Thank you so much for this video, showing us the history of Laswrburn and how so much of 40K we know and love today originates from it. I'd read about laserburn before and you can see similarities there of course. But to see the models up close, even sporting what we recognize as boltguns today, the vehicles, even classes and factions. It really showcases where much of it came from.
@@uglubsarmoury Thanks for clearing that up, I hadn't seen the whole video yet before posting and only got parts of it as I was riding a noisy bus at the time it popped up in my youtube feed. Now that i have seen it fully I'll be stoked to see those tiny 15 mm models! I hope you find them. In the meatime though seeing the old guardsmen and DIY vehicles brings me back memory lane as I did much the same, but for second edition 40K. I also traded for some of the same guardsmen minis you have and a friend of mine had the same pewter terminators. I even used the same robotech model you talked about and took the decals from. :)
Thank you! I was sure there are others out there who played this before 40k….we are planning a game to use the Imperial Commander rules in December, we will certainly post a report on that
I love all my Rogue Trader & 2nd Ed era models I have.. Mainly Space Marines, some Space Crusade and R.T/2nd Ed Nids.. 1 or 2 Imperial Guard models and a few of the other models. I have some of all the exo suits, the 2 female adventurer models, Chaos Toilet etc My favourite models would be all the RTB01 marines I have and the 4 LE2 Imperial Space Marines I've aquired over the years
Tony Acklund of GW fame also wrote and did the art for Laserburn. Technically, Rick Priestly was brought into GW, along with Richard Halliwell, because of the Reaper fantasy rules that they wrote. That led to the creation of Warhammer Fantasy and 40k only came about after the third edition of WFB was released. You can also still buy all the original Laserburn minis and reprints of all of the rulebooks from Alternative Armies in the UK. They even have all of the vehicles available.
Thank you so much for this info! I had no idea you could still get them!. We ware planning to run some games soon using our old WH40k miniatures, but I'll certainly look up Alternative Armies - sound very interesting!
@@uglubsarmoury Great I'll stay posted, by the way I don't know if you said how old you were when you and your brother painted them, but ye did a great job and the little hover transports where very creative.
I used to look at adverts for Traveller miniatures in very early White Dwarf Magazines! I never got any, we got the 15mm TTG LaserBurn figures instead - and now we are trying to track them down, they must be in that loft somewhere!!!
Those hover craft are pretty cool, man, well done. And those imperial army troopers looked nice, too. Real eager to see what else you can find in your loft, should be a real treat. See you next time.
I am not sure if Reddit is where someone stated that Warhammer 40k was a rip off of Laserburn and Rick then stated that he had worked on Laserburn with Bryan.
Thanks for your comments - I don't know for sure, I only know the story I have told in this vid based on what I have read, but if you can point me in the right direction I'd prefer to get everything factually correct...
I have been doing a bit of research and while some of these look genuine, I think some are just general sci-fi ‘pirates’ - so sorry if a have misled anyone, but they do look the part, I hope you find the gang at an affordable price…..
@ if you have a game plan to use them it’s affordable, and who knows??? look at the price of those LE 2 space marines now…..I saw £100+ on eBay the other day…

It’s a small world! I was reading about them recently but didn’t look into the propulsion system, thanks for your comment, I’ve gone back and read the article properly now!
That's a proper walk down memory lane. Thanks!
Thanks for your feedback, we are busy getting some forces ready to play it again soon!
The peak of terminator design. Good stuff.
Thank you for your comment! I agree, the old ones are the best!
That's awesome!

Bubbling up adds to the effects of vehicle usage
Yes it does! at the time I was gutted, But now I'm pleased it looks unique - its so difficult to replicate!
Definitely keen to see those grav tanks get finished up! Awesome insight into the history of 40K though. Love that old design aesthetic
Those grav tanks will be getting a lot of love soon, I promise!
It's great seeing those older models,
Thanks again
Thank you - we hope to show them in a game soon, we are getting ready for some Imperial COmmander games and promise to publish some Battle Reports

Looks like those electric wheel motors were inspired by LeTourneau land trains from the 50s.
