases: the Project Manager, which sources from a Talent Manager and a CRM. I want the master database to feature a progress bar that updates based on task completion within the template (or new project) produced by the Project Manager. Each new project needs a template containing all necessary tasks for the project's lifecycle. I want to use a "rollup" counter or a "formula" to reflect the total tasks and their completion status in the Project Manager, but the databases aren't syncing properly.
sadly for me, new to Notion (sort-of), by not seeing the left menu/organization i am lost where all these elements are being created so that means i will have stuff all over the place and i dont like disorganized stuff. is it possible to see more of the organization of what was created as well?
The left side bar is always an option you can open and close it. I recommend watching more of my recent videos on databases and Notion full guides before diving into this task list.
My problem with To-Do lists in Notion is the non-practical mobile apps. They're slow. Notion can be so much more. Ps. Do you have any videos for taking university notes in Notion?
can We Sync Database using FOrmula because i want to create 7 Layer database 1.Idea 2.Sub-Task 3.Task 4.Project 5.Sub-Project 6.Goals 7.Sub-Goals Basic Issue i Am facing is I am not able to create cross link between all the database like sub goal is related to all other six data base and similar goal is connected to other 6 database but issue here is I had to fill all manually but I want to fill this automatically if I say my sub goal -1 is related to goal 1 and my goal 1 is related to sub project 1 then want to auto fill sub project column in sub goal database ( I know we can do this by rollup function but rollup function are one way I want two way automation )
Maybe change the format of your photo. It may fix the issue. PNG Converter: image.online-convert.com/convert-to-png Jpeg Converter: image.online-convert.com/convert-to-jpg If this doesn’t help, try cropping the image to a smaller size. If none of that works I’d just contact Notion Support and let them know they have a bug. I hope that helps.
How did you create the "Backend Items" that show up on right? I have created my page Master To Do List but I don't know how to make the word backend show up.
Hey, I would like to know if there is the possibility of making this link between checklists. For example: I'm making my study organization; the content is divided into subjects, then by content and then by topics of the content (ex: Geography: 1 History of Geography. 1.1 Colonial expansion and geographical thought. 1.2 Modern Geography and the national question in Europe...; Economics: 1 Microeconomics. 1.1 Consumer Demand. 1.1.1 Preferences. 1.1.2 Consumer Equilibrium. 1.1.3 Demand Curve. 1.1.4 Price Elasticity and Income Elasticity. 1.2. Producer Supply....). I'd like to make a main to-do list for each subject and another to-do list for each topic and subtopic. As I'm going to complete the subtopics and topics, the main list completes automatically. It is possible? did you understand my question?
This is genuinely one of the best tutorials for notion on RUclips.
Glad it helped! 🥂

It is showing "argument of type does not satisfy slice"
I don't see how you created the To-Do List (Version 1) @ 1:53?
Does the formula only work with older version of Notion? For some reason when I copy and paste the formula in the description it doesnt work
use substring instead of slice
Is there any link to download the second daily to-do template?
They’re both in the same template download. You can find it on gumroad
