- Something non VR related but I can't help myself. The funnest campaign I have played in an age, as a unapologetic imperial fanboy, this mission was the best thing ever. The end of this video contains end credits which contain crazy spoilers, you've been warned!

The LotR vibes an "ultimate alliance" of Aeldari and Man gathering to fight Abaddon and his Gods would give is really tempting to dream of.
If the Eldar showed up, it wasn’t because of some sort of romantic notions of the past like Tolkiens would’ve wanted. It was because of their own self interests and survival, they’d probably also backstab, kill, soul steal any human to save their dickish asses. Besides any ultimate alliance between Aeldari and Mankind is just,... heresy.

To be fair, if he sent the full fleet at once, captains would've gleefuly engaged in friendly fire due to serving different gods and what would've arrived to Spire's fleet would've been pretty much nothing.
@@caav56 Doubt it. They'd only fight harder against spire to claim glory for themselves and their own god. Killing each other would deprive them all of that honor.
@@caav56 it would work for a while but once the Chaos fleet starts taking up losses they're bound to start shooting each other. Abby could have finished Spire if he called on Perturabo and the Iron Warriors. No way the Macragge's Honour stands a chance against the Iron Blood.

The voice acting in both Gothic Armada games is such a stand out feature, ESPECIALLY Spire. The guy does such an epic job, the delivery of the line "Warmaster Abaddon, you no longer have anywhere left to hide..." is literal Oscar worthy for me, you can hear the gritted teeth and passion in his voice. I'd follow Spire into the Eye of Terror after a speech like that!
I really hope this isn't the last outing for Spire, if GW announced another game and Spire was somehow returning again, I'd buy it just on that.

I wish that this battle would have had more spectacle to it, like 20 Imperial ships vs 30 chaos ships or something just to really make it feel like the final stand of Abaddon the Despoiler before the Imperium reaps its vengeance. Still a cool fight though
Unfortunately, the game engine has a bit of difficulties when so much stuff is on the screen; the cutscene 3'd mission in the game is especially guilty of this

@@user-zz1sk5go5i the chaos fleet has the benefit that the dark mechanicum has nearly endless time too built new ships and restore old ones as time in the warp is of no importants. On the otherside the Chaos Lords keep fleets forthemselves not even the black crusades can unite all of the fleets.
@@user-zz1sk5go5i I'm not too sure, the Imperium is big and the Navy is spread thin, but I think some of the bigger fleets outmatch the chaos fleets.
Among the battleships for this mission there was a Retribution class I brought, her name? Dawn of War II.

Considering that almost all Spire's contributions to the Gothic War WERE actually retconned into canon by GW (he's now considered the right hand of Ravensburg during the ordeal) it will be interesting to see just how much of this game they'll eventually settle on being part of the canon as well.

There are multiple ones it was done because he was such a popular character after the first game and unlike this one where they pushed the envelope by killing Abaddon they were able to integrate him seamlessly... I will be intrigued too on how he fits into the new stuff

The bridge of the "Vengeful Spirit", apparently, was an autonomous ejectable vessel, like the Gammilas cruisers had in the "Space Battleship Yamato". However, it appears it failed to get out of there in time.

This is my headcanon ending. Fuck the Vengeful Spirit and Abaddon. Even as a loyalist he was a poor champion of mankind.
You know, even if Failbaddon the hArmless did truly die, the dark powers would like ressurect him. That being said, managing to actually kill him in a video game with his fleets crushed & routed, his personal flagship dated back to the Horus Heresy little more than a ruin, with Spire calling him a cowardly wreck hiding behind his minions and hearing him scream that he's losing to an Imperial...I never felt anymore satisfied. Like really, I love how with this game and the previous one built up Old Man Spire as one with a real bone to pick with Failbaddon and treated it like he was the universe's answer to eliminating the despoiler.
If he actually died, it's unlikely that the gods would revive him. They'd most likely see him as unworthy, which he is, but I guess they figure they should get as much use out of him as possible.
The thing is, Failbaddon has the favor of all 4 Chaos Gods and nobody is willing to dispute him for title of warmaster of chaos in person. The Chaos Gods want to keep this forever-war in the materium going and Tzeentch especially is the biggest enforcer of this. Thus, they set Failbaddon up for success...while at the same time setting him up for failure. That if any of his schemes gets too much traction, they'll even the odds up. Much like how Eliphas the Inheritor was brought back to life twice, Kharn is killed a few times and brought back by Khorne to continue his indiscriminate rampages, I don't think Abaddon would be any easier to put down permanently.
Like if this game is considered canon, I wouldn't be surprised if they held Spire in the Warp for many centuries as an insurance blanket for Abaddon's next crusade. Thus release him in time for the 13th Black Crusade so he can drive Failbaddon back; after all, the Eye Of Terror isn't going anywhere and it's stain will be a pretty lasting one.

IT would probably just crash or really lag. The detail on the ships IS magnicifent but its just really hard to render. And Also imagine trying to micro more than 10 ships

Abaddon, being the true tactical genius that he is, sends in his battlefleets one at a time to confront Admiral Spire instead of all attacking at once. No wonder it took 13 Black Crusades to destroy Cadia.

In before GW says that Abaddon escaped and everything went according to Abaddon's plan all along, just like every other time and he totes didn't fail every other time that didn't include Cadia exploding

@@the_dropbear4392 of course it's not, I'm clearly joking. There's no way GW would let a licensee kill off the main bad guy of the setting(without setting up a new big bad ahead of time). Especially, when there's a new Abbie model on the way.
It would still be pretty funny if they did though. Like, "Oh yeah, everything that happened in BFG2 is completely canon. Also, the new Abbie model is totally invalid for official tournament play even before it's released!"
Exactly my battle strategy: Lure enemy forces with two Emperor-class BS + 2 MKIII Space Marine C-class + Spire. Then when Failbaddon the Armless comes - full warp-retreat all except Emperors then Guilliman comes to end this. And if something wrong with the Emperors there are 3 more Arc Mechanicus's BS. EZ PZ 2 scull campain.

If only there a scene where the Black Legion is getting a reinforcement fleet but the fleet commander who happens to be Eliphas the Inheritor decides to withdraw the reinforcement fleet back into the Eye of Terror abandoning Abaddon to his fate.
Love the game despite a few shortcomings. The Tyranid campaign was such good fun, watching all the different factions be dicks to each other whilst slowly munching away on system after system... Hilarious. I felt bad for Spire, though. He seemed like the only sensible person in the entire conflict.
Maybe it's just the angle, but the Vengeful Spirit looks notably smaller than Macragge's Honour. They are both Gloriana-class Battleships; would one really be that much bigger than the other?
Yes, the size, shape, armament and usage of every Gloariana-class Battleship is unique. They are all different. The Macragge's Honour is the biggest Gloriana if i remember correctly.

Macragge's Honour is the biggest Gloriana-class at 26km. Others were smaller, most were around 20km.
Iron blood was like 23/24 iirc.

This “Vengeful Spirit” is a Retribution Class Battleship, not a Gloriana Class.
It’s missing about 8km of Hull length

Its a little surreal to see Abbadon die, even if this is noncannon. If this happened in-universe the chaos marines would fracture, and infight to the point of total anarchy, whittling their own numbers to half strength before someone rose millennia later as warmaster, and he'd be a fraction of the warmaster of Abbadon was. Although... the chaos gods might turn abbadon into a demon prince at that point.
That's what everyone forgets, Abaddon's true success is unifying armies that are content with killing one another for common cause. That task would be like getting Iran and Israel to agree to fight together and managing to accomplish anything.
Essentially, Abbadon is the best Orc Warboss ever ;-)

it still felt so satisfying to finally kill this heretic in this mission, however
also the final cutscene was very dissapointing compared to the last game's final cutscene
Yeah we got badasses like traitor primarchs and their captains. Hell, maybe fucking Belakor himself, but they decided to give us some lackey as antagonist.

I think hes an imperial saint. Not like celestine cause she has wings. He is the imperial saint of battleships and void combat. When the imperium needs to fight of fleets of enemies he shall emerge from the warp to save them. When he isnt needed he kinda just disapears in the warp again.
@Azreal Cinder ikr. Its an interesting concept and it makes sense on why spire always gets lost in the warp immediatly after saving the sector.
If only gw would expand on the concept and give us some models from bfga

Not going to lie, from 7:05 onwards it sounds like there's something in the air vents of the command vessels that makes Spire and all aboard his command deck slurred in their tongues.

Okay its completely ridiculous Roboute Guilliman has no lines at all against Abbadon. Seriously wtf this is an epic showdown and those two know each other. Spire is more like Guillimans sidekick, if anything in this clash of titans.
Maybe Guilliman doesn't want to take away Spire's glory the same way some random Space Marine took Ollanius Pius'.
Guilliman was too busy leading the attack against Abaddon's flagship.

Two possible points:
Earlier in the campaign, Guilliman acknowledged this is Spire's domain, not his. He's a tactical genius, but he's a meritocrat and would leave Spire to his specialties. Second, Guilliman is the lord commander, I'm willing to let this slide and assume Guilliman was not actually on board Macragge's Honour, to avoid putting every egg in that basket. Or he was busy.

why was the Vengeful Spirit smaller than an Arc Mechanicus? It says they had to crack a planet in half to store the damn ship in secrecy, as well as the Vengeful spirit being able to broadside the Phalanx. It should be GIGANTIC.

(Cool tactic though, after the first fail in hard trying to fight openly, I used the same. Why wander around? When can you wait things out then take your enemy out with long ranged weaponry? XD)

I had to put it at 1.25 the speed so it didn't sound like anyone was having a stroke
The game was lagging like crazy. BFG2 requires a seriously beefy computer to play smoothly even at minimum graphics settings.

No, that's a malfunction of their command bridge's machine spirits. The entire deck was filled with very, very mildly alcoholic gas. They're drunk enough to ignore and be invincible to daemons but still good enough to do their thing. You know, being brought to this point where... it's like when you have a drink and suddenly can put blue into corner pocket from miles away.
So Failbaddon is dead. CREED can finally show us where is Cadia. Tactical Genius like him couldn't lose the planet... Right.

I'd say usually before the Final Mission, it's best to prepare against Failbaddon and his Dark boys. Like, by now, you should atleast have like a few good ships in Spire's fleet capable of doing damage against Failbaddon's Vengeful Spirit.
That was a pretty awful last battle and ending, i brought like a half broken fleet with roboute, but the game prioritizes putting Spire's fleet instead of roboute, and Abaddon died before Roboute gets subbed in on hard mode. What a joke.

I beat this game on my first playthrough at 136 turns medium and I have to say once you got the flagship of the Ultramarines under your control everything was so much easier. the damn tyranid hive boss was harder than the final battle just cause of the sheer amount of range and fire power the Macragge's Honour brings.
