If Eko had survived, he might've helped prevent Locke's own sad fate. They were certainly on similar paths.
Dunno if it would have been a little on the nose but Adewale playing the MIB and changing his accent for it would have been so good! He was a good goodie but he would have made a legendary villain.
I was so disappointed when Eko died... I really liked his character. I didn't know they killed him because the actor wanted to leave the show. Why would he want to leave? It was a great show!

TheEpic22 Sometimes personal matters are more important than one's career or they're just too distracting to keep maintaining the same level of acting.
I definitely thought that his character was one of the better parts of the show.
His parents died, he hated living in Hawaii, he also got a DUI over there... it was too much happening at once.

How can you not like Mr. Eko? He was on the same badass level as Locke, both men of faith and both in touch with the Island. The 23rd Psalm was was one of my personal favorite episodes and is probably top 3 character centric episodes next to Walkabout and The Long Con.

That would have been the end-game. Like when MIB tried to manipulate Richard, using his faith, in order to get him to kill Jacob (ref. 'Ab Aeterno'), he tried to manipulate Eko, using his faith, and shape him into killing Jacob.
When the monster executes his plan with Eko in 'The Cost of Living', only to discover that Eko wants to live with his sins rather than redeem them (and therefore can't be manipulated as such), MIB kills him out of frustration.
Unbelievable that he was written off by choice! I found his story line to b interesting, and different from everyone else on LOST, and would have liked to know more about him...his character was so strange, and brutish, yet gentle, allowing Ana-Lucia to lead the tailies till the very end, when he tossed Sawyer over his shoulder(which is crazy, since Sawyer is one big hunk of man!), and heads to camp...
By choice do you mean the actors choice to leave the show? forcing the writers to kill his story

His parents died at the time he was shooting, plus a couple things more, so he decided to come back an be centered in his personal life

He was also have family troubles at the time, give the guy a break, more important things in life then a tv show
The smoke Monster manipulate Eko and Locke. The smoke thing appeared as Yemi to Eko to manipulate him. And finally in Season 3 Episode 5 Eko regocnize that this was not his brother. He said to him who are you. But it was too late.
That's why smokey finished him. Now it makes much more sense!

But why did the Smoke Monster waited so long until starting killing the candidates. I mean we see him attacking survivors in the first seasons. What was the reason for that? I mean most times they survived that, but why did he attacked randomly. And why did he helped sometimes, for Example Jack to find water. And then he attacked them, for Example Kate and Juliet. I mean at the end (Season 6) he had exactly plans and before that, at that time we didn't know him, he did things so randomly, like he had no plan.
Pascal Singer I feel like his attacks were more so scare tactics. Although idk. Maybe he wanted to dispose of everyone that couldn’t have helped him so his attacks were really to single some people out, and maybe he helped jack because he needed jack in his final plan, etc. We’ll never know
He didn't manipulate anyone. Maybe eko, I'm not going to have any opinions on that because I don't care. But not Locke. While it's true it wasn't his brother, he only appeared to locke as his brother only once. That's all.
I can definitely seeing Eko playing a major role in the ending.
Especially considering how close to religious the show had become.

If he wouldn't been killed off and would have stayed on the show to the end, i think Mr Echo would have made a great Jacob instead of Hugo. Tho Hugo was great.
I think Eko could have taken Lockes storyline towards the end with him being the man in black
Imagine if Eko stayed, if Ilana's actress played Ana Lucia instead, & if Walt didn't age as quick as he did.
I never understood why Walt didn't come back. Yeah, the actor grew up but they had a 3 years time jump. They could bring him back. And they did but just for few cameos.

I read that both his parents died, prompting his desire to return home to England. If true, that makes his decision a little more understandable.
I can't watch any of these without constantly opening up more RUclips tabs and rewatching all the scenes they keep bringing up.

his mother and father died while they were filming so he went home to spend time with his family and he had to be killed off
He also hated Hawaii 😂😂 and that's where the show was being filmed. I dont blame him, he was there for way longer than most people who go to vacation, it looked hot and humid all the time and he grew up in London where it's almost the opposite of that
I liked Echo. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a very good actor, he plays the Ultimate bad ass and the ultimate good guy. He was great as Simon Adebisi

The actor that played Ecko, if you noticed, he was in alot of movies right around the time he left the show and now he's been very busy so I'm guessing it was about getting better work, receiving movie scripts and more money.....also alot of actors don't want the daily 12-14 hour day tv schedule.

So I just watched Season Ep 5. they killed of my favourite character.

Mr Eko was the best character never liked the show as much after he left
I was pissed that Eko had to die. I think Lost would have been better if that character went a bit longer into the series.
I read that he didn't like living in Hawaii so that's why he left the show

Little revelations like that are neat.
Kind of like with "Christian" leading Jack off of a cliff in 'White Rabbit', you can parallel that with "Dave" (linked with Libby's deceased husband Dave, and Hurley's ability to see the dead, his experiences in the mental hospital, etc) trying to convince Hurley to jump off of a cliff in 'Dave'.
A lot of these are only discovered while rewatching the series, after having seen season 6.
I loved Eko. So sad when he died. Sorry he didn't want to stay.

What happened to Eko ? Well the actor that played him wanted out, so the producers had to kill him off so they chose the black smoke monster to do it. And it was a pretty cool episode. Totally unexpected.

As strange as this sounds Hawaii,one of the most beautiful places in the world to live.Many actors,male,female,felt isolated,they never got to go home.Be with family,were they grew up as a child,you would be surprised how many actors still have homes in there original berth place

The way the writers killed his character off in the show, I didn't get. A big black smokey cloud tossing him around? Maybe I'll get it later, I'm still watching LOST. Excellent acting on his part.
I think with a character like Eko it might be better to recast instead of changing your plans. Of course it's hard to do but if done right, fans will accept it. In a best case scenario the fandom celebrates both actors.

You shouldn't have taken out your frustrations about Adewale leaving on Eko. His death was unjustifiably brutal. We have to go back, JJ, to reshoot Eko's exit if nothing else. 😁✊
What, why the monster killed Eko? Just parallel what happened with Richard in 'Ab Aeterno' with what happend with Eko in 'The 32rd Psalm' and 'The Cost of Living'.

I was pissed when Eko died. They gave us his backstory and did the whole episode as a flashback for him and then killed him at the end. What's the point?
Maybe that even tho MIB / smokey took him, he was still able to join his brother as he had repented. The fake brother/smokey wanted him gone. He realized what was what.
Smokey tried to recruit him, he refused and got killed for it. Eko wasn’t a candidate. Smokey succeeded with Locke, this is why Eko told Locke, your next.

What happened with Harold they kind of wanted to keep on the down low. Harold basically accused the creators of being racist and because of that they decided to not include him in the show anymore.

I'm really happy Lost was made before the woke-era. It's story driven entertainment that is not putting agendas and political messages first. That being said it also does a way better job in the diversity department without pushing it into our faces. It's all organic.

@@terry- no, it isn't hard to understand. Was it hard for you? I watched this show RELIGIOUSLY. I watched the Missing Pieces and Orchid station video and the weird video about Hanso...I started noticing the writers were changing their minds in season 5 but I stuck with it. I figured out the purgatory/sideways reality when Locke said "you never had a son". It all clicked, for a second I asked myself if this was clever? It would have been if it were a different show. It serves no purpose on Lost other than something to "flash" to and give fans a "greatest hits" of their old fav characters saying sorry to each other. But it wasn't even the worst aspect of season 6...that would be literally everything else. What a waste.
@@JJSMJ maybe you should of wrote and send them a better seasson 5 and 6. they had to wrap up after the writers strikes and set a final. had to tell everything more or less they wanted. this is what the series was about since episode 1, maybe you should of stopped watched there, and your life would not be ruined.

The writers strike was season 4 and that was one of the best seasons.

@@tommyortiz6114 Yeah I don't get that either. Word is from another interview with Damon, Desmond's entire character arc with Charlie and seeing the future was going to be Eko's arc. It would have been fascinating because everything that happened with Desmond would have happened with Eko but with his story and in more of a spiritual way.
