@@wjjdjdrhehdjd7531 that my friend is an old russian song sung to put little kids and babies to sleep, but they modified it to make it 10× creepier, great trailer
Actually, she was expecting the Officer to take her and the child. That's why she tried to enter herself. He only took the child, but, in reality the mom wanted to go too.
Never understood why everyone hated the commander. Yes people were left to die when he ordered the gates to be closed, but it was either that or leaving the gates open and risking the death of those that escaped to the metro on top of those who didn't reach the gates (remember, every second counts when it comes to nuclear blasts).
Well think about it like this, the nukes are coming down and people are still entering the Metro. If the doors was still open people would still be flowing into the Metro and they wouldn't be able to close the doors. If that happens and the nukes hit then they'd be exposed to a lot of blast and a lot of radiation. Besides, you can't save everyone. You can only save the ones you can.
Soldiers such as that officer had specific orders to hold the gates open for a certain time period. The Soviet Union had such little things all calculated. There were food rations prepared for such an event and stored underground. In fact, you can even buy those rations online from Russian websites, they won't taste good because they have been in storage for over 30 years, they were originally intended for 15 years storage and were renewed accordingly. Everything was calculated and all members of the military had strict orders to follow even if it meant to open fire on the citizens.
The reason why he closed the gates was because they were only allowed to let in a certain number of people. That's why they were using a counter to get a rough estimate of how many people entered.
God, the moment the bombs dropped gave me chills. Those poor people. The sound of them being forced up against the doors always makes me wince. Metro is by far my favorite series.

How many secret bitter tears Will I shed that night! Sleep, my angel, calmly, sweetly, Bayushki bayu. 4. I will die from yearning, Inconsolably waiting, I'll pray the whole day long, And at night I'll wonder, I'll think that you're in trouble Far away in a strange land. Sleep now, as long as you know no sorrows, Bayushki bayu. 5.
