I have never left a RUclips comment in my entire my life but my dude I have been watching your videos forever and have spent countless hours trying to mimic your magic fingers. AMAZING guitar covers and even more incredible song choice (homme, Fugazi, sonic youth, dinosaur jr... And on and on) And then you went and covered this fucking JAM like a week after it's released like what the fuck you are TOO. MUCH. A++ teach me stuff.
I don't know how to explain how being able to watch you play these songs so well.....has made me appreciate so much more of Josh......I love you man. May the sun shine on your face.
@@regislourenso yes. He has countless masterpieces (SFTD, Rated R, …Like Clockwork) behind his belt in my opinion. Not just with Queens (Them Crooked Vultures, Kyuss, Post Pop Depression).
@@regislourenso oh absolutely genius! When you consider the massive catalog of fantastic music, combined with the interesting and unique guitar work, along with his love of really oddball tunings with the ability to recreate it all live over and over. Genius gets thrown around way too much nowadays, but yeah, it applies here. 🤘🏻
Thank you for this! My favorite qotsa song and as a guitarist, I was having troubles "getting it down" to my satisfaction until I saw this. Now I can play it like a fucking rockstar. Now, if only I could WRITE a masterpiece like this.... Guess that's why Josh makes the big bucks, lol. Thanks again, and great job
Jefferson Gonçalves Monsters live is played in E and they just play it a step down. I know this as one of their recent set lists showed that an E guitar was used.
More fantastic playing from my favorite play-along channel. You've introduced me to so much new music, as well. Many thanks. A request: could you please do 'I Of The Mourning' by The Smashing Pumpkins? I've never found a good guitar cover on RUclips. Pumpkins fans (and us fans of yours) are in desperate need of one.
Dude it'd be so cool if you could do Villains of circumstance, I'm having a hard time figuring out the clean guitars on the hook. Just so you know, you're awesome.
Great cover. I can imagine it be pretty hard to get that tone down perfectly on the main riff though. What pedal do you think he uses? I think he might use the cock fight by electro harmonix. Sounds like he uses it for the way you use to do
I hear an Octaver in parts, but in my book, the real cool thing is on this he uses a 9 string guitar. I’ve never even heard of one before but the three high strings are doubled like a 12 string. Strikes me as a really interesting idea, and now I want one!🤘🏻
K-Next yes very much, all the time. A touch more distortion and just being louder helps a lot. Live versions sound this good too, especially the Maida Vale version.
On his video for Avon he said "Custom build. Toronado shaped with JM style pickguard. 24,75"." It has a good shot of the headstock, too. ruclips.net/video/LjJnHucKSYw/видео.html
I'd give Jesper's advice a try. It can be helpful to train your ear in the long run, as tabs may not always be available for certain songs, and it'll especially help when (or if) you choose to jam with people because once your at least able to figure out the key/root note then it's just a matter of getting familiar with a few scales and then hopefully it'll click down the line that most riffs and chord progressions just are notes that usually fall into familiar positions/shapes that you'll get better at picking out faster and faster the more you practice. I don't know if that makes sense. If you can watch the video a few times you'll start seeing and picking up that most of the action is taking place down between the 2nd and 4th frets, and the main riff is just playing the octave. I think you can get this one!

Thanks. Good ear, not magic fingers.
A good ear definitely helps learning a song without having the Tab.
The more you do it the easier it will get. 🤘🏻👍🏻
Dude actually did the whole intro thing I'm impressed
Easily my favorite guitar guy on RUclips. You cover like all of my absolute favorite bands and you use my favorite guitars!
MrMarilynFallOutBoyMansonFan what videos exactly?
lol sounds like something Josh Homme would do
I never realized how different Josh and Troy's parts were until I watched this. Spot on cover! 🔥
Troy is an amazing rythm guitar
An absolute beauty of a QOTSA song. That’s true hard rock right there and in my opinion you played it so well.
I don't know how to explain how being able to watch you play these songs so well.....has made me appreciate so much more of Josh......I love you man.
May the sun shine on your face.
Josh is a genius composer!
I'm not saying it's bad but... c'mon, genius?

It would be awesome to just be able to write just one monster song like this!
Homme seems to write genius songs for fun.😮🤘🏻
Head like a haunted house, pls!
Agreed, haha.
Yes! Thank you dude! I love this song and this cover was phenomenal!
Needs more guitars 6 Hommies out of 10 humbuckers
Good to have you back!
D standard? The newest Qotsa tunning. The same for The Way You Used To Do
Exactly! They were never used D tuning, that's why I wanted to see live videos first.
When they play it, The Sky Is Fallin' is played in D live. Sounds like Eb on the record though, might be pitch shifted.
Haven't tried that song.
Sky is Fallin is Eb originally. They changed The tunning of some songs live like Monsters, First it Giveth
Jefferson Gonçalves Monsters live is played in E and they just play it a step down. I know this as one of their recent set lists showed that an E guitar was used.
Amazing man! Bravo! Nice cover to watch! Well done mate!
Nailed the tone!
So few covers of this awesome 1st track!
This is a great one!!
this guy is the man...dope covers love your videos man ..
Man. I love how you play qotsa tracks. Awesome
Excellent cover! You nailed it dude!!!
Dude, you are a warrior. Kudos man, I don't what else to say.
Best song on the album, and you nailed it.
There’s a whole lot of treasure in this album,
But yeah, this one is way up there!🤘🏻
Absolutely superb playing sir.
dudde, mind blown ! you sir are talented!
IM IN LOVE
THIS IS SO GOOD THANK YOU
Bro you are so good ! Congratulations you just earned a new subscriber !
Incredible! Great job!👍🏻
Glad to see you back :)
Goddamn that was bangin'. A bangin' performance of a bangin' riff!
Spot on! You always do a great job man
Just a question, what scale is used during the little licks through the build up and what scales are primarly used in QOTSA songs?
Parkie355 for most scales Josh uses his own which is a demented blues scale
ruclips.net/video/AJDUHq2mJx0/видео.html
Here's an interview Josh did a couple years ago where he goes over his playing style. It might help.
Josh primarily uses a Lydian Dominant #2 scale, also known as the Hungarian Major scale
He is trained in polka
This is awesome man. Keep it up!
This is a reallly good cover man :D. I need to learn this!
top work, im rockin double fender as well

Subscribed 2 minutes into main riff!
why im crying???!! cause is awesome :( :(
Nailed it
Awesome playing !
you really should make it so we can Like these videos, because I can almost guarantee that nobody will be disliking this.
Dude it'd be so cool if you could do Villains of circumstance, I'm having a hard time figuring out the clean guitars on the hook. Just so you know, you're awesome.
Might not be correct, but I just play what Josh played live acoustic. listen/watch those vids, might help
On the album version I think it's a bass that plays that part... I played it on both guitar and bass and the bass sounds closer xD
Expertly done!
Beast of a song! Nice job dude 👍
You're quality man. Subbed 👍🏻
Excellent job! This sounds like Them Crooked Vultures all the way
That was dope! Want to learn this so badly!
Sounds great man!
Better sound that the album! Amazing

God this is excellent.
Great video, as always. The next one should be be Un-reborn Again!!!
That's enough now with qotsa.
slackerVK somebody should tell that to Josh Homme
Nah... I don't get all the hate about Villains.
slackerVK people fear, what they do not understand unfortunately, rather than, try to understand it
Raoul Duke True man, it's a sad.
this cover has better electric guitar sound than on the album
seriously, makes the whole track feel WWAAAAY more powerful than the album.
K-Next yes very much, all the time. A touch more distortion and just being louder helps a lot. Live versions sound this good too, especially the Maida Vale version.
+HRacingGreen Yeah, I really love this album but sometimes the guitars just sound too weak. Shame I can't see them live.
what
Awesome work!
Always top work
Amazing !! QOTSA 🔥🔥🔥
Good work Slacker
Just great! Would you like to cover Fortress? Would sound killer!
Nailed it! Just one comment, the bridge after the solo should be all upstrokes.
Well, you can play it upstroke, I tried, but why? If you watch live videos you'll be surprised.
Could you do some early Modest Mouse?
Andy Kilbride I second that request
In comparison, whats the harder of the two to play: smooth sailing or feet don't fail me?
Feels good man
Great job, amazing song
Try head like a haunted house next
I felt it.
Good job. Nice shirt.
If you did Fortress, that'd be killer.
Some of my favorite riffs on the album.
Good job, man
Always Amazing. Fuck, fuck Yeah.
this is fucking incredible!
Please cover The Evil Has Landed.
Fucking love this song
3 guitars... DAMN!
Excellent job!
What model is that white pickguard jazzmaster?
I'm curious as well
On his video for Avon he said "Custom build. Toronado shaped with JM style pickguard. 24,75"."
It has a good shot of the headstock, too.
ruclips.net/video/LjJnHucKSYw/видео.html
Alec J thanks!
could u told me the pedals u use?
the blue one isn't a fender. Could you tell me what mark it is?
Custom built.
thx
nice stuff, do you think you do bass videos as well with the guitars?
Send me a bass please :) Jazzbass would be great...
bloody brilliant!
Could you maybe post the tab to this song so we could learn to play just like you?
Head like a haunted house next... Please!!!
Dude could you please do a cover of Un-Reborn Again????
Are you running an amp simulation? If so, a vst or something would be cool because QOTSA tone is weird as hell to get right (or somewhat close) imo
That's a good cover.
Try "sugar Kane-sonic youth" please. Also, great cover.
Прекрасен и великолепен
Dude can you please do 3s and 7s
is there a tab or something so i can learn?
Jannes Verly The tuning is D standard. Just watch the video, play it in 0.5 or 0.75 if need be and you'll learn it easily.
I'd give Jesper's advice a try. Or just look at what he’s playing, haga
What do you use to record yourself?
Camcorder, PC.
I Love you man
AND HE DID THE INTRO IM DONE OMG
Kick ass dude
Pretty, pretty… pret-ty good.
Which guitar is for Josh?? 🤔
Superb ✌️
PLEASE I BEG YOU! Do Hideaway" PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
Nice cover! What video editor do you use for your vids?
Vegas, Premiere, Final Cut. But I like Vegas better.
my right ear enjoyed the guitar
I like Troy's guitar better.
Whats up bro, big fan. Could you please tell me what octave pedal you are using? Thanks a lot!
vst plugin.
maybe "Fortress" one day ?
when are we getting a Q&A?
That's pointless. 2 of 3 comments still would be about tuning and tabs :/
slackerVK well... there's that... :( but don't forget about the true fans! hahaha
Nice job
Amazing
