- Ukraine has set up a military administrative office in Russia's Kursk region, where its surprise incursion into Russian territory continues, according to its top military commander.
Gen Oleksandr Syrsky said the office would "maintain law and order" and "meet the immediate needs" of the population in the area.
In a video posted on social media, Gen Syrsky is seen telling a meeting chaired by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that the office has been created "on the territories controlled by Ukraine".
Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov has said Moscow will send reinforcements to "safeguard" the population in the region.
Ukraine also claimed to have made further gains in its incursion on Thursday.

So challengers & leopard 2 tanks are defensive weapons, they are made to hold lines & help infantry , unlike Abraham tank that is an offensive tank, also there is only 25-35 Challengers & 3 were lost in 2023 counter offensive in the south, so there is about 30 left, it's a risk to use them in Kursk
Especially if Russia can capture a destroyed one, they'll be able to see what kind of technology is in the tanks,

This is a huge strategic mistake on part of Ukraine and NATO. Firstly, they sent their best units into Kursk, they should have been to support their forces where they are struggling in the east. The idea was to get the Russians to divert soldiers way from the Donetz region but this has not happened. Ukrainians do not have enough men to hold the Kursk region. Now they Russians will simply grind away at best trained Ukrainian troops and in the long run term will hasten Ukrainians defeat. This incursion has given the Russians the chance to destroy the overrated Challlenger, M1 Abram’s and Leopard tanks. Most people commenting here have no clue about strategy.

Not sure who advised the Ukrainian Nazis to engage in what is amounting to a suicide mission, as they have weakened their dwindling forces elsewhere, speeding up the liberation of the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of the Russian Federation. I think Ukraine trying to shake things up. Warfare needs constantly moving a changing battle fields to be successful, instead of wasting time on the frontlines down south why not invade Russia in the north? I think the goal is to cause chaos and push further into Russia, I think Ukraine primary adjective is to force a draft of it citizens to cause internal dispute or force relocation of troops to make another massive push to reclaim it's land. And now with this new front they have a easier launch point for attacks deeper into Russia.

Due to the hype Russia used to have around it, I used to think that it was militarily the second strongest country in the World, but now their lack of results proves to us that if it were not for its nukes, it would be average, at best.
If you put the u.s into the same kind of war it would probably be hard for them aswell it’s very easy to fight a war with air supremacy and no air defences like the U.S did in Iraq but fighting with no air power and gun to gun inch by inch is not easy and would be a war of attrition sorry to say they probably wouldn’t do much better considering Ukraine is very well equipped with a lot of US weapons anyway and is not doing too well against Russia as it is

Whereas the Ukrainians are evacuating Prokrovsk, some 67,000 people because the Russians are now 11km from the city and once they take Prokrovsk it's open lands all the way to the Dneiper river 👍
