Very nice detail...The warjacks have an unusual look with the head way down the body with all the bulk on top, kinda hunch backed...Taking a look at the detail in the plastic I'm sold now. They have made the grade. Thanks! I'm picking up a set! 👍👍
I might have to get this. I have never played a Warmachine game, but I love the models and have a fair few of the old metals put together. The plastic looks excellent. It makes you want to touch them with brushes.
It absolutely does. It's been a while since I've been this impressed with a release. The figures were seriously a joy to put together! Going to get started on them as soon as I finish up what I've got in front of me!
@ObscuritiesinMiniature I love their character models, they make easy inspirations for stories, but I have a soft spot for steampunk robots. Did the jacks have any options, or is there only one way to build them?
I had no idea this was in the pipeline. Last I heard, Warmachine was 3D printing their minis, for far-future versions of each faction. This makes me want to know more about Warmachine for the first time in half a decade. Also, it’s High Impact Polystyrene. HIPS.
They still are. I didn't even know about this until it dropped out of the blue. I don't know if Privateer had been planning this or if it was all SFG's doing, but man did it turn out stellar. I'm the same- the interest in the game was mildly piqued with some of the new 3D printed offerings, but then this showed up...and WOW. Once I get it all figured out we'll have to meet up and give it a shot!
These models look fantastic . I might get a box as a painting project but not sure if I'll expand beyond it. The game seems to be much lower model count and at the same time a higher dollar/model cost than GW , which is something I'm having trouble wrapping my head around .
I think it can build up to a higher model/ cost count, but if it's at this level in plastic I absolutely could be swayed into picking up more. We'll definitely see what the future holds in store!
Man the model quality looks like it's come a long way since when I played like 8 years ago when everything was half metal still. Don't think the detail is still up there with GW and some others but they look quite a bit better now. Shame no one I know plays anymore :(
Nobody I know plays anymore either. Now's as good of time as any to get started up again though! I'll say this- they were a heck of a lot easier and way more straightforward than a lot of current GW plastics. Sometimes I can't figure out how the parts mesh together despite looking at the directions!
@@ObscuritiesinMiniature Yeah I would love to get back into it but it's hard to find people to buy into another game system and get them away from GW's or other games. I do miss the style of Warmahordes and the shenanigans you could pull off.
Looks really promising. Almost looks as good as GW or Archon plastics. I got started with MK1 in 08 and loved MK2. Ill miss the heavy metal but plastics was always a point of envy. The bits and customization it offered, how much easier it was to transport. The effect parts are a nice touch. Its funny when i first started, the GW bases seemed archaic but now that thats what Im use to, the WM bases feel fancy and esoteric. Hows poseability? I remember the jacks arms at least just being glued to a ball however way you wanted.
For a large quantity of the mkII days, I'd agree with you. Poses could be stiff and weird. When they started sculpting digitally and toying with resin figures, I felt there was an improvement. This set is a MAJOR jump forward for the game's figures. But I also remember all the horrible days of pinning everything in place and have no desire to return to it. I put my time in pinning and painting up a full unit of Nyss Hunters.
OH! I've been a no-go on Warmachine's weird resin models... everything I've got is the old metal version... but I'll certainly go for these! They look really sturdy and, happily, are not festooned with thin breakable bits like a lot of GW stuff.

HIPS = High Impact Polystyrene, the best plastic and works fantastically with Tamiya's Extra Thin.

Man the switch from handsculpted metals is such a brutal downgrade

They don't look steampunk anymore. Looks to scifi to me.
There's still plenty of it, but these two factions always tended to have a lot of cutting edge tech as it was.
