Do you remove the c clip that holds the wall in when you lube your yoyo? Plus I just lubed my nine dragons and it didn't seem to make any difference.
@@juniorgabe9862 In most cases it means there is a problem with the bearing. Sometimes lubing will solve it, sometimes you will need to clean the bearing.

@@yotricks I've been loobing it properly, but it still makes a gritty sound.its been like that since I got the barring
Thank you so much yotricks! I got my lube just now and it worked perfectly! It was smooth and not responsive anymore. It is also quiet! You are awsome!
Great!
Thanks for all the videos - they've been a great source and help during learning. There's one thing I can't recall hearing about from you guys, that caused me a lot of confusion - that is how tight you want to screw a yoyo together. What I found is (suprisingly enough) that it should be more loose than tight. Only then it (One Star from yoyofactory in my case) can sleep as long as it does in your videos. And that's the effect only after I actually learned to throw it straight and also aplied some yoyo lube (thin one, to be precise).
Once again thanks for all your work ;)
We have not discussed tightening yoyos down, that is true. I'll have to consider that next time we redo one of our intro videos. I prefer the language tight but not too tight, but I know what you mean about it being looser than one might expect.
Thanks!
+00 Sneddon We discuss this problem specifically in the video. Did it not answer your questions?
Great vid! I can see how genuine you were when teaching!
Oh and thanks this video was pretty helpful lol.
I had been looking for a similar video or info about how often to lub the bearing for soooo long and I never found any info until now, thanks a lot. As always great video! I have been yoyoing for a very long time and I always watch your videos, thanks a lot!
***** I'm glad it helped. We have a number of other maintenance videos planned as well, so hopefully you will find those to be as insightful :D
+Vincent Chiu You may need to clean the bearing, assuming you are using thin yoyo lube and not something else.
ruclips.net/video/4LQ62wy0qjI/видео.html
yotricks, can you make a video teaching how to remove rust from yoyo bearings ?
Jason Caballero the shaman king was a good read
@Mr.Carrot just play your call of duty and fortnite and why are you here you like games not yoyo
@Mr.Carrot wtf, you came back after 2 years😂
Bruhhh!
@Mr.Carrot gimme money im poor
+awesome stuff Baby oil will make your unresponsive yoyo play responsive.
You should only need to lube your bearing whenever it starts to get louder than usual, or if it starts to feel a little gritty.
+yotricks how often do you guys lube your bearings? I know you lube it whenever it's l ud but what's like a average time (daily, weekly, monthly) that kinda thing
Monthly.
Thanks
+yotricks will singer oil work?
+TheFerret55 You can upgrade the bearing, swap out the response pads and put in a longer bolt to make it unresponsive. We include all these parts in our DV888 unresponsive kit if you want to see what they are.
yoyotricks.com/yoyo-store/yoyofactory/dv888-yoyo-unresponsive-pro-pack/
yotricks everytime i lube my yo yo it seems to just slow it down and when i give
it time to break it in the bearing starts to make a loud noise like i
need to lube it but it still stays unresponsive so do i just leave it
alone until it gets responsive? (i put about half a drop)
The day after Christmas Eve I ordered a Duncan roadrunner form yoyotricks.com I’m in Canada I’m so excited for it to arrive!!!😄
It’s a blue roadrunner pack !!
Too late for my bearing. :(
Wish I had seen this video earlier. Going to have to order a new one.
is it necessary to remove the bearing shield when lubing?
The bearing we lube in this video has the shield on it.
Thanks! Just got the sage Yoyo today in the mail in the starter pack, and was kind of wondering how the lube worked
+Guillermo Aznar Are you using the Paper Cleaning method when you clean the bearing? If so you may not be waiting long enough to lube the bearing, or you may be over lubing the bearing.
yotricks i was wondering after a while using my yoyo the inside circle of my bearing and the bolt start to make black residue? and when i unscrew my yoyo it gets on the string and turns it all black any tips?
Which bearing is doing that?
a duncan konkave
That bearing may have come lubed with a black lube that is coming out of the yoyo as you play.
weird? i soaked it in lighter fluid shouldn't that take it off?
Can i use either the yyf performance oil[long spin] or the one V4M bearing lube for an unresponsive yoyo Eg.Replay pro...
Yes and yes, just make sure not to over lube because those do not break in the way that our lube does.
@@yotricks I've overlubed my bearing with Yoyofactory thin lube and so it isn't spinning as much as before, what can I do to fix it?
@@pdp6839 clean it
+yoyotricks I got a sage for my birthday and didn't lube it after I got it for about a week so when I watched this video I put some lube on it. I put the same amount you said to put on it but now it's playing responsive I'm trying to learn finger grinds but it keeps coming back up. so I Waited a while, now it's been a week and it's still playing responsive. plz, help this is so frustrating.
Dose yoyo tricks still responed if the video is old
If the yoyo is not playing unresponsive after lube then you need to throw it very hard and do pinwheels quickly, that will break in the lube. If that does not work you may need to clean the bearing.
thanks so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yotricks when I did that it just stoped spinning and when I threw it again it only spun for 30 sec until it stopped
(I'm using the replay pro)
YoTricks thx
+yotricks thanks! i bought my lube and yoyofactory tool and lubricated my first bearing today on my N5 Despardo, its spinning like new! :D
+Juventino Perez Awesome.
thanks for the helpful vid yoyotricks, is it better to take off the shield n C clip n apply the lube directly to the bearing? only asking as my friend does this, thanks...
Lubing oils are very costly in India 😢
My magic yoyo just usually comes up while I'm playing, does it mean i need to lube it
Yes, but if you cannot get lube, try changing the string. If that does not work, I suggest you try cleaning the bearing.
True..
😢
Yeha
I over lubed my velocity yoyo and now it's playing responsive when i set it to pro. What should I do to fix that?
You should probably try cleaning your bearing.
ruclips.net/video/4LQ62wy0qjI/видео.html
ok thanks! I will try that.
@@yotricks life saver
Thank you for answering
THANK YOU FOR LUBE AND THIS TUT
I ordered a sage and a dv888 on Wednesday. When will it come
Kenny Kim Most likely it will come between Monday and Wednesday.
Kenny Kim wow 2yrs ago
Kenny Kim we need to know if u got it yet?
Nelson Rateau *It's been 3 years now, I'm still waiting for for the postman to come but I'm starting to lose hope...*
4 years still waiting
i lubed 2 times does that mean it going to take longer
+W2S It sounds like you over lubed the bearing, which will make it play responsive. As we say in the video, if you play with the yoyo it will thin out. It does not take long if you throw the yoyo with a lot of power. I suggest you throw the yoyo hard and do all the side mount tricks you know while it is spinning. Pretty quickly it should become unresponsive again, unless something else is wrong with the bearing.
thanks for the tutorial!!!
thanks again for the help
My yoyo has started to whir a bit, and I don't want to damage the bearing, but don't really want to wait a week for some lube to come in. I'll likely buy some lube with my next purchase, but in the meantime, will mineral oil be a good substitute?
thnx very informative
hey I have a fidget spinner with a yo-yo bearing can I use the thin lube that you just used .
I'm using the YoYoFactory Performance Oil. When I did all the steps, the yoyo spun just like before; making the same pitched sound and only slightly longer spin time. My yoyo was starting to run dry, so I put a drop in on both sides.
+Niko Sokolowicz Mineral oil will almost certainly make your yoyo play responsive. Unfortunately, there is no easy alternative for thin lube, which is why yoyo companies needed to make it in the first place.
how about wd-40?
Just a question: Why did you use plastic yoyos before (the Luminator) when you were that good?
Hey yotricks I know this isn't really relevant to the video, but I figured since it is a new one I would get feedback lol. How offer If at all do you guys compete? I specifically want to see Adam because I haven't seen a video of him doing a freestyle or anything. I just thought it would be kind of cool to see what you guys can do.
Do center track c bearings have shields- if they do do i need to take it off before applying lube?
Finally.I've been waiting for 1 years after this month I will buy a thin lube.....😀
CnC Productions It sounds like you may have gotten a bad bearing with that Shutter. This does not happen all that often, but it does happen on occasion. Do you still have the bearing from your old Shutter?
No
CnC Productions OK, if your yoyo is still new you should be able to contact the company where you got the Shutter and get a new bearing.
I got it from you guys
OK. Contact us through the contact page on our website and send us your order number and we should be able to help you out no problem.
ok
Hi yoyo tricks um I got an unresponsive T5 overlord and the first day it was great it sounded smooth and then the next day when I got home it made a pitched sound and kept making that sound then started to play responsive instead of unresponsive. Now I saw one of your videos and it said when it makes that sound you either have to switch the bearing or clean the bearing with lube. Would the lube for hair clippers work?
Nic Heredia I am not sure that we ever said you should switch the bearing, or clean it with lube. Also, lube for hair clippers will almost certainly not work. As soon as a bearing starts to make noise we recommend lubing it with thin yoyo lube, the way we show in the video. If you have tried lubing the bearing with lube, or cleaning it in something like lighter fluid, and it will still not work, then the bearing may need to be replaced.
thanks for your lube video. that helped me a lot. actually i am thinking that, when you guys will make a video on types of bearing? And also types of pads?
now i subscribed to your channel.
nayeer ahnaf Thanks. We'll talk about the bearing idea. I think it is a good thought.
Hey yotricks, it is very unpractical for me to buy from your store due to the shipping costs to where I live... So would you say that YYF thin lube would be as good as the Yotricks lube? Any other good lube recommendations?
If you are going to go with another lube we would recommend YYF lube.
just bought a ceramic center trac bearing from you guys and was wondering if I should lube it. thank you
Yes.
+yotricks thanks again, I love your videos
Just a question: I've been wanting to upgrade my Protostar to a KonKave bearing. Do I just pop that in and I'm done, or is there more to it?
youkurrect Nope, that it.
I want to ask something.
I heard many Lube method where you have to remove the bearing shield and C-lock thingy.
Does the removal really necessary or does it make any different from lubing without the shield removed?
TNP's Channal It is not at all necessary to remove the shield.
Can i also use bones speed cream for lubing my bearings?
Can another lubricant such as 3 in 1 oil work as good as the thin lube? I'm curious for the sake of my Yo-Yo.
Ok thanks for helping me out
I just tried and cubing lube works well too
It seems cubing lube is quite a bit thicker than yoyo lube, but if you use a small enough amount it may work fine.
Hi yotricks could you make a video on shielding bearings?
You really don't need to put a shield on a bearing once it is taken off.
Thank you so much for helping me un response my yoyo
Yeah I'm going to buy some lube bc my bearing has been loud for about a month now so this will come on handy
How well does gun oil work, I found some old bottle of gun oil labeled Weapons oil medium. also might have some other gun oils laying around but I just want to make sure.
+Andrew Scott Gun oil will make your yoyo play responsive, so we would not recommend it.
Do you guys recommend re-siliconing the yoyo ?
I got my flight yo-yo a couple of days ago, I started out just round 1A and moved to 4A yesterday, I had been practicing for the whole day in short bursts, and I found that my yo-yo was incredibly loud and gritty sounding, I lubed it using the way you showed, afterwards I attached my yo-yo to a new string and it sounded the same and played incredibly responsively, played for 5-6 minutes and noticed something, when the string isn’t touching anything but the bearing, like not touching the walls, it was completely silent! Do you know what’s happening / how to fix it?
Forgot to mention my hearing has shields, if that helps, also when it goes silent the spin decreases dramatically
(My god I use a lot of commas)
Try cleaning the bearing in a solvent like acetone or lighter fluid. Let it dry, put it together and see if it's still the same. Then maybe try relubing with a small amount, really don't need much as too much will gunk up the insides.
If you have a one-drop side effects yoyo like the Cascade/Gradient, should you use this on the side effects area too, or is there a different product for that
+some real saucy, creamy, crispy, moist flakes of perfectly aged tortilla chips The Side Affects area should not need lubricant.
my first unresponsive yoyo was a yomega prospeed and i also got a magic yoyo n8 at the same time. I played them for about 2 months and then they became responsive. I then learned a little bit about cleaning and lubing them. i tried cleaning them and they still played responsive, i then tried lubing them and they still play responsive. i ordered some new bearings and also got 4 new yoyos. one of them being the edge. i just got the edge and 3 other yoyos about 3 days ago. should i lub the bearings now? i have a lot of money invested and want to prolong the bearings. thanks in advance
Hi, I purchased the 'Sage Pro Pack' and I was wondering, can you use thin lube on a responsive bearing? Can you just add extra, or the same amount?
I plan on going unresponsive soon after, so I can just use it dry but was wondering.
Penta Gram Thin lube will make a responsive bearing less responsive, so we do not recommend it. It is okay to play with slim bearings dry, especially if you are planning to upgrade to unresponsive soon.
yotricks thank you
I got my first Shutter yesterday, played "dry" for a while and then put thin lube (from Yoyofactory) in like in the video. One drop each side, maybe one of the drops was a little big :) Before I did that, when I gave the bearing a little spin, it moved like 6-7 seconds, and now it moves like 2 seconds. Also, the yoyo got slightly responsive, sometimes when I try grinds it "comes back up". I already tried doing fast pinwheels and strong throws. Do I have to clean my bearing or just wait a few days?
You most likely lubed the bearing too much. You will need to clean the bearing and lube it again, we only recommend using one small drop of lube for the bearing.
yoyotricks.com/yoyo-videos/how-to-clean-a-yoyo-bearing-paper-cleaning-method/29995/
Thank you :)
Thankyou!
I just ordered a velocity and it’s my first time trying to get into serious yoyo playing, so I’m practicing in easy mode for responsive play for a while. The starter pack came with thin lube and the yoyo is starting to make a bit of noise after just one day, will the thin lube compromise the responsive mode on the velocity at all?
Thin lube does not make a yoyo play less responsive, it just protects the bearing. The reason we include this with the Velocity is because it allows the yoyo to play unresponsive in Pro Mode, but in the Easy Mode it will still be responsive enough.
Hey Adam, when i lube the yoyo like you show, I put the bearing back on the yoyo, and I spin the bearing. It will spin for a second or two, and then stop. Is that bad? Or do I need to give the lube some time to kick in?
Kavyan Mirsalehi That is normal. Play with the yoyo a while and it will break in.
I use the Yomega Xodus II, and it has two bearings, what should i do? Btw, there is one big bearing (regular), and then the second bearing is split into two smaller bearings. Sorry if to complicated?
I found that if you over lube a bearing, that if you play it for 5-10min then take then bearing out to drain. Due to the heat inside the bearing thins the oil. Repeat a few times over because the bearing is cased in the yoyo housing not alowing oil to escape.
Two more questions, do you use thin lube for 4a yo-yos, and when do you lube them? (The reason I am asking is because I have a skyhawk from a while ago and don’t know when or with what to lube it with)
And for the Sage yo-yo, on your site it recommends to use thin lube, although it is responsive. Is that recommendation for the vip bearing?
Thin lube is for 4A yoyos. I lube them when the bearing starts to make more noise than usual.
For the Sage it is designed to only need thin lube for both bearings.
Thank you! And thanks for responding to comments :D
Can you guys make a video on the different types of bearings?
yang576 That's a good idea. We'll have to see if we can come up with enough interesting things to say about each ;)
What should I do if my unresponsive yoyo (Winter solstice) is starting to respond when being pulled up? I've only had it for a week or 2 and I can't get my grinds going because whenever I pull it up to my hand to grind, the string just begins to wind up the yoyo/snag without me doing a bind. This only starting happening about 5 days ago and It's really frustrating and I've tried switching strings and cleaning/lubing my bearing but it just made it worse. It's too responsive is my point. I've been playing with it responsively practicing my other tricks for several days now and it's still too responsive. All the videos I could find talk about a yoyo not responding well enough but I can't seem to figure out how to stop it from snagging/responding. HELP!
what lude do i need to use for a [yo]²' triple action?
If i have a responsive yoyo (Duncan butterfly xt) can i use almost any lube? i have some bike lube at my house, or even baby oil?
Also, my duncan butterfly isn´t opened yet, does it come pre-lubed? or i should lube it after the first use?
+Omega Arxom It should come pre lubed, and you can experiment with all those lubes to find out what works best.
Hi! I just received my Yoyo Factory Velocity and the bearing doesn't spin from the spacers. My friend and I bought thick Yoyo lube because he bought a Sage. Should I lube it with thick Yoyo lube for now? I just got it 12 hours ago. please help me, I want to use the Yoyo again.
So my grandma ordered a YoYoFactory GODSPEED for me and she's coming and giving me it on June 29. I have thin lube in my house but will the bearing live long enough for me to put thin lube in it before it needs to be replaced?
I got a new difeo konkave stainless steel bearing today, it wasn't playing very smooth and was gritty so I put 3 drops of yotricks thin lube in it and played with it for about an hour but it's still playing gritty and just not smooth. Is the paper cleaning method needed?
EDIT: i forgot to say that the bearing spins fine and can spin on a pen for about 20seconds im just curious why it sounds like the way it does
We recommend you clean the bearing and then lube it.
ruclips.net/video/4LQ62wy0qjI/видео.html
I can't afford the thin lube, so I clean the bearing with paper time to time. Will this work? And can I use a thick lube instead and then clean the bearing afterwards , if needed ?
Hello yotricks, does it matter what side you lube it
How long for yoyo lube to work in and settle so that the bearing spins a long time again? I lubed my bearing with super lube hobby lube that you guys used to sell and my bearing is slightly slower but doesn rattle as much
If your yoyo is supposed to play unresponsive, that lube will not allow your yoyo to play unresponsive. You will probably need to clean the bearing for your yoyo to work properly again. If you have a responsive yoyo then everything should be fine.
Is this a new version of the previous lube or is it just a new cap on the bottles?
Because if it's a new version I hope that get that one with my order last Wednesday. :D
Oliver Bergqvist It is the same lube in a new bottle. All our lube now ships in these bottles. (I have not yet taken new pictures on the website of the lube.)
have a somekind of mix to male a good/normal thin lube?
My bearing has a shield protector on it... do i take the protectors off and if so do i have to put them back on?
Really my yoyo is new and I never lubed it and it is still pretty good
can you upload a video with an audio of the 'crunchy' noise that indicates that you need to lube the yoyo?also if we lube the yoyo at the right times,do we ever need to use lighter fluid and clean the bearing?

i just got my new summer solstice yoyo and its coming back to my hand when i do the dna
I got my second YYF shutter and am very please with it. I watched tihs video right before using it and did exactly what you said, now it is three days laterr and my bearing is still crazy loud PLEASEE HELP
It also spins for 5 or 10 Seconds
I used the yotricks thin lube and it worked for about 10 minutes and then started to play responsive. Should I put more lube on or keep using it and hope it thins out?
It sounds like you put too much lube on the bearing. You should keep playing with it until the lube breaks in.
What else lube would you recommend except for the thin lube ? Bcoz i live in a place where yoyofactory thin lube is not available !
So far we have not found a lube alternative we are happy with. Instead you may want to get used to cleaning your bearing when it starts to have problems.

So, i was playing with a new yoyo i got today and after about 2 hours playing with it, it began to feel gritty and made a loud sound, i lubed it just now and played with it for a couple minutes but the sound is about the same. Is there something up with it?
*And can we just appreciate how YoTricks is still responding to comments to this day*
Most of the time that means that you didn't put in quite enough lube... or that a big chunk of something got into the bearing. I would try adding a tiny bit more lube to see if that helps. If not, you may need to clean the bearing.
YoTricks okay, thanks! I’ll try that out
Can i use zeeko lighter fliud to clean my magic yoyo n8 which is unresponsive
I got my sage pro today and it came with your thin lube, will it be okay to not use any lube until I'm ready to switch to the unresponsive bearing it came with?
Yes, in fact we would recommend that.
My dad recently bought me a Rextreme yoyo for Christmas and it was working fine but all of a sudden the yoyo wasn't screwing apart and we heard a rattling sound in the yoyo. Is there some kind of warranty for the yoyo?
Derpollous Squid We have a 30 day policy, but we are flexible with that in some cases. If you got it from us send us a message through the contact page on the website with your order number, if you have it, and we will look into it.
Hi, folks! I got a Yoyo Factory Velocity recently, but I didn't buy any lube with it. I've been trying not to play with it too much because it's getting rather gritty, but I'm SUPER eager to keep practicing! The yoyo is now vibrating, and I fear for the state of my bearing. If I lube the bearing before I play with it next, should I be okay? Hope to hear from you soon!
yes
I think you should clean the bearing first I f you don't have lube that's what I did now it's working very properly (,sorry for late reply)hope this helps!
Also what bearing or size will I need to get to replace the one I have? Does it matter at all? Its a Yoyo king spin control
SwampFoot4x4 The size of the bearing does matter, but I have never used that yoyo, so I am not sure what size it takes.
How many day after we have to look Replay pro yo-yo ? How many days?
I have a shutter from yoyo factory and I always use it even at school because they let me, I need help to know when I could lube the stock bearing it came with and I use it to the max, but I got it from yo tricks and use the yo tricks thin lube pls reply
Aliz Leyva I only lube my bearings when they start to sound louder or different than usual. As long as the sound of your bearing is consistent, and it is playing fine, you will not need to lube it.
I don't have lube and if I buy it online its going to come in a week do you the size a bearing is to last that long without being lubricated?
As long as your yoyo continue to make the same amount of noise you should be fine.
I just got a yoyo king spin control yesterday and I've been nonstop with it. First time I ever threw the cash up for a real yoyo, I didn't know anything about lubing the bearing, I've now mastered several tricks I learned on here and now my yoyo is screaming when I throw it. A good 36 hours later at the most lol... Thanks for the info, guess I'll have to wait to play anymore til I get some thin lube... Is there anything else I can use in place of it for the mean time. I'm already having trouble leaving it alone.
SwampFoot4x4 Unfortunately, we have not yet found anything that will work in the place of thin lube. Most of the time if you use some alternative it will make your yoyo play responsive, and you will need to clean the bearing to make it play properly again.
I haven't played with my yoyo for around a year now it extremely wobbly and it spins for max around a minute. So my question is will cleaning the bearing then lubing it properly will ensure that the bearing comes back to life. Btw I have a shutter. (Sorry if my english is not great)
And my second question is there a way I can substitute something with lube because it's impossible to find lube in my area.
So I'm wanting the sage pro pack for Christmas but it comes with thin lube. Can you use thin lube on the responsive bearing of the sage or will it effect it negatively?
Aaron Morgan no buy som thik lube if you want to lube the bearing but first play it for a while
Aaron Morgan The Sage is is an unresponsive yoyo.
I put about a drop of lube in total form the yoyofactory lube bottle and the bearing seemed to have decreased spin times, will this go away in soon? Or should I do something
If it bothers you then clean the bearing. Otherwise as you play with it your spin time will gradually return. I am not sure how quickly. It depends on how hard you throw and how often you yoyo. The harder the throw the faster your spin times will return.
How thick is Yoyo Factory Lube compared to your Thin Lube? I recently had some come with a yoyo and after applying my yoy started playing responsive. And after an hour of play they are still a bit responsive. I'm having my Shutter respond due to it while doing grinds.
Their thick lube is 3-4 times thick than ours. You may need to clean the bearing to get it to play unresponsive again.
