i miss john so much and i have no idea why. it's like your best friend you knew all your life died and theres nothing you can do but mourn. i mean, i like ultimate Dirk as a character because he's very interesting and well written, but i like John more for some reason

@@elizabethbilyeu3031 it's okay, Homestuck^2 prides itself on being "beyond canon", it's literally in the title. with that in mind we dont really have to apply what is and is not canon to the timelines anymore because the story itself is beyond those verbiage. this means that we should focus on both considering they interact with each other in multiple ways, but for the sake of simplicity both timelines have been combined into one story while both continue independent of each other. one story, two simultaneously occurring plotlines.
I hear this when Terezi give the instructions to John for fix the timeline after Game Over. Like a *another chance* for save the life of his friends and win.
after that epilogue, i sure hope there's another chance

i think the main takeaway for me from it was that it's like anything else that dies on this bitch of an earth... dust to dust, every glorious kingdom one day fades into obscurity, but the spirit of it's people live on in those who come after. the epilogues made me deeply sad and lonely in a way i had rarely felt before. empty and hollow, as if the limitless passion and mystery it once heralded in my heart was just a mid-summer night's dream. in it's truth unreal; just a figment of my own personal imagination and projection of unconscious desire. I wanted to feel like there was something bigger than myself that i was truly passionate about. homestuck gave me the power to stand in my own authenticity and develop a personality that was, for the first time, something i actively desired to cultivate beyond meeting expectations of others. when the story ended in 2016, and even moreso when the epilogues came out, it was like i finally had to come to terms with the fact that the experience was only as real as i believed in it to be. i had given it a world of my own creation, placed delicately in my heart as something fragile and precious to be cradled with the deepest affection... but it was just that... a creation from my own mind.
I cant say for sure what made hussie take the direction he chose near the end, except that the metaphysical nature of it's lore and meaning was captured eloquently by the final interaction of davepetasprite and arquius. in it's brevity, there was the poignancy of a truculent elephant having a spastic seizure in a tea-shop combined seamlessly with the occult significance and hidden moral that had laced every page before it. in the span of less than 20 pages, the entire webcomic's identity as a work of art and medium of one artists' personal expression of the deepest nature of the human condition, was placed succinctly for the reader to digest by the means of two horrendous freaks of nature with access to universal consciousness bonding together in what, for all intents and purposes, was both a solemn reminder of the transient nature of self identity and it's relation to the bigger picture of collective self-discovery, as equally as it was just a complex, drawn out horse joke. hussie had painted a tapestry that i believe will stand the test of time as a remarkable and deeply relatable depiction of the concept of "Higher Self" for a generation so distanced and antithetical to religious ideas and spiritual doctrines such as ours.
i'll always miss homestuck. some part of me will always remember those simpler times, even if they were objectively more miserable and confusing. i'll never forget the encyclopedic knowledge i developed of every single page, every single pesterlog of every single character, enormous classpect theorycrafting threads i eagerly scooped up and pondered starry-eyed late into the night. in a way, the "second chance" is me, i guess. no matter what happens in life, i'll always remember what it meant to me and i'll carry that with me until I too pass away, dust to dust. my heart yearns to one day bring our people together again to relieve the magic of days long gone... cons with awkward teens dressed in ridiculous cosplays and body paint acting out patterned routines they had developed out of sheer obsession and repeated creative impulse. even if there were bad moments and experiences of animosity and hate that grew out of young, immature minds not understanding the impact their actions truly had on others, they are *all* still my people... and i feel content to know that each of us that remember those days will carry the lessons learned in our hearts, even if the outer trappings and memories are too difficult to bear with the same enthusiasm we once had for them. each of you who read this long ass essay and get this far are the ones i'm talking about. you're reading this because it's something that resonates with you... whether you are here because of homestuck or because of some other reason, we're kindred spirits, you and I. go on from this place knowing that it was all worth it, and you have done and are doing amazing on your journey thus far. one day, maybe not today, but one day... things will get better. I love you.

(reposting my comment on here since i wrote it as a sequel to the one on Game Over and people seemed to like that. this one's less sad.)
The world awakens. The crushing silence broken by howling gusts. The knight climbs to his feet as a blue light surrounds his friend. The witch and seer watch in awe as the body of the heir rises up, carried by the wind. The light grows in intensity, enough to momentarily blind all onlookers. The wind suddenly increases as the heir floats back to the ground. As the blue light recedes, two azure eyes open. John is alive once more.

For some reason, when I hear this I don't see it as John's second chance - it's more like the story of the human beta and alpha sessions. I mean, the crazy 8-bit is Jack's rampage, 2:15 is John's ascension, then everything after that is A52 and the scratch, and finally the song goes back to the start with the alpha session.
The alpha session is the "Another Chance"?

i wrote a song and it's called 'if the theory that, after winning the game, the players who survived til the end are reset to their pre-game states while keeping all their in-game memories which means dave will have to return to his abusive household I'm going to start a *riot*'
