Running Across Vancouver's North Shore Twice in One Day - VANCOUVER 100K
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 16 июн 2021
- The Vancouver 100k follows the Baden Powell Trail, traversing Vancouver's North Shore mountains from east to west, at which point runners turn around and head all the way back to Deep Cove where they started. It's considered to be one the most difficult 100k's routes around, due to its technical trails, and more than 5,500 metres of elevation gain. This would be a training run for me and a bit of a tune up in preparation for my goal 100 mile race in 10 weeks.

The vibe in this film is just the best. The love, the friendship, the community, it all feels just wonderful. Thank you so much for sharing!
kudos to your wife for taking the day to support your run!
Best crew ever! She did a great job filming as well.
Loved this! It genuinely makes me so happy to have this sense that this is the equivalent of adults playing outside all day just like we would as kids. Envious of the community you have in Vancouver and can't wait for the next one!
That’s 100% how I feel most times, especially when playing in the mud 😉. We really are lucky to have such a supportive and inspiring trail running community here in Vancouver.
Thats exactly how I anticipate all my training. I was running up mountain and in the wood as a kid. Im stil loving it now !
Very cool! Makes me want to do some trail running in Vancouver
Awesome tuck duck and roll. Wished I catch all mine on the camera the way you did it. Almost like you planned it.
A new long-form adventure video from Jeff is an instant click for me, loved this one! The dude who made himself a whole pie to eat an aid station is absolutely next-level, that is something I aspire to :D
I only wish I’d stuck around long enough to get a slice! Thanks Matt.
Thank you so much for respecting the Quarry Rock closure! As a park ranger in North Vancouver we had so many people try to sneak onto the rock despite it being closed due to covid and deteriorating trail conditions. It’s back open now!
Who's that one dumbo who disliked this? I really look at your vids for motivation to get myself running! ❤
The wipeout was awesome, perfect camera placement when it landed! Turned into a great shot. Great video all around!
Thanks Morgan! So glad I caught that on camera 😂
I just love the way that you 'tell the story'! I'm taking notes over here ;-) Great video, thanks for taking us along the journey with you!
Another truely moving video. Thanks for all the creativity Jeff. You ROCK, more than that picture of the Rock rocking a rock!
This is the perfect video because it not only showcases your running achievement, but you also share with us facts about the land you traversed. You immerse the viewer in your journey while concurrently allow future trailblazers to plan their own trips. Bravo, Jeff!!!
Bucket list on my next visit to Vancouver.
What an amazing film Jeff. Beautiful. Had to watch it all in one go! Love the support from your crew and the community you have. It's inspiring for me here in London UK with my first marathon in 8 weeks time. I watch your vids and think there are no limits and the possibilities are endless. Thank you for the creativity and story telling.
Can’t love this comment enough. 🙏
Another incredible film, Jeff. And I love me some Wing Taylor cameos.
I love this community. Runners are just the best, I love this.
We’re lucky to be a part of it!
THANK YOU for filming and posting these videos of things I can no longer do because of disability!
Wow well done! I went to West-Canada in 2010 and since then Vancouver had been on my radar to maybe move there one day. It’s so awesome you have this beautiful wilderness literally in your backyard. Canada stole my heart and with this video I know why again. Have a great weekend!
Jeff, you make beautiful videos. This one, in particular, is such an amazing tribute to the beauty that is the North Shore mountains. Thanks for bringing us along!
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed it.
I live in Belgium now but as a BC boy long for the mountains again. Baden Powell I miss so much!
This is great. I will be retiring in a couple of years and thinking/wanting to do an ultra as a way to celebrate. This gives me a good idea at the pace to move at. Beautiful area. Also, you have an amazing comunity and your wife is awesome to support you.
And I will never complain about trails being too technical again! That looks insane!
Some really tasty shots there between the dam and Holyburn chute... That light was so perfect! Congrats on a great run!
Thanks Brice! We got lucky with the weather overall I’d say.
New hiker, learning experiences, and everyone here your suggestion is much appreciated, 😀
Nice vid as always - fun to see myself pop up on screen a couple of times. Fun running with you and Jeff and great work on the run.
Thanks Wing! Always great to run with you as well.
So awesome!
Your videos are the best!!! Thank you!
I love your stuff man, thank you so much! Jeremy
love it,thanks for sharing your videos
Fantastic thanks 😊 👍
Man I miss the north shore. Absolutely stunning.
Amazing to watch, gorgeous trails! Great job!!
That bowl of watermelons is like winning a simple pleasure trophy every 25 km. Another amazing video to run along on my trainer during lockdown. Keep it coming Jeff :)
Great film Jeff! Looks like an epic run.
Nice effort! Thanks for the inspiration 😊
Awesome! As always a pleasure to watch
Thanks Jakob!
Great to see the trail and everyone, and enjoyed the facts about the BP and the origin story of club fat ass!
Amazing. Great to see so many familiar views of the North Shore from when I lived in Vancouver many years ago. Thank you for sharing your story with us, you are an inspiration!
Thanks David!
you always make long distances look easy :) really beautiful scenes too
Another great video. Thanks for sharing the experience with us!
Thanks Greg! And I appreciate your supporting the channel as a member 💪
The nature is breathtaking!
Wonderful trail, beautiful video
Great stuff once again Jeff, awesome production and a strong run!
I am so jealous of the nature you guys surround yourself with, looks almost magical! I've never been to Canada but I've always wanted to visit, have to visit Vancouver once this covid shit is over and run these amazing trails!
Great work, Jeff(s). So nice to see so many familiar faces and places. Love it.
Thanks Kerry!

Epic. Thanks from NZ
Thanks Stefan!
Amazing day out in those beautiful trails. You made it look so easy. Congrats!
Thanks Javier!
great shout out scouts and girl guides
Good job guys...
Wow those trials are utterly stunning! Some parts, like you said about how green everything was, looked like you were in the Amazon 😊
Really cool video Jeff. I miss the Pacific Northwest! Looks like a great day and I especially loved the commentary from Audre (hope I spelled her name right)!
Amazing film! Your soundtracks are always on point.
Thank you! I spend a lot of time on music selection, so I appreciate that feedback. Can’t underestimate the importance of the right soundtrack.
Thanks Jeff! I'm from Brazil, your videos are an inspiration for us!
Thanks Diego, that’s great to hear!
You are the rock star !
👊😁 Great vid.
Paradise :) Excellent video . Thanks Jeff for sharing . Regards from Sifnos island - Greece
Thanks Giorgos. Sifnos looks beautiful 🙌
Would love to visit Canada and hike/run these trails someday.
Beautiful video! Well done.
Regards from Germany.
Danke!
Awesome video Jeff, its nice to see how much you were enjoying the run, congrats for a great finishing time!
Thanks Jakub!
Must have been awesome to have so many nice people around! Loved the video!
Thanks! We’re lucky to have such a supportive trail running community for sure.
You really earned my subscription and likes to your channel. Inspiring and motivational for me. This new year 2023 it's gonna be my biggest goal of life to quit smoking and start hiking this summer. Biggest fan now Jeff and wife ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
amazing jeff
Your Rockwall video inspired me to do the trail this coming July 😀 Love your videos especially the long adventure ones like this! 👋🏻 from Edmonton
Thanks, glad to hear that! You’re going to love it.
Wow, what an amazing trail and video!!!! I still don't know how you capture everything without falling. ;) Great job! **Oops, just saw the fall! Nice camera save!
Way to go Jeff! I always love your content!
I'm also doing the QMT in August, I hope we will have fun there!
Thanks Arnaud! Hope to see you there 😎
So beautiful! Nothing like that here in the UK
Exceptional. Need to get myself back over there as a matter of urgency. Great work, Jeff!
Thanks Liam!
Looks like a great route
Jeff! Flipping heck am I jealous and wanting to buy a plane ticket to Vancouver. Those trails and so close to the city too. They look beautiful. Great video, as always and amazing effort. What a great community you have there. Inspiring stuff.
Thanks Matthew! 🙏 We really are lucky to call this place home.
Awesome! Even the wipeout was cinematic!
😂
Super crazy. But totally awesome. Keep it upp. /David
A friend and I are doing the BP from West to East on June 27th. Looks like key beta will be fresh socks and shoes to put on at the dam after post-holing across Cypress!
That’s a good plan 😉. Have a great time!
pie-oneering... lol.
So rad.
Now I'm considering a vacation to Vancouver....damn it's beautiful down there
It’s a great place to visit, particularly in the summer 😎
This has got me stoked. Doing half of this in mid July. Will be my first 50k! Can confirm that the snow is awful after hollyburn, ran a recon run last weekend and lots of post holing!
Awesome, have a great time! Snow should be mostly melted by then, I’d imagine, given this heat wave we’re having.
Having completed the KneeKnacker, I don't know how you are able to concentrate on running at the same time as getting the shots you need to make a great film! Well done!
To be fair, I did take a pretty big bail there after looking up at the camera 😂
@@JeffPelletier Top marks for a complete roll recovery!
Hi Jeff Nice one👏🏻Jc UK.
🔥🔥🔥
Support team is awesome,hhh
Another fun video, Jeff. Good job on the run too. What do you think of the Go 2? I noticed some footage, but not a lot. I'm undecided on whether to add on to my arsenal! They don't look too robust for the types of races I would vlog.
Thanks Aaron! I’ve been using it a fair bit, but only when I need to be hands-free (Eg. Scrambling on rocks, using my poles, etc). The quality and lack of space leaves something to be desired.
i see you use the salomon sense 4 pro a lot can you make a review plz!
Excellent film and story well told! Question for you… I see your gear used list, but curious which camera you used at the start in the low light? We’re you using a gimbal as well? The low light quality was great!
Thanks Steven! That was shot on the GoPro Hero 9 using the GoPro Labs firmware, with the shutter locked at minimum 1/120 to help with stabilization. I’m on the fence about it though - It leads to pretty constant freezing and crashing which is so frustrating and such a time waster.
@@JeffPelletier Thank you so much for the quick answer! Well it looks quite a lot better than my GoPro hero 8 in low light. It really does look quite good. I also really like the angles you get from the Insta 360 x2!
The 360 is a great addition to my lineup for sure!
Nice! 🤯🤯 I find after about 45 km of running I start getting pretty bad cramps in the legs. What sort of electrolyte do you find is best for these huge distances?
I typically just use salt caps like these: geni.us/QvjAT3
I find them easier to deal with than powders and tablets.
Amazing trial, great vidio now on the bucket list. Dog friendly? Any wildlife risks?
Thanks 👍
Dog friendly, yep. We sometimes run into black bears on the North Shore, but it’s not a problem if you’re in groups and/or making noise around blind corners - they run away.
@@JeffPelletier
Irish couple living in Edmonton so a coyote is about as wild as it gets lol.
Just for the dog is all!
Love the channel man I only found it a few days ago! Me and my race partner were going to try qualify for UTMB short race a few years back! We did the Hardman Ultra Ironman under the impression it was points accessible! Turns out they weren’t lol kinda took the wind out of our sales, they were just looking for numbers! Did the multi day coast to coast and I can’t count how many other races, but life and injuries got in the way 🤷♂️. Economy crash brought us to Canada were we have friend that have been hear for years, decades for some!
Anyway I can’t half ramble on 😂
Myself and the wife are going to get back in the saddle so to speak and see some of this amazing country.
First comment! Well done, Jeff, way to get 'er done.
How about a link to that Robbins & Campbell film on Nolans?
Hey Ben, it was a shorter segment as part of a film on Gary’s Barkley attempt that year, produced by TSN here in Canada. I just checked, and unfortunately it doesn’t appear to be available online anymore.
🦊🦊🦊🦊🦊
3:12 Jeff how do you do that??? Is there a special software for it and is it free?
Do you mean the little elevation profile graph? I created that in Adobe After Effects. Not free software though, unfortunately.
@@JeffPelletier the route animator/tracer
Oh, the animated map. I use Google Earth Studio for the map itself which is a free tool. You can import a GPX track to create the route. But I then animate it and add then location names and pop ups in After Effects.
@@JeffPelletier that’s what I figured. Thought there was an easier way lol. Thanks
Jeff, what's the tracks music list?
Ah, sorry! This music was all licensed from a stock music website some time ago so I’m not sure.
How is the new Suunto 9 peak ?
I haven’t tried it yet myself - I’m still using the Suunto Baro 9.
@@JeffPelletier ah they look so much a like that I got confused. Still I’m very curious what you think about it
I’m interested to try it for sure. The route locking feature is particularly interesting.
Whi-peopl-outdoors-ing is the best. 😊😊😊
I have one goal in my life: moving to Vancouver and be able to trail run on this beautiful places. Whatever it takes🏃♂️🏔
💪
Come to the island. All the beautiful trails 1/4 the cost of living
First comment! Well done, Jeff, way to get 'er done.
Thanks Conner!
