This is the best EQ-200 video out there. So informative and easy to follow. Everyone else is basic and fluff. Thank you for showing us the practical flow.
Glad it was helpful! 😄
Maybe I'm getting old, but can't believe how obscure the Boss manual is re. footswitch assignment. Thanks for making the video!
Generally all Boss menus and manuals are utterly confusing. Either badly written or badly translated. The pedals do great things but only after you've watched channels like this. Many thanks.
Finally a useful video about the EQ200. Thank you. Had to subscribe.
Thank you Gary! 🙏🏻Have you checked this one too? ruclips.net/video/mZxxcWQ698g/видео.html 😉
Thank you, I now understand fully how this pedal works!
Awesome!
Thanks for sharing mate
I've been looking for a tutorial like this for a while.
Great, glad you enjoyed it! 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing all this - I just picked up my EQ200 - it’s pretty sweet!
It's a great pedal, hope you have fun with it 😄
Excellent video - really well produced
Thank you!
This helped massively! Thanks!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks this helps tremendously!
Awesome!, glad it helped! 🙏🏻
Great, as usual!!!
Thank you! 🙏🏻
great help, thanks
I now have set my on off switch function to do M-DN+ now I can go back a channel without having to go all the way around -- that is huge ! Thank you
Exactly! Makes a bit of a difference, right?! 😄
I'm looking at getting this pedal... Right now I use two boss GE-7's (one for the neck pickup w/ a volume boost and one for my bridge pickup). My question is when you switch to another M1, M2, ,M3 memory Eq setting..can you set the Level boost differently for each memory setting or is the Level only controlled manually with the slider?
Hello, I know this vid was a few years back but I love your explanations of how it works..... Can you have the two channels running independently at the same time? As in an acoustic guitar through channel A and percussion stomp box through channel B with separate independent eq's?
Thank you very much!
You're welcome!
Thanks for the video! I just purchased an EQ-200 and it amazes me how little information there is in the owner's manual. 😵💫
Thanks dude!! This was missing! Boss should add it to it’s channel…
Thank you! Don't forget to check my other 2 Boss EQ-200 videos, there's some more info in there that might be useful: ruclips.net/video/mZxxcWQ698g/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/6ev6_D1mvrs/видео.html 👍🏻
Motorize the Sliders, Add more buttons for dedicated ON/Off, Up/Down, A/B, and I will buy the EQ-500. I already have the EQ-200
Or put them on a small touch screen...The current implementation is only half-way from a "tweaking from where I am at" standpoint...
I've had this pedal for a week now... I've played 4 gigs with it. I love the range of the EQ. It's very accurate and powerful. When setting/adjusting the frequencies I have learned to make small adjustments. I still have my old GE-7 on my pedal board and the EQ-200 is much much more quieter (no hiss), but the old analog GE7 is warmer (not sure about the current GE7's). The digital Eq200 in comparison to the Analog GE7 takes a little getting used to, but with some fine adjustments it is possible to get very close to the warmness of the GE7. Here are couple things I dont like about it: It needs a third stomp switch for ON/OFF. Then the two existing stomp switches could be used to scroll up and down the presets.I also dont know why it is capable of storing 120+ presets? That's at least a hundred too many in my opinion, especially if you play live with this pedal.
Also, I dont like how I can only see the frequency graphic in the display and not which preset I'm on as well. Maybe there's a way to change this? When playing in a low light setting on stage you dont know which preset your on unless you stomp the switch to go to the next preset.... if the preset you want isnt next, you have to go all the way through the presets to get back to the one you wanted, that would have just been a click down in the order. This is a PAIN. (note: I know you can limit the number of presets it scrolls through and I know you can change the function of the ON/OFF switch to scroll down/up, but when you do that you have to hold the switch down to "activate" the switch and this turns the pedal OFF, then you can scroll up/down with the two stomp switches...then you have to hold down the ON/OFF switch to turn the pedal back ON.... this is USELESS in s live stage setting). Putting a 3rd ON/FF switch in the top/middle of the pedal would have solved this. I hope they fix this at some point and put a new model out because other than these issues I like the pedal.
PS: another good thing would be make to it function like a true A/B box for running two amps at once... Adding a Ground Lift and Phase inverter switch would be awesome (this would eliminate the HUM you get when running two amps at once through it)
Sorry, I was watching the video, specifically the expression pedal section but I didn’t see anything talking about whether or not this pedal has the ability to use an expression knob to switch through the presets. Sorry you might’ve said that but I must’ve missed it.
Is this a feature that the boss 200eq has?
Can the pedal be set to be graphic at all times, and not just show the view that it shows by default when you recall settings from a mem location?
I love the EQ200 but I’ve been tempted to sell mine and use the money towards a Empress ParaEQ deluxe
Is it possible to switch between channel A and B on the same preset? So eg. I have preset M1 on, link OFF, Channel A setting are rhythm sound, Channel B setting are lead sound and I want to switch between those two. And since I'm using the Boss ES8 together with this unit, is it also possible to switch via midi?
Hi Armand, that's a good question that made dive a bit deeper than I had before! 🤓
The basic answer is yes - with a couple of "buts", the biggest of which being this:
- On the EQ-200, you *can't* program a single switch to act as an A/B toggle (which would be awesome, but can't be done).
So using nothing but the EQ-200 itself, you're left with the option of assigning both switches to channels A and B, and do a bit of tap dancing to turn one on, and the other one off.
But if you're using the ES-8, you can have more options, and one of them might not even even require MIDI, unless you really want to. I don't have an ES-8 to test this with, but in theory it should work. Both start in the same point though, so:
- On the EQ-200's menu, change C1 FNC to A; change C2 FNC to B. This will activate the external control input to turn channels A / B on or off with an external pedal.
From here, you can connect one of the ES-8's 3 EXT CTL pairs to the ES-200's CTL1,2 port with a stereo cable, and you have direct control of the EQ-200's channels A and B from the ES-8's menu without even using MIDI.
But if you do want to use MIDI, you can choose the EQ-200's channel (don't forget to activate the CC IN option), and then send CC80 for CTL1 / channel A and CC81 for CTL2 / channel B.
Hope this helps - it's a bit awkward to explain with text, but without an ES-8 to show on video it's the best I can do for now. 🙏🏻
Cool. I am struggling to figure how to make on off switch apply to Chanel a and memory switch to switch on or off channel b. Can you help? 😃
Think I’ve sussed it but I expected both a and b channel lights to be on. Mmm… anyway it seems to work👍🏼
Ooops! The lights indicate the Chanel being edited. 🤭Thanks for your videos. Much clearer than trying to figure from the manual. All set up. Now to tone tweak. 🎸👍🏼
Wouldn't it be possible to switch between the different EQ presets using a programmable Effect Loop Switcher with MIDI capabilities like the Boss ES-8, RJM Mastermind PBC/6X or the Morningstar ML10X? Then you could use different EQ settings on the EQ-200 for each effect loop preset if you want.
Yup, and it's quite easy to do. That's another video that's been sitting on my to-do list for quite a while now...
@@PedalPlatform Awesome, then I'm looking forward to it 🙂
Hello,
I just bought this pedal the last week (via Thomann).
One of the reasons for acquiring it was that it allowed access to multiple configurations via MIDI.
My pedalboard outputs on channel 1, and I've set up the Boss-EQ200 to receive on that channel.
In other MIDI systems, as soon as you press programs on the pedalboard, the devices respond to the changes.
In my case, it is not being so.
I only have the doubt that the cable is the problem, since it is not the "original" from Boss, and perhaps the wiring is different.
I like Boss products. But the truth is that the manual for this device is quite poor.
If the midi channel is set, and the PC in option is set to On, then it might be the cable. There seem to be two "standards" currently, with different polarity on the TRS jack; the ones I'm using are the Befaco Type A, with red plugs (also got them from Thomann). Much cheaper than the original Boss cables, and so far they are doing the job.
@@PedalPlatform I've investigated later, and both the BOSS and the ROCKBOARD are Type A.
I use a Harley Benton MP-100, that works well with the rest of the devices.
I must keep investigating.
But it's truth that the Manual user is so poor.
Iread in some forum that "boss hate their users" jajajaja
Well, there's a reason I have 3 videos on the EQ-200 alone, and could probably do another one just on its MIDI implementation... in fact, I just might 🤣
What about midi and program change with this unit?
I'm still hoping to make a video specifically about that before it gets discontinued... 😬
So I have
input A = guitar
Output A = Amp
Input B = 1st Pedal on board
Output B = Last Pedal
Get the amp but no pedals.
Know what I’m doing wrong? I watched the routing video but since you don’t have FX or amp I’m confused
Assuming you're trying to get one EQ channel before the pedals, and the other after pedals / before amp:
Input A = Guitar
Output A = 1st pedal on board
Input B = Last pedal on board
Output B = Amp
That'll fix it :)
@@PedalPlatform thank you!!! Also thanks for those breakdowns. So much info. I’ve watched them multiple times. Cheers.;)
Thank you!
