    The resistance check guided me perfectly on to identify a faulty pilot burner solenoid (which I then swapped out avoiding the need to change the entire valve) on my Ideal Classic 350 boiler - thanks guys superb video - you are total life savers!!!

      @@AllenHart999 if I could be cheeky and ask for advice/an answer. I've found its a common problem isolating worcester greenstar's electrical supply and then turning back on and blowing the fan? Have you heard of a way of preventing this happening? My mates a boiler expert and and says he just tells customers to be present when he turns them back on to witness the pop so they don't blame him lol. I've heard they've brought out a mark 2 fan now that doesn't have the problem but not sure if that's true? Thanks again for all your uploads.

    Great video, very informative and well delivered. The issue I find is actually finding resistance value information to be able to complete the tests. What is the best way to get the numbers? You would think every manufacturer would just put the values for each component near the front of their manual so it's easy to find. Thanks Gents.

    I want to know if a Westen Star Condens gas boiler is the same as the Baxi Duo-Tec! After cleaning (acidifying) the Al-SI heat exchanger, the "Automatic calibration" will start, but after ignition it will throw away the flame! There's a new electrode in it! The videos are very helpful, thank you!

    Hi Roy does the second gas valve work the same way as the zero governor. I thought zero governors were negative pressure due to the fan sucking and blowing the gas onto the burner

  • @jordan9318
    @jordan9318 3 года назад +1

    Great stuff as usual. I've got a question if anyone knows and it's regarding the very first valve you worked on. I was working on saunier Duvall Xeon. Pilot would light but main burner wouldn't.
    Question 1 How does the ignition lead send the signal to the pcb that ignition is present? Is this similar to flame rec?
    Question 2 MI's indicated this was a board fault, but customer already had another guy fit a new board so discounted this. I checked connections on the lead and the lead itself but still no joy. Anyone any clues as to what was wrong.
    I called glowworm but they advised that they can't give any technical help on this product anymore. Cant help but feel I missed something simple.

    • @royfugler9971
      @royfugler9971 3 года назад +1

      Hi Jordan, Yes it's the same as flame rectification. If the ignition is still sparking once the pilot has lit it could be either a bad earth connection or reverse polarity to the boiler (live to neutral crossed). If the spark had stopped once the pilot lights the Pcb has sensed the flame so could be main solenoid or solenoid lead, check if you have power going to the main solenoid once the pilot is lit.

    Good afternoon,
    Questions:
    1) Why does the gas valve have two coils (V1 - V2)?
    2) Why do the two coils have different resistance measurements?
    3) Do V1 and V2 open and close at the same time?
    Thanks

    • @royfugler9971
      @royfugler9971 2 года назад

      Hi Baffo,
      Thanks for the questions.
      1/ The reason the gas valve has two solenoids is that one is the main solenoid and the other is a safety solenoid, in case one solenoid sticks in the open position or has dirt on the seat, the other would still cut off the gas.
      2/ The resistance is different is due to the spring pressure they need to over come to open.
      3/ Yes V1 & V2 both open and close together
