  • Appendix carry is one of the most popular positions to conceal carry a firearm. In this video, Werkz team member Jamison discusses techniques for appendix carry when you have a bigger-shaped body.
➡️ At approximately 300 lbs., Jamison demonstrates the equipment and position he uses that makes appendix carry easy for carriers of all shapes and sizes.
Ease of access and concealment are two of the most key factors to consider when determining where you want to wear your firearm.
Many people prefer the appendix carry as it is easier to hide with clothes and keeps the firearm readily accessible with limited movement required to pull and fire.
➡️ From clothing patterns and sizes to gun sizes and holster types, Jamison has all the details you need if you have a bigger body and are interested in appendix carrying your concealed weapon.
💬 What is your favorite carrying position? Let us know in the comments!

Im 6’2” tall and weigh 250 lbs and I’ve been looking for a holster video that doesn’t require the body of an Olympic athlete. In fact I’ve watched holster videos where the reviewer actually says something to the effect, “Of course, this won’t work if you’re fat and out of shape”. Great content. Thanks.

I’m in the same boat as you. 6’ 2”, 250#, 36-38 inch waist. Dad bod+ yet not enough to really cover the butt of the gun that wants to bulge out because I don’t have enough busted biscuit hanging out to cover. Having a hard time coming up with an AWIB/spare mag holster for my XD-9. No appendix carry for me I guess. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I know this is an older comment, but I’m 6’0” maybe 6’1” and probably 280-290. I’ve carried appendix in sidecar holsters for a while and used tier 1 holster, holster etc. what he said about having a sturdy belt is the truth. The belt and holster help immensely concealing. The brand of belt doesn’t matter as long as it is a good sturdy belt. I can conceal a Glock 19, or a staccato P with a giant magwell and 20 round mag. Wedges like the bump they put on their holsters work well, whether you use a dr scholls insert, a tier 1 wedge or yoga mat, it pulls in the grip and helps it conceal to your body.

I have a umbilical hernia and can not tighten my belt too much, so wear a tucked in cotton T-shirt under suspenders to help for comfort and irritation the suspenders give, then a "urban-cammo" shirt, over all of that.
I had a seamstress change all my favorite shirts buttons with snap fastener buttons with the buttons still displaying on top as normally to help expedite my draw.

Outssstanding!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 One of the best handgun concealment presentations I've seen. Very well explained and conveyed.
Another thing I agree with, you don't have to carry a micro or subcompact handgun for "maximum comfort." I personally prefer to carry a handgun with a minimum 4" barrel length, or higher, but never a "cute" little gun. I seek maximum effectiveness and functionality on a handgun, not maximum comfort.

Thank you for this video. I think I investigate sheaths and belt and try it out at home for a while. If it works out for me, I will check into a concealed carry license. I would also like to add stretchy jeans/ pants will also help in this case. I am about 5’8” and 240 lbs. I have been carrying appendix for about two years now. I do not have a werkz holster. I currently use a Davis Tactical. With a claw and a foam wedge I made out of a memory foam shoe insert. And it works wonderfully. Also I carry with a next belt it allows me to loosen a click or two while sitting and tighten after you stand up. It’s extremely comfortable I also attached a soft belt loop to the boater to prevent accidental un clipping when sitting.

I've also found that I can drop most iwb holsters down into my right front pocket and hang the belt clip over the outside edge of the pocket opening. It has to be a tight belt clip, and you need to adjust the holster retention to allow a little easier release, but it's very comfy for standing and sitting, and keeps the pistol at 2 o'clock. It works for me with an untucked shirt or jacket.

I appreciate the tip of not wearing a "Glock" "guns are cool" shirt, I used to think it was so cool to put a "protected by Smith & Wesson" sticker on my car. Then someone told me that's mostly an advertisement to break into your car, I think the same goes with concealed carry and gun shirts, maybe not an advertisement to rob you but definitely makes you a target for anyone in a mass shooting/ store robbery situation.

I use to weigh 250 6’ tall and I would still appendix carry. I’m down to 207 now and man I gotta say with a great holster (tenicor) and nexbelt , conceal carrying appendix is crazy comfortable. I forget my 19x is even there . Compared to before it was def noticeable.

Good info for us larger guys. Debating to carry full -size or sub-compact as my daily.

As you can see, Jamison went with the full size route. I believe most people shoot their larger pistols better, whether due to training more often with it, or due to the increased control, so I suggest you use what you train most with. That's my two cents.

I have a werkz holster for my P365xl build with a TLR7sub, and it’s cool and comfortable when carried on the hip as I too am a fat man with a big ol gut. But after watching this I was like I have nothing to loose let’s try it. And I’m still playing with it but I think I may just start appendix carry. I do think I need to get a holster for a larger gun though I am thinking I may try my Glock 45, but I also have a few P320’s I would prefer to carry.

Appendix is the only way I like to carry. And I quit doing it a year ago as my muffin got more top. I'd love a holster to make it manageable again

I’m a similar build at 6’2” and 310, but a bit more gut because I was 450 about a year ago. I started carrying appendix in the last few months and I actually find it really easy to conceal, it’s for sure easier to access. Sitting down I’ve found I need to loosen my belt a bit to give myself some room, otherwise I can drive all day and still be fairly comfortable. I carry either a full size M&P or a Shield, and yeah the full size is actually more comfortable. A holster with more length would definitely make carrying the Shield easier. With either one a wedge and a claw are must haves for me.

I'm 6:3 280. I wear mine in same position. Glock 17 TLR-1 LIGHT. I am using a We the people belt. I'm planning to change to a Tier One Concealment Holster Aegis

Got the same gun and same holster. I added the Striker Control Device to all my Glocks. Really makes me feel a lot safer reholstering appendix.
