He never came to terms with the fact that he was an introvert, who was also a people person. The two can exist within the same person, but it sure helps to understand that this is simply a personality type, not a disfunction.

No doubt lots of other music legends don't like making videos, either. I do know that one of George Michael's own idols and close friends Sir Elton John absolutely loathes filming them, but (like George himself) he realises that they are a necessary evil in order to effectively promote his latest work around the world.

I think i disagree. If the music is great the video would just elevate that. And how many Bands did i discover due to MTVs videos late at night. Also ironically, Freedom '90 is one of the most iconic videos of the 90s.
I agree. Also, an artist obviously cannot be everywhere in the world at the same time in order to perform his or her latest hit, but a video certainly can.

How wrong he was. The videos were, are, and wll always be the most promotional tool.
When you get an early, and quick success, you start overestimating yourself. I'm glad he had realized 8 years later and went on making videos when the "Older" album was released.
