- Hans Niemann knew how to entertain in the Interviews at the FTX Crypto Cup 2022 in Miami. "The Chess speaks for itself" is going to stay around for a long time and the 1000$ Uber Eats payment will maybe hurt Hans' pocket, since he didn't win a single match in the Tournament and therfore didn't receive any of the price money.
I like how he walks more slowly coming out the door after each loss to magnus

I love how Magnus react to his explanation at 3:40, like WTF is he talking about
Maybe it's because of his postgames explanation that Magnus has come to the conclusion that this dude cannot be 2700 legally
Probably a little bit of soreness in his hind region
These interviews are hilarious, if it weren't real I would've thought they were part of a sketch

You want to hate him for his arrogance but then you understand that this guy just can't lie he just says whatever pop his mind.. no filters hahaha
Nice hans hang on
Exactly
I think he will be one of the greats. He some some unique charisma that I cannot quite explain. SOme type of confidence like Magnus Carlson that stops just short of arrogance. Similar to Magnus Carlson that way, but Hans Niemann is a totally unique person and I expect hime to make a huge scene in chess.
@@tomdallas3690 I see a lot of arrogance in Carlsen, and a lot of honesty in Nieman.
@@frednimzowi9852 It's the other way around, Carlsen is humble when he loses. The only way to describe Neimann is insufferable
@@patrickbateman6620 🤣🤣🤣🤣 even Magnus says of himself that he's a bad loser. YT is full of clips of Magnus bad attitudes after losing. Bad mood, grimaces, etc...including yesterday's game by the way.
Niemann has attitudes whatever the result. Very authentic guy. But yes, he's arrogant as well 😉😁. In a very funny though weird way. Not in a bad loser way like Magnus.

WWE INTERVIEW BRRROOO
It’s funny how both Niemann and FTX became two of the most infamous names in the world shortly after this.
Hans really takes these games to heart. I really hope this brother is ok.. People love trolling him, but he is a person. And we don't even know how the bad press he's getting is affecting him
The way he walks off after commenting with no emotion at all is meme-worthy
You’ve got to love this guy. He’s a bit gauche and madcap, but he has incredible resolve and a competitive spirit. The guy’s only 19 and it’s clear many of his antics are just an act. He plays it up. He’ll get more mannerly as he gets older and gains more experience, but the guy is likable, at least to me.
Without guys like this Chess would be less fun.
I hope this guy becomes World Champion. Years of fun ahead for all of us.
That’s not how it woris
you would hate him immediately with this attitude if he actually was the best lol
If he didn’t say that chess speaks for itself line no one would be watching this video
Somehow he developed a Russian accent. The hair speaks for itself
But ok.
After seeing this, his vs magnus interview seems so natural. The guy just uses 100% of his brain power on chess and shuts down.
Exactly
"Chess is indeed a gentleman's game." - Ancient greek quote

A good cheater!
@@AgentSmith911 i dont see how hes a cheater. innocent until proven guilty.
@@laindoer333 just watch these interviews again, pay close attention to his eyes. He has the eyes of an egomaniac, you can tell these losses destroyed him. You can see him formulating a plan to never let it happen again.
@@AgentSmith911 how could he cheat lol
You can see him becoming more humble interview after interview. I think he learned a valuable lesson after this xd
He set the internet on fire with that "chess speaks for itself".
This man retired Magnus let’s give him a standing ovation 👏 Chess speaks for itself
Cheater can't even explain his analysis coherently.
@@jibrankhalil4837 i get that you love Magnus but that doesn't mean you can make random ahh assumptions like that he's a cheater, without prove.
@@MrBaumGeo How can a supposed SGM misevaluate a -3 position as completely winning for white? and this is not even requiring precise difficult play for white when all the alternative lines are like -2.5,-2,-1.5.
GMs don't just sacrifice pieces without knowing the followup lines in case the piece is accepted. Here after Qg3, dxc4, Bxh6,g6.. Hans don't even knows any follow up moves and gave losing lines.
Not only that he did not know the follow up plans of h5 or Bg4 but he also misevaluated the losing line which is suggested. That's not one but rather two big red flags right there.
That coupled with the opening miracle, him being a CONVICTED cheater just 3 years ago, fake accent/attitude just singals something is not right.
@@jibrankhalil4837 Thank you for genuinely bringing your arguments to light, I will take them into the equation to consider my final assessment of the situation. Also, I think most likely you and I are not the experts on the subject of cheating and we should let the experts find out whether Hans was cheating or not. We must be patient in this matter

Changed my mind. Hans is alright
I swear he slipped into a northern Irish accent for a bit towards the end there. He's a chameleon. Odd guy. I like him
How is he 19 with this much confidence
What did you achieve in your life? Loser.
Acting like a diva is not confidence.
A lot of 19 year olds are like this; the ones that haven't grown up yet.
@@NeaEmrys He’s 19… he’s still a kid.
He's a weird mix of extremely socially awkward and also really confident aha, the lack of eye contact gives it a way tho.
Why does he sound perfectly American in the first clip and then have a strange European-sounding accent in the chess interviews?

I was a head case at 19 too. You can tell he's really struggling to keep things together psychologically. I hope he doesn't burn out because he has a bright career ahead of him.
yeah most cheaters do
@@jotarokujo5132 shut it weeb, you have no proof.
In the end it is simply about making sure your ego gets in the way as little as possible, but also pushes you forward in terms of drive. if you want to improve in that regard then its like any other psychological problem you want to work on, you have to look at yourself in different situations, understand what distracts you or motives you, and try to improve those habits of behavior and thought, pertaining to the task of trying to win chess games it’s simply a matter of thinking, studying and playing with less trauma and unhealthy stress, but not putting out the drive to win. think about it, if you woke up believing in yourself every day regardless of what happened yesterday, that could be a bad thing or a good thing, but it has nothing to do with what happened last night, just what that feeling makes you do today.
So this is the most hilarious thing I've seen in a while. I can barely believe it's real!
hans is a smart guy, the secret to resetting is resetting without noticing so you can win and get back on track. No that doesn’t really make any sense, a win helps your confidence but beyond that it doesn’t really make you play any better, thats just a feeling hansy boi.
Hans: "Go to the ocean and never come back..."
One of my new favourite players. Loved watching him during the Crypto cup.
8:49 The funny thing is, that's exactly what he should do. Pride comes before the fall
He is a rock star
Hans doesn't deserve so much hate.
And the interviewer doesn´t deserve a bratt letting him hanging after he made a follow-up question. Ditch the Cr7 attitude.
Yeah he just seems like a chill 19 year old dude. He doesn’t even seem that cocky to me, is he supposed to say “I’m going to lose Magnus is just better” no.
That shits boring. Competition is what makes chess interesting. Not the players all being super prim and proper like we’re royalty.
He does if he's cheating. And we have plenty of indication for that.
The Magnus Slayer.
The thing is, people with large egos get tilted by losses and pushed by them as well, but it f you are good at building your personality then you can try to diminish the effects on the negative side and inflate the positive consequences, of both wins and losses.
But if you build your personalty too much, you just don't care if you lose a game of chess.
How would you personally know? You have a big ego? 🤔
@@eljanrimsa5843 this
Hans lost so many games and no one called him a cheater. Even magnus was happy. But as soon as Magnus losses, here come the allegations
Hans love the confidence just "win"!
I love him, because you can feel that he is really a great guy. Nakamura is quite the opposite.
Sorry this arrogant brat, who was caught cheating multiple times and disrespects other GM's who never cheated is not the definition "great guy". Naka, Ian, Ding, Caruana and all the others worked hard for their achievements without cheating, without being disrespectful like him. Imagine being such a fanboy to not realize how bad of a character he has. Ridiculous. But shows what his fanboys are like.
@@JackHarb89 And he didn't work hard for it? Multiple times, lol. He cheated online when he was 12. I don't think his real character is bad. What I find ridiculous is that people don't see what kind of person Nakamura is.
@@peterm2750 He admitted cheating with 16 as well when he was caught. So at least 2 times he got caught cheating, not just one slip as a child. And in addition: Yes! He admitted cheating to gain easy and faster rating points. Other had to work for it. And the way Hans was speaking about how hard he trained is hypocritical. Every prodigy who has potential like Alireza is training their ass off. Even way earlier and more consistent than Hans does. Hans was not able to get his GM titel 2 times. Cheated in between and gave up on it. He then started again with covid. Take a look at ALL graphs. If you only pause for a year when you are young, you lose a lot of potential. Alireza powers through. Naka did the same, same for Caruana and Magnus. They never gave up on Chess. So please spare me the "he didnt work hard". In fact he gave up on it, just to for a miracle come back and beat Magnus with Black. But no worries, the story will continue and we all know the outcome. Some does simply not want to realize it because of some hate on Magnus.
Hans : "I want to jump in the ocean and never come back"

I know these types of guys because i was like him in period of not having friends or interest in anything. Nothing weird for a teenage that is occupied by chess and not having life because of chess. He is just sad
good to see he got the last laugh now :)
People think this guy is cheater because Markus Carlsen did some comment on twitter. I think Magnus is just a bad loser and afraid of losing his face on an international stage also because not defending his title. He is getting weird like Bobby Fischer.

It's like Hans Niemann thinks he's the protagonist of his own anime
One of those guys who can't lie and is bad with words.
Everyman of chess.
Hein Donner would have liked this guy.😅
I know this is mostly theatrics and clearly an strategy on NIemann part to become noticed, but I hope he drops it off (or at least tone it down) before it backlashes on him. He can be edgy but still thank the interviewer for example (and don´t walk away when he is still asking you a question, obviously, simple etiquette)... otherwise many people will justifiably start to dislike him.
The way he approaches the game and his reactions after losses do not seem healthy. Maybe he’ll mature as he gets older but the way people reacted to his interviews I don’t see him changing. Clearly he’s not on the same level as other young gm’s such as Prag so to get in these big tourneys he’ll continue to be a character unfortunately.
What if he is not playing a role
I dont feel like that is playing a role. I know alot of chess players, who are really straightforward on their thoughts. No filter so to speak. Hans seems like that he doesnt filter either.
... your comment doesnt make sense, its like youre asking the antagonist of a movie to be polite. This guy was made to be the villain in the chess world and thats what people enjoy about him. I just hope that he is mentally doing okay 🙄

After Grishchuck he is the next badass of chess...
Grischuk is nothing arrogant, though.
@@Leokuma7 that's why he is no1
He's playing a character. Here today, gone in two weeks
When is SNL doing him
Tbf the interviewer is somewhat terrible. Obviously awkward, not picking up that someone is walking away and proceeding to not only ask a full question but then literally hold out the mic to thin air for 5 seconds. And also just keeps asking question after question irritatingly. And also hoveringly waiting outside the playing room awkwardly. Just annoying behavior.

Very interesting
he got bullied so hard in school u can tell
I doubt it - probably the opposite.
nice projection
I am so confused, why does he have a different accent now? It seems to change every-other interview
He learned to play chess when he lived and attended a school for highly gifted in the Netherlands for a couple of years as a kid. I guess he thinks as a bilingual when it comes to chess, and sometimes he talks this way.
