Welcome to the Letterman RUclips Channel, home to all your favorite clips from Late Night and Late Show - as well as conversations with the writers, producers and performers who helped make it all happen. These highlights have been artisanly-produced, carefully-curated, and chosen completely at random by an old computer that used to pick numbers for the New York Lotto back in the 90’s.
It's Thursday, time for Viewer mail! Best segment of the week. Thanks Letterman gang behind the scene for posting these classic clips.
I love the way he jumps
I mean, might as well, y'know?
@@TheGreatAtario yeah...go ahead
It's always nostalgic to get a GLIMPSE of Dave.
Phil Donahue will be 87 this year and is still married to that girl Marlo Thomas 👍
Paul's such a sweet person
That whole segment was at least 'potting soil' worthy.
I'd go all the way to cup and sponge.
At least the audience liked the dog and Morgan's smiles.
love dave miss him
Oh, the Phil Donahue Countdown Calendar. Those were the days. Remember when they had it on the side of a building, I think up in the Bronx, and it caught fire?
I looked it up. I half-remembered that the mic was an RCA (DX 77 model) but couldn't remember if it moved with him to the Columbia Broadcasting System and apparently it did. The one on his desk at EST was, apparently, a gift when he left the National Broadcasting Company which was of course the broadcasting arm of the Radio Corporation of America ... long before those General Electric weasels took over (of course, GE and RCA and NBC and even ABC were all part of the same corporate pot, the outgrowth of a government seizure of Marconi radio patents around the time of WW-1).
Regardless of all *that* it's a great looking mic. Apparently Johnny Carson had the same model in his early, presumably East Coast, days.
That guy kinda looked like Phil Donahue... I can't be sure tho. ;P
The answer to that question is... the RCA 77D Condenser microphone.
Many announcers and TV hosts swear by this pill-shaped classic.
I think you mean "Ribbon Mic".
Dear Dave, something about Paul's shortcomings...
So great.
Please please Barbara and Mary have Paul on your "Podcast"
Barbara and Mary have a podcast?
6:42-7:05 HILARIOUS !!!
Fan request: how about some Mary Chapin Carpenter

I bet the monkey wrangler wished they'd been given the day off
When late night talk shows were actually funny!

Another segment he eventually dropped before he mailed in the last ten years.
