I love how informative yet hilarious your videos are. Thank you for taking us viewers to the promise land!
I will never need to know this stuff but I'll be damned if I don't watch for the graphics and special effects!!! 😂😂😂
70NovaChick *Tamora* said everyone while they were in math classes
I'm just plain proud of Steve , keep doing what you do Steve ! GAPP THEIR ASSES !!!!
Steve thank you for discussing what your life is about in competitive drag racing. I have learned so much about tuning and setting up my own 1968 RS Camaro from you.
Thanks
He giving the game plan and simple Thank You
60 degrees of base timing at peak power down track?! WoW
I’m @1:26 🤣🤣🤣 pulling 20 degrees out for 2.5 seconds 🤣🤣🤣 that’s a school bus graph
60 degrees!! Jesus! I have a little single turbo set up and on my meanest tune it's like 17 degrees and 22 pounds and a 50 shot by my mph and e/t's I should be in the mid 700Hp range with a stock bottom end baby 4.8 293ci on E90 LoL Stevie may hate turbos but I love all boost makers and nitrous. but a lil turbo motor turning 7200rpm sounds amazing
This is the best vid ever!! KTR to the front🤣🤓
Would be interested to see engine load vs. KTR’s ignition map vs wheel speed. The Bermuda Triangle? Gat dang, that’s beautiful terminology. Huge fan of yours, Steve.
Thank you Stevie! New to the MSD Powergrid
You Are Welcome!
Then after Promise Land comes The Gapp Band
Your such a character Stevie Fast dont ever change the world of Drag Racing needs characters like you
I love the big man Billy Stocklin he is such an awesome dude and tuner . I love the way he thinks and goes about his business.
And is 1 of the nicest tuners Ive ever met and talked too . Congrats on another win at the weekend ;-)
Look out 2019 your on a roll Mr Fast and Team
Paul Mc Brien it’s Billy stocklin
@@helpmenow7 Yes your correct my bad - I'm sure he will accept my apologies - Dumb Aussie Carnt ;-)
You hear what he was saying in the run nice touch like I said keeping it real
Hey Steve I was just thinking today your timing graph with all the terminology would make a great t-shirt
I have never been around any radial stuff . How different are the radial tire and the slick and the dead hook and controlled slip differences. What does it take to make the radial tire leave hard? Maybe we can see 2 generic graphs of shaft speed on both ?
Hey Steve, what do you and billy stocklin look at with the racepak and what you guys take note on every run
Boy you crazy. Lol....Really enjoy the video's Stevie Fast 👍
Cool shit. When I grow up I wanna be like Stevie Fast Jackson
Thanks BRO
Okay,i just woke up,love the diagram, plan,of course the donkey
Damn boys, never thought I'd see the day stevie would be showing us a timing map! Hope you ain't terminally sick or nothing. Hahaha
The Bermuda Triangle swallowed him up one time with the old shadow when it tried to take flight.
Big hats off to you for letting us in on this!! One question though. Does the gapp band play the promised Land music??? Lol. Rock on Stevie!!!
That last .010 of the graph is were the gap comes in!
We just used to use a stutter box so only only 4 cylinders are firing while the other 4 miss then the next rotation the 4 that didn’t light the first time around light and the other 4 stay dead and that’s how we did our trans brake we didn’t use any variable timing devices they didn’t exist I raced from the 60’s to early 90’s the hay day of racing I would like to see one of you guys tune a 454 with eight single barrel carburetors I bet you couldn’t even do it if it was just a little Holly 750 double pumper sad the knowledge that’s been lost through your generation *( we ran 15-20 degree advanced on our timing cause I ran a 500HP NoS kit at IHRA tracks, but back then to change timing was an actual physical process not just done on a computer I think a carburetor/Mag/distributor are far more tunable than these EFI/electrical systems you guys run today we didn’t run any of that there was like literally maybe 10 wires or so going to the motor that’s it we could change a motor in about 20-25 mins if we rushed and another thing a lot of you guys don’t believe in is back pressure we’ll let me tell you it’s not a myth and without proper back pressure you down on HP lot of ppl these days just run straight open headers or bullhorns to get proper back pressure I had to add a 4”x18” pipe to my headers there’s an old way to find your back pressure point but I’ll tell that later cause I see tons of zoomies with no back pressure cause there cut off way too short )*
Amazing can't believehes
Kickass ty for the video #1KTR
Is the top of the promise land where you lock the converter up also ?
Love your videos, thoroughly entertaining... Question, you talked about tire temperatures that you shoot for in the last video, how do you determine the best tire temperatures to shoot for based on track temps and is there a temp difference to shoot for when comparing radial to slick tires?
Id think you'd have a better chance of marrying his sister than getting that info
Stevie is fucking hilarious 😂
I'm not a racer, therefore not understanding much, but very entertaining!
I thought everthing in the car was controlled by the holley ecu?
No wonder Stevie is so FAST ... 60* of timing must be for his 90% load of nitro!!!
Awesome
What does the u-haul donkey gap for Haney look like?
I also seen a comment on one of the other videos, asking you to explain what a dot plot is? I was going to reply to him but it would take a lot of bandwidth to explain that in a comment. lol
Living on the edge nothing like takeoff
If you don't know now you know.
I bet you ride the donkey for about 8 tenths of a second then you drop10-12 degrees tell you hit the triangle @1.2-1.3 seconds and you hit the promise land 28 degrees @ 1.5
SO THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED KILLING TIME RACING...………...
I hope to tell someone they do have not enough donkey one day.
Hey brother, got a question... So I know some guys use a fuel tech ft600 for fuel and timing control. Do you use a fuel tech to control your fuel, and a MSD grid box to control your timing?
He uses a mechanical fuel injection system and MSD power grid with pro mag for the ignition is my guess
@@codyratliff8302 It's mechanically injected based on rpm I believe.
@The Old Bait and Tackle so you are saying all the fuel is increased or decreased only by rpm increments and jet size? But do you think he uses like a race pack to record that data and review it to know what changes, if any, to make? I would think he would have to have something to review the power curve and overlay it with the timing map to make changes accordingly..
@@codyratliff8302 Yes he has a racepak to record data.
That said there are blown pro mods with EFI and all of them tmk run Fuel Tech. Steve is a old school guy i doubt he would ever change, but tbh I personally think the EFI would be easier to tune.
45th video and have you ever thought about picking up comedy mad you're funny 😭😭
Did he say 60 degrees ??
Yeah. Engines on alcohol or nitromethane are able to run high amounts of advanced timing.
I have a psi screw on alcohol 45 psi I run 26-30 max. I know you have to run a lot of timing on nitro.
Have you ever replace your dog that drown
Chad reneau - yep, boxer named Nitro.
Optimal timing on alky is like 28-29 degrees so if you pulled 20 out the thing would have like 8 degrees of lead🤣 to the 330
He said runs along about 60 degrees... Sounds crazy 60 degrees sheeesh
Mitch Marozas that’s nitro lead we run 55 degrees with dual mags on 90% and 75-79 on a single mag nostalgia fuel motor. Optimal for alky is from 25-30 with a single mag
@@groomlake51 lol you can't just say 25 to 30 degrees works on every motor. There are so many different variables. Hell we run 22-26 on most small block LSX intercooled gas set ups on Q16 with 12:1+ CR sometimes 13:1 CR making anywhere from 1400-2600 hp with a single turbo depending on size and 20-24 degrees on twin 88's Q16 intercooled set ups making up to 3000hp. On alky we could run probably 2-4 degrees more depending on air fuel ratio.
A lot of people don't realize how big a factor rpm plays in optimal ignition timing. These roots hemis run 10000rpm much less time to burn all that fuel load at such a high rpm and need much more "time" to burn it all efficiently so you have to start combustion even sooner on the compression stroke thus higher timing values.
I was assuming they were running 45-50 degrees ignition timing. 60 doesn't seem out of the question based on what they're doing with chamber design on the head, head temp during the run, quench, air fuel ratio and RPM. Cam design plays a part as well, mainly the IVC event. I guarantee they're in the 76-80 degree range ABDC when they're closing the intake valve @.050 to get them to RPM and keep making power.
Martin Smallwood sounds cool dude but I’m telling you I’m pretty familiar with alcohol and nitro and most blown alky guys run 28-29 of lead but what also matters is that the grid robs 5 degrees of timing it’s just a defect with that system that every one knows and every one a accounts for. I wasn’t speaking in general!! Lol your LS motors cute😘
Martin Smallwood you a foot ball coach brah??
still hossin the gas🤣
