I can almost imagine him reading the report, thinking about the ten thousand years of struggle the Imperium has had, and then the Necrons just wake up, gather a part of their fleet, and kill him in straight up combat. Something similar to his reaction after hearing that the Tyranids just killed Abaddon?
Can you *imagine* this is how GW kills Abaddon? It would simultaneously be hilariously unsatisfying, but they would earn back so much respect if this is how he goes out. Dies to a previously unheard of Necron Dynasty in straightforward ship warfare in a relatively small-scale battle. He's just dead, no chaos revival or shenanigans. Would be so funny.

Guilliman is already dead by this point of the campaign. Necron campaign kills imperials first IIRC.
