Master chu shong tin. Was extraordinary. His students are exceptionaly fortunate to have studied under such a gifted sifu. My wing chun has changed since applying some of the elements discussed here.. Thank you for your gifts sifu chu shong tin. And thank you mindful wing chun for sharing this precious gem..
Some context was left out by the translator. CST said it was so ironic that he was able to get everyone to feel the relaxed energy over the decades, except for the one actress who knew Kungfu.
Yes, I was actually there when she came in that day and he tried to set her up and give her the correct feeling. He tried for a long time and he seemed very puzzled at the fact that she was simply not able to respond to his verbal and tactile instructions. He said after she left that it was the first time he had experienced that too
awsome Nima, i got aspergers syndrome, and there is much to this touching thing, i hate being touched it affects me badly, i dont know why.. and i think this is it! also there is a big difference between for instance being touched with open flat hand, and a grasp, even if you're stroking at the same 'hardness/softness' and i think its as you state, its the power of intension behind the touch. Another intresting thing is when i touch and stroke a dog for instance, my enitire mood resets almost instantly Facinating.
that's very fascinating re the touching of dogs mate! I wonder what thats about! And yes definitely the state the person is in makes a huge difference, PLUS with CST he knew where to touch and with what pressure and intention to facilitate relaxation in the other person. I'm beginning to be able ti get some good results these days too. Only took me 24years :)
Hi Nima, thanks for your video and great comments. My question is: do you think weight training will benefit the beginners for Wing Chun? I think I'm in the way to feel relaxation but still afraid that weight training may tense me up.
Ive actually made a video on this subject which I'll publish next month. But in short 1hr of weight training should be immediately followed by at least 1 hr or SNT (or a massage) so that the muscles dont keep a tight and tense state.
Nice, i like very much Chu Shong Tin's wing chun. Hey i got a few questions concerning your wing chun, more on a technical level. If it's allways so relaxed, how do you punch ? Do you clench the fist just before contact or is it like relaxed half open fist when it strikes, and if it's the latter how do you avoid wrist or hand injuries ? Another question, footwork, is it just a walking footwork, you just walk like normal and that's it, and just do a step to the side if needed, and jog if you need to get to point B faster ? and when you step is it on the ball of the foot or heel when foot touche's the ground ? Thanks, it will be very insightfull for me, keep up the good work and good day.
actually when the joints are mindfully expanded, they can take much more pressure than when they are tense. what we are talking about is not 'floppy' or mindless relaxation. Floppy relaxation is powerless and the joint will surely be injured that way upon impact. and yes, footwork needs to be as natural and spontaneous as possible. but the key is to be in the 'Nim Tao' Sate and therefor be able to move the entire body from the center of mass (which is what we are trying to find by practicing Chum Kiu). And allow the foot to land naturally just like when you walk on the street. dont think about heel or ball landing first. The aim is to be natural yet mindfully relaxed and in the Siu Nim Tao state with all that we do. Im actually working on creating an online course to help people understand the correct method of practice step by step. So hopefully something will be ready within the next 6 months!
Ah nice, thanks for reply. There is really alot on mind/thought level, than it is about techniques. Well, keep doing what you do and share with us. I feel fortunate that i could discover this wing chun, thanks to internet.

Hi Nima, thanks for sharing these great footage of wingchun
My pleasure, glad you guys are enjoying them and ill keep them coming!
I think i get it now Nima. Not to actually do it. But to get what you are saying. I suspected it but this really clarified it.
Nice! It starts with intellectual understating and then we have a road map and know where to go from there to be able to embody it. Happy trails mate!
thank you for sharing!
Pleasure mate :)
Thank you !
welcome
