I had only been privy to the look of an African Rhino. I purchased a Rhino figurine and from Schleich and to my surprise it was this fella here lol he's adorable! 🦏🤩and indeed a unicorn! Not as fantasy like but certainly a unicorn lol 😆
Of course their armor is there to protect them (males) when sparring, but seeing as the females also have armor i would venture to say they developed it as defense against predators foremost. Rhinos are a very, very archaic mammalian lineage. They have coexisted with - and outlived - dozens, maybe hundreds, of different predatory clades. Giant hyaenodons, giant crocodiles, etc. Things that haven't existed in millions of years. And of course more contemporary threats such as tigers (which themselves were on average twice as large as modern examples just several thousand years ago) I find it strange that African rhinos aren't armored, given that they experience more pressure from predators in modern times than Asian rhinos. I suppose that in lieu of armor the African varieties could have gone the offensive route with their much larger weapons (horns) and a more aggressive disposition.
It’s complicated. In terms of aggression the Indian rhinoceros is more aggressive than the white rhinoceros but less than the black rhinoceros, this more has to do with habitat. Black rhinoceros are the most aggressive rhinoceros species due to the fact that they live in dense brush habitat where threats cannot be seen until they are in close proximity. White rhinoceros live in more open habitats allowing them to discern potential predators from farther away. Indian rhinoceros like the black rhinoceros are required to have some level of aggression due to their dense jungle habitat. Keep in mind aswell Asia isn’t a great deal less dangerous than Africa, it’s just many of the powerful predators once there have long since gone extinct. Despite not having a large horn the Indian rhino is an animal that does go on the offensive, having large cutting teeth they actually bite their attackers and have even been recorded wounding elephants.
3:20 if you pause here and look at his skull you can see some traces of how a triceratops would look like, look at the bone in front of his ears, to me it does look like a small frill, what do you think? doesn't it look like it is a direct descendant of ancient triceratops ?
We need to have all countries quadrupole the size of their habitat protection areas. Many wild animal habitats are being erased by farmland, roads, and buildings. Many forests are being cut down and the trees are not replaced. Save the animal habitat.
@@ashutoshsingh7016 Nah, it's still far more docile. An African rhino will charge at u even when u r at a distance, these guys won't. I once passed right next to one and it did nothing. They r like big cows. Though they may get aggressive during mating time or when with a baby
