I honestly don't know how Carlsen hasn't faced sanctions for his actions. The Sinquefield Cup was a FIDE-rated event; the correct procedure is to voice one's concerns to the TD and then just play the games that were agreed to be played, or retire from the tournament. But one can't just publicly accuse another player of cheating without evidence. That violates the rule about not behaving in a way that brings chess into disrepute.

Funny as this is, most, if not all standard chess tournaments, are co-ed. There are women-only tournaments as well, but standard tournaments are not barred in any way, save some small, local tournaments. The whole reason the women's division was created was to increase that specific demographics' interest in competitive chess. Women were barred from chess for quite some time, though.
This is sooooo well made, i had to leave a comment. I already knew part of the story, but this is so good that i had to watch the entire thing. Much deserved love from Italy....
The chess website has data that shows that Hans was cheating online until he was 17, but at the same time we have 8 year old players in the World Rapid and Blitz chess championship. This is a weird situation. How much can you demand from a child.
He won money through an online tournament in which he cheated. If he developed a system for cheating OTB that he could get away with, he would use it. Unless he massively matured in a couple years which obviously is not the case given the egomaniacal way he conducts himself. He constantly minimizes it and lies about the extent of his cheating in the past. You can hold him to basic ethical standards of competition despite being a "child" (at 17?) because the vast majority of other junior masters compete fairly.

I don't think he cheated he just done something unexpected which has happened before in chess on kore than one occasion. Just because it was magnus carlson that lost. And magnus Carlson who started accusing him with no evidence. Then the wild anal head conspiracy theory hit and everyone magically agreed with no evidence yet again. No its tue simple answer that magnus just lost that day to an unexpected series of moves that presented themselves. As has happened in the past. Lastly Magnus was not looking at his absolute best at the time anyway. He is a sore loser though when he doesn't get his own way on a chessboard for a change. Nobody is perfect all the time

Keep telling yourself that. He cheated once he will cheat again. Also the man is literally insane. Insulting everyone left and right and lying so obviously.
Before this game. Magnus hadnt lost with the white pieces in classical for 5 years. And hadnt lost any game to a player rated lower than 2700 for 10 years and hans was like 2660 at the time. So this is literally an absurd anomally.
I think theres a bias for Magnus in the sense when everyone has mythologized you into what he has been mythologized into, theres a bias for whatever he says or does. Magnus i do think comes off like he understands that but I think ppl like Hikaru who need content and comes like a narcisstic asshole in his personal conduct are willing to put words in Magnus' mouth when hes staying quiet with discretion.
so I have watched this video twice before being recommended it for the third time by youtube . As a chess player ( better than some , worst than some) , The consensus of the chess community is a bit in the middle . He probably didnt cheat against magnus but he definitely cheated more than twice and arguably in a prize money event . For people who think that the chess community is freaking out over a single loss from magnus and believe magnus too much , this is all because Carlsen is known for acknowledging the strength of his opponent and he is literally one of the best player in the history of chess. he is in the GOAT conversations in chess . He may have some bad manners and has thrown some fits over the board but he rarely display actions that he did especially after he became world champion.
the consensus of anyone who has a brain is that hans cheated in online games at 2 different ages when he was younger and that there is no evidence for him cheating in OTB or online since then. It's as simple as that
@@mutdd3954 The only thing that can be reasonably contested at this point is the extent of his online cheating in the past. But these ppl will latch onto anything that indicates guilt and ignore everything that indicates innocence like FIDE's investigation: "The matter was addressed by FIDE, first by an Investigatory Panel of the Fair Play Commission (FPL). They concluded that there was no evidence of cheating by GM Niemann at the 2022 Sinquefield Cup and other over-the-board tournaments played by GM Niemann over the preceding three years. The FPL therefore concluded that GM Carlsen’s accusations against GM Niemann were unfounded as far as they concern over-the-board chess."

The interview where he analyses his game is far more damning than this video gives it credit for. There’s no excuse for not being able to give variations and being straight up wrong on key moves
People using that interview as proof of foul play is ridiculous. Hans had just achieved an enormous milestone in his chess career (one that most pros can only dream of). He was dragged infront of the entire chess world just moments after having defeating the greatest player to ever play the game where a very messy and illogical analysis was offered up. All of this while Hans was barely 20 and had only recently started to receive more attention from the chessworld. To ignore or dismiss any of the context around that situation is incredibly uncharitable and likely hypocritical (I would be willing to bet a lot of people might also come across the way he did if placed in a similar situation).

@@searsino but that's not true. He made the analysis messy and illogical, and it doesn't matter if he was barely 20. He could've been 12 or 85, if he can play on that level, he can understand the variations. It's pretty obvious to me. Having a weird reaction when you're in front of the camera is understandable, but this is only one of the many suspicious things. If you put all these together, you will see the picture. There's no proof, but it's still pretty obvious. It's like when you meet someone and there are many red flags. Some people see them, some people don't.
If one piece of evidence has zero value on its own, it has zero value when added to others. 0+0.... is still 0. Also, you are basically saying "He is a cheater because of vibes". You would not want a justice system based on vibes. Until there is evidence to prove guilt beyond reasonable doubt, innocence is the default
Hans improved more because he played more. That simply isn't true. With Chess or any other professional games. Most of the time spent improving in chess or any board or video game is spent analyzing the game and their mistakes. That doesn't mean he must have cheated but the idea that more games = better performance at a professional level is just untrue. Most professional players do spend most of their time on their profession. That is true for almost all games/sports.
I think the reason for bring up the quantity of games was moreso to demonstrate how much time Hans was devoting to the game. Obviously brute-forcing games does not directly correlate to improvement. However it is well documented that pros utilize coaches, chess theory/history lectures, and even an efficient post-game analysis (you can see this in action through streaming... Hikaru, Magnus, Hans and many other pros offer consistant live commentary and analysis during and after most games).
you misunderstood the point if you think the quantity of game was being referred to as solely the quantity of games. It was to show how how much time Hans spent on the game.
Magnus has lost many times and has lost to Hikaru, Prag, Alireza, Anand, Caruana and Nepo and yes he hated loosing these games, of cause he does otherwise he would not be a winner. But that is not the point. The point is that he has a reason to believe Hans has and will cheat. He does not have a reason to believe Hikaru, Prag, Alireza, Anand, Caruana and Nepo has and will cheat. That is what makes the big difference here.
@@ProgressIsTheOnlyEvolution nope. the real reason is that he looks down on hans. At the time he lost, hans was just under 2700. The fact is magnus was just being a sore loser.

Then says the logic is wrong because there can't be any correlation due to ACPL metric is not very trustworthy in his own little mind. He acts like he disproved an analysis and goes on to the next section in the video, while the point he is trying to make has no sense because the correlation IS THERE and already shown.

if your partner admits to have cheated in the past, it does not mean they are cheating right now...
However, it means they have it in them to cheat. Some people do not do it by principle. Others will do it, because they are put into a situation where they feel like they need or want to.
This is how i see it. I would never date a person who cheated, just because i am aware they have the capacity to cheat instead of talking to me.

I find the arrogance of Carlson astounding, resigning and making this big accusation repeatedly, with his main "evidence" being that he didn't like how it felt to lose? Come on.

Playing naked would solve so many problems (not to mention greatly increase interest in co-ed chess)

You can hold him to basic ethical standards of competition despite being a "child" (at 17?) because the vast majority of other junior masters compete fairly.

so I have watched this video twice before being recommended it for the third time by youtube .
But these ppl will latch onto anything that indicates guilt and ignore everything that indicates innocence like FIDE's investigation:
"The matter was addressed by FIDE, first by an Investigatory Panel of the Fair Play Commission (FPL).

It's pretty common for people that rely on instinct and intuition for their games. Sometimes we do things subconsciously.
@@user-ip1ow7hf8c That's true but it doesn't mean that you can't understand the variations, especially on that level.
By the way, you seem like a nice person and your logo is cool. I like your editing and your channel is badass 🙂.
I love the part when Carl said "ban jisu"
Playing more = seeing your mistakes more and learn for the future. Use your brain.
