The cover art is so innocent and dreamy. It reminds of the beginning of Homestuck, when I did not understand what was going on, yet the unknown made the story so magical. I really miss it.
How is this sad? To me at least, it captured the feeling of doing what was thought impossible. Yet somehow, this thirteen year old boy managed to learn the secret on his big, blue planet, on his birthday. The secret was flight.
shit this song is making me emotional. they were all so _young,_ back when they were first exploring their planets and everything about this game was still a mystery whose layers they had to uncover one at a time, and they had no fucking clue about all the death and devastation waiting for them further along and I just--
True :'c One of the most messed up things in the whole comic is the single fact that all (or at least most) of them were just kids that had to watch their friends and family dying over and over again :'c
Watching John take off with his rocket pack as this played on Let's Read Homestuck made it so much more awesome. Even though homestuck has it's sad moments, it's still amazing that you can find all of the happiness in this sadness. This is one of the few songs that despite all of the sadness that has happened, it shows that there is still hope in beating the game. It may seem hopeless, and that there is no way to win and so must give up, but you should never give up as there is always a way to win. Always believe that you can, and you will.
Yes they did, even if there was some minor hick ups along the way they still won. They still beat Lord English and made a healthy universe. They took something that was considered impossible at the begining due to how glitchy their game was, and with steadfast DETERMINATION they got their happy ending. Still, I am just sitting here wondering what has become of Vriska and where she is. She deserves her happy ending too.
***** Eh, they'll find her eventually. The game's over and done with, so Dave now has complete control of the timestream; if all else fails, he can just travel back in time, find her, and bring her back to the future with him. Then John will inevitably make jokes about Dave bringing Vriska Back to the Future.
I remember back in 2013 when I was 13 I started reading this on my shitty little laptop whilst violently typing to my friend on Skype about what's happening, shit now I'm tearing up. Thank you
This song feels like watching the sunrise on a beautiful spring day after you stayed up all night and you know in an hour or two you'll have the best sleep you've had in a while
God I love John so much. The very thought about this courageous little man makes me smile and feel that everything is possible. The same applies to Jake, but in a more complicated way.
I imagine this being the theme of someone who's suffered a great amount of tragedy and heartache in a very short time. They had everything they ever knew and loved just vanish, and they're lost. The don't know where to go or what to do. All they have is one thing- one troublesome gift that fate decided to bestow on them, but even that brings along some new suffering. And yet, right when they least expect it, things change. They find a new home and a new family among people who have suffered similarly. They just come out of no where, and over time, slowly, and with grieving, comfort, love, and care, they learn to smile again. They regain the laughter they once had, and they continue on anew. That's the kind of person I hear in this song. :)
Actually, not really "Savior of the Waking World", but Radiation's "Penumbra Phantasm" (which "Savior" actually borrowed from, so that's where the similarities come from). A lot of themes actually in Homestuck borrow from Penumbra Phantasm, but Radiation never released it, and it seems that only members of the Music Team have ever heard it. Some instances where we hear part of it i can remember off the top of my head are the piano parts at the end of Umbral Ultimatum, or in "Prospit Dreamers"
Don't forget that a snippet of it appeared in Volume 8 listed as "Null". It was reversed and extremely quiet, and quickly removed after being discovered. Veeeery mysterious. :D

Oh this was the first Homestuck song I ever heard, I had just clicked on the link to the bandcamp website and picked this one and seriously listened to it on repeat for 2 hours before I realized I should just buy some of the music and ugh it's all so wonderful.
i was just looking up information about other homestuck composers besides toby, and of course when i was looking up songs made by Jit the first one i found references the entire penumbra phantasm melody.
i love this song. It's so epic! Really, i can hardly describe it. It has some kind of hopeful optimism to it, and makes you want to go on an epic adventure yourself, and it gives you so much energy! Homestuck is amazing :D
I loved this song so much, because i think it resembled “umbral ultimatum” the most. I may have forgot the name of the song, but i think it plays in “jade enter”. I remember that song was never fully released, but starred in all kinds of songs like this one as leitmotif/s. Edit: the song i was talking about penumbra phantasm, and this resembles that song the most, which i fucking adore.

Well. Unlike SOME songs, this one sounds just as good at normal speed as it does in 4/3 speed. I like this one as a calmer theme, and the other one makes a more upbeat active tune, sort of like what you'd hear at the beginning of a grand adventure.
no problem, i think you have to find a fan translated version though, i think the original sheet music wasnt release, i think people have translated the melody though and thanks!

I love this song. It reminds me when I was little before I had to deal with all the hassles of everyday life and when I thought anything was possible

the piano (mostly at 1:12) reminds me of livetune's tell your world, and the P in the title just screams vocaloid haha

+GuardianAngelFanga It's a reference to Penumbra Phantasm, a unreleased Homestuck song which quite a few Homestuck leitmotifs originate from.
Hero_of_Legend oh yes, that makes way more sense :D
Well I know many vocaloid artists end their names with P, but that doesn't fit very well.
do you have sheet music for this?
I once dug it up, do some googling and you can find it. i just dont remember where
Okay thanks! BTW I love your username.
no problem, i think you have to find a fan translated version though, i think the original sheet music wasnt release, i think people have translated the melody though

Who are the 4 dislikes?!
This feels like an undertale melody
The main melody is made by Toby Fox.It's called Penumbra Phantasm.
You need to read homestuck, you actually need to.

I think I'll just take it from both of you.
