I was thinking the same thing before reading your comment. What a great guy to realize that people such as himself you are heavy set, want to be able to protect themselves and family if necessary, though never wanted. I have the 4.0 Shapeshift combo kit and love it so far!
As a big guy, i cant express how much i appreciate this video. The candid open discussion is exactly what is needed. Not everyone who carries is built like a navy seal. And it is no fun being miserable or in pain all day just to carry concealed
I have a regular iwb holster (leather with a flap thing above to protect when drawing) and I have 3 main problems. Sometimes either or, or sometimes all together. 1) because of the way my hip and side is, I can draw but I can't re-holster because the flap closes and it pinches shut. 2) is very uncomfortable. 3) if I find a comfortable position, it is revealing all the time. No matter what shirt I wear or what pants I got on, it's just out. So, until I can solve that problem, I just put the holster in my front pocket and just try to wear a looong shirt
Anthony Madrigal thanks for watching! I am glad I can help people out there be more educated and safely and comfortably practice their 2nd Amendment rights.
True...I'm 6'2 300lbs... carrying isn't very comfortable....I would rather wear an owb holster and a size larger shirt so it won't lift up and show my gun
Dear big guy, thank you for being so brave! As a big an tall myself I'd rather wrestle a bear than discuss my gut in public, let alone on a video going to be seen by the masses. Thank you for helping me to better understand what may be more comfortable and better concealment at the same time. Was wondering, with the paddle about the middle of the video that can move to horizontal, have you thought about or tried it in more of a front (under gut) position between first and second belt loop? I've thought about this a great deal but haven't found a holster that would be capable of this and cant afford to try several holsters that might not work. Thanks for any input.
Will M. Actually Alien Gear put me through a two day tactical training course and I used the paddle. For many folks our paddle can stick out too far but for my build it sticks out just far enough to clear my shape and still sits close to me. I hope that answers your question.
I'm a big guy myself. I have tried 4 or 5 different holsters. I purchased the alien gear 4.0 holster. And carry it 4 o clock position. I love the neoprene backing. Keeps the gun from digging into my side. Most comfortable I've found so far.
Now this is customer attraction not just service. This guy saved me alot of time and also sold me on giving Alien a try for my new Sig P365XL IWB. Thanks sir, I see why they have continually promoted you. Don't lose your honesty! Best...Chris
Best video ever. I've seen very little information about holsters for heavier people out of any holster company. I'm glad you guys are addressing this issue! Cudos to you guys!
Great video guys. Personally, I like to carry using shoulder holsters. I used to be pretty big too. To say that I liked to eat is an understatement. At 5' 6," I was a 2XL with a waist size of 44" and 240 lbs. I was not quite as large as Maxwell, but for my height I was considered morbidly obese. My suggestion to bigger guys is to go on keto, vegetarian, vegan, or Paleo and just lose the weight gradually over time. I've tried them all. I still rotate between different diets. In 2015, I went into a coma and was discovered to have out of control undiagnosed diabetes. When I came out of it my parents, my dad's best friend, and my wife were by my bedside. People were expecting the worst. I had to go through nearly a year of therapy to relearn how to walk, talk, and use my arms again. I had to start maintaining my health and going to the gym on a daily basis. Over the last five years I have lost nearly 80 lbs. and dropped down to a size 32 waist. Now I can carry two guns and 4 extra mags IWB with about an inch to spare when I wear my old pants. I'm not trying to fat shame. I've been there. I hated going to the gym and exercising. But I know that the alternative is either death or really bad health, and because I have two kids, those aren't options for me. All the best to you , Maxwell, and to everyone else who needs to lose some weight. Stay safe, be well, and God bless.

THANK YOU, Maxwell, for showing that we fluffy people have options too. Thanx to you I now have a holster and clip carrier that is comfortable and functional and has made me very confident. Well done my Man. Peace.
Right, as a big guy I can really appreciate how he put himself up there honestly for RUclips to see. I'm looking for different options and this video really really helped
Maxwell thanks for your honesty in what works and what doesn’t. I can tell by the way you spoke honestly about the pieces you like as well as those you didn’t like for bigger customers. The way you explained pro and cons with honesty shows that you genuinely about your customers. I will be looking at Alien Gear back pack holster based on the fact that you simply left me with a great impression of your customer service department.
Fantastic video. Being a bigger guy I have alot of trouble finding solutions and the internet is not normally a helpful place. Talking about actual solutions instead of telling me to lose weight is GREATLY appreciated.
@@Dero_milsurp oh great advice from you and literally everyone else. That doesn't help anyone now. People of all shapes and sizes have the right and the need to defend themselves, regardless of your opinion.
Ken Bailey losing weight will help you. Both in health and in self defense. Yes. You have a right to defend yourself. Why wouldn’t you increase your chances and efficiency by getting healthier? I never said you don’t have a right to. I’m saying lose weight and be a better prepared fighter.
I cannot thank you enough for doing this video...all of my shooting buddies and myself all struggle with finding holsters. I will 100% be buying your products for the fact that you took the time to address this huge issue. Thank you from East Texas..
Thank you. I am 52 years old and will be going through classes for proper grip, stances, etc. After that, I will be getting my CCW. I've hunted for 45 years, and have been familiar with fire arms all of my life. Still I I recognize though that I need a lot of training. This is my body shape, and it really helped to help me with choosing my holster for CCW. Thank you again!
I've been carrying my Alien Gear 2.0 Hybrid for so long that I was skinny when I started using it, and now that I have gained more weight than I care to admit I am still able to carry it in a different position. Props to the bigger guy for putting himself out there like that. Keep up the great work!

As a larger sized guy, 5' 9" and 300 lbs, I never thought i could carry IWB, Alien Gear made me think different. , it is as, or more comfortable than most custom leather holsters that I own.
@Captain Cookbook How do you know he hasn't lost some weight? Maybe he has lost a significant amount. Shouldn't comment on some for which you don't know all the facts.
Fantastic guide! It's great to see a resource specifically tailored for bigger guys and their concealed carry needs. Your advice on how to select the right holster, clothing, and firearm for larger body types is incredibly helpful. This video will be a valuable resource for anyone just starting out with concealed carry.
Alien Gear Holsters I’ve been looking for a good concealed carry holster for a while and I will likely be buying an alien gear holster. I need to learn more about the system overall, but I will visit your site.
Sean, thank you so much for the positive feedback. I never have seen my size from any positive angle until reading how my perspective has helped some folks. It is very humbling and makes me feel so blessed to work where I work and do what I do!
Super helpful. I’m a bigger dude and I just got my first handgun and I was worried about where to carry and this is really awesome can’t wait to get my gear!
I always like seeing info for big people. The skinny guy is completely clueless about anything related to being big and it shows. I don't like Alien Gear Holsters or any similar style holsters but there was some good info in this video. Thanks.
I love all the positive comments on this video. It speaks volumes about the character of us 2A supporters. I will definitely be looking into one these holsters if I decide to get my CCL in Illinois. I'm 6'5" and 340lbs and this video gave me alot of ideas on where to carry and the pros and cons of each location.
Alien gear all the way. Retired cop, fat guy. You talk the talk, then walk the walk. Alien gear, all the way, the only way. Only professional, realistic carry system i have ever come across. Thank you. Respect, my brother.
Thanks - a much-needed video for us "larger" folks. I'm only 5'10 so I'm not very tall, but at 233lbs, I'm definitely a bit rounder than your average bear ;-) I just received my core carry kit - and I can't wait to experiment with all the various options to find out what works best for me! Thanks again!
I think you are a great company. Thank you for doing this video. I'm sure it wasn't the most comfortable one to make but, this is for people that have real questions. This answered many questions. This is why you are a better company than most. Keep up the great work and thank you.
I have so much respect and admiration for Maxwell for really being brave, and tackling a topic that can be very embarrassing for people. As someone who is heavy as well... THANK YOU for being so brave and helping people deal with something a lot of people don't want to talk about. Much respect to you. Also, respect to Tim for being so chill and matter of fact, so everyone feels comfortable with the discussion. Great video great video indeed. Thank you to both of you. 🙂
Excellent info guys. I really appreciate it. As far as comments about the “skinny” guy being clueless, that’s just reverse bullying. Maybe he doesn’t have direct experience, but he is sympathetic and empathetic and obviously a little uncomfortable talking about the issue but tackled the subject and accomplished their goals. As someone who is a bigger person, I appreciate the candor and also understand how awkward this conversation could be. In our PC world, people cringe when I say that I’m an old fat guy. But I am. And I’m comfortable with that. Thank you guys for being comfortable enough to give me the info that no one else has. Multiple gun shops, Fleet Farm, Cabellas, etc. so yeah. I’ll be picking up your shape shift set. Thanks again.
As I am larger myself this was most helpful. Thanks alot for the info. Because of this video and especially the gentleman explaining how we larger people can carry more comfortably carry I purchased 2 alien gear holsters now.
Thank you for specifically making a video for how best to conceal carry for bigger people! It was awesome the bigger CSR guy was there to help make the video from 1st. hand experience! ! Thanks again!
I'm a bigger guy, and I carry a full size Glock. After researching many holsters and how they were made, I went with Alien Gear because I believe the level of research and development that goes into the product is top notch. I bought the Cloak OWB belt holster thinking that, as a bigger guy, it was my best option. After falling in love with the OWB, I did more research and I decided to give the Cloak Tuck 3.5 IWB a "30 Day Test Drive". WOW! I can use this IWB without discomfort! I now use it for my daily carry. I use the OWB when at the range or hunting/hiking/fishing, etc.. I'm very pleased with both holsters. I'm so pleased with your products that I just ordered the Shape Shift 4.0 IWB for my back up/alternate weapon. Thank you for making these products, and for continuing to make it more comfortable for us bigger guys. Rob
First comment lol as a fellow big guy i cant appendix carry but the iwb holster is very comfortable. I bought my shape shift kit almost a month ago the versatility and quality of Alien Gear is amazing. And bought the drop leg as well, very comfortable. Def recommend AG to everyone!
Thank you doing this video Maxwell. I'm a big guy and found a lack of video's out there that cover this important topic and few holsters that work well or at all. I stumbled on to the cloak tuck before the current version and it has been the most comfortable and concealable holster for my full size .45. I'm getting ready for a micro compact and looking for available options and this video was "THE BEST ONE" out there for larger concealed carriers.
I'm a big guy and the guy in the video hit all the points of what's comfortable/not comfortable and why. Thanks for making this video! Awesome tip on carrying an extra mag! Never thought of that!
Thank you so much! You addressed something that most people don’t want to talk about. This was extremely beneficial for me because I am a bigger guy and ITW carry is much more difficult. This type of info is why I am an Alien Gear fan and use an Alien Gear Holster Shapeshifter system for my Glock 43X and my S&W Shield! Thanks again guys!
I'm big in the middle as well @ 5'11" and 215lbs. The Appendix style works fine for me at 3 thirty to 4 o'clock posn. It is more of a Freedom Style holster and I use the smaller belt clip. I carry either a G26 or G19. Depending on my cover, I do like the belt - slide as it holds very close to the body @ the 4 o'clock posn.
being 6' @ 300lbs I've had success with the AIWB at 1:30 with the handle canted down. With my Ruger LC9s, this allows the extended mag to contour to my leg when sitting and getting in/out of a car. My gut and t-shirt provide excellent concealment. Since my extra weight is primarily forward, I find that anything past 2o'clock sticks out too much and prints fairly obviously. But, canted at 1:30, I spent a day getting in and out of my car and walking several miles and almost totally forgot it was there
I am 5’ 11” & weigh 295 and I only carry in my right front pocket in a soft pocket holster. I carry a TAURUS G2C with Zero issues. It looks like I have a wallet in my pocket with any style pants that I wear because the soft case takes away the outline of the gun. I usually wear cargo shorts about 99% of the time. I like all of those extra pockets and the comfort they provide me.
As a person of size (aka a fat dude) I did extensive research before I bought a holster. My budget only allows one, not multiple carry platforms. The IWB 4.0 was highly rated for plus sized individuals. I've had mine since last summer and LOVE it. Thanks, Alien Gear. BTW it works great with my Taurus G2C.
Big thanks to max!! It takes a lot of bravery for us big guys to be in the spotlight, esp the spotlight for the fact that we are bigger people. Thank alien for this video. Will definitely buy from you guys
I have to say . You guys are great . Both of you did a great job . I am a Holsters Junkie . Yes I said " Holsters Junkie " . I like having number holsters . My 1st gun I had 20 years ago 357 SW . 6 holsters . I got my 9mm Beretta PX4 Storm few years back . I got about 3 or 5 not sure . But now with my new gun Taurus G2C . only 1 and a belly wrap kind . Not that crazy about it . But with gun its smaller to carry and my wife feels better that its harder to tell if I am carry or not with the Beretta it is a bit hard to keep covered . ( Jr big belly here) I am talking my time and looking for goon one's I like owb's the most . I have seen your guys stuff . I never really checked out your web site that good . Well after spending 2 hours looking around and this video . I'm sold . I'm buying from you guys only . Watching your video and the topic is not easy to talk about . But you 2 did a great job . Really did . You care about what your selling . That is great to see . You believe in what your company sells . Thank you guys

Thank you for doing this video Maxwell. I can see how it could be uncomfortable to talk about this subject but I appreciate you putting yourself out there.
I have velcro'd a Dr. Scholls gel heel insert to the top of my IWB holster that I wear at 3:00. In addition to spreading the force and stopping the bruise from the back of the gun pressing into my side when I sit, it prevents my skin and shirt from being caught as I re-holster. It's a great simple hack that works. This as opposed to going with a hybrid holster that will become floppy with sweat and may not have good retention.
Thank you so much Maxwell! I have a body very similar to yours and I was wondering what would be the best type of holster for myself. I know it's not easy to be put on display like that for being hefty but you made me feel confident. Give that man a raise!
I've been using your holsters for many years and I love them. I really like the new belly band holster you introduced recently. I wish you would support red dots on a Sig P320. That's the only thing that's preventing me from using Aliengear for both my carry pistols.
Make Maxwell a regular host if he isn't already. Very smart, knowledgeable, and communicates effectively! Definitely obvious why he was chosen for Director of Customer Service.
Dudes like "do you not carry around the front becaussseeeee... Your skin over hanging?" Like BRO obviously the reason is because of his belly, like why make him say it out loud? 😂
Thanks for making this video! I’m new to CCW and I couldn’t 100% follow everything, but I’m going to your website to see if there are pictures that julep me understand.
I've just watched completely for the 2nd time and am genuinely impressed with the extent and HIGH Level of Customer Service that "Alien Gear Holsters" puts into their brand and marketing! If you are ever looking for a remote/off sight CS Rep please give me a shout ';-) thanks Mike...
I'm a larger guy myself (5'11" & 275#), I have the ShapeShift Core Carry Pack for my Smith & Wesson M&P SHIELD .40. I rotate between the OWB Paddle, AIWB @ the 3-3:30 position & CloakTuck 4.0.

Maxwell, thanks for representing strong men with other shapes. I've been using Alien Gear shape-shift for 4 years now and find it to be a great platform that can assist as I do. Just picked up a second kit to replace my neoprene that I wore out. None of the nylon parts wore out, never had a concern. Also wanted another shell to provide more options for life.
I as a bigger guy use yalls Appendix Carry holster at the 330 to 4 O'Clock position, I like a minimalist style holster, and your Appendix carry is really comfortable there and works well for me.
I'm 6ft tall 300lbs. I use a 3.5 because the shapeshift is not available for the CZ Rami. I wear about 3 oclock, front clip of the holster is against the back of the forward belt loop on my Jeans. I went up to a 42 waist from 40 waist when I started carrying. Position of the hooks is top on front, middle hole on the back hole.
My favorite, when I'm in the woods and more concerned about accessibility than concealment, is the paddle holster. Carried in my 5.11, Apex, BFE. or Propers in the front, right pocket it holds your weapon at natural hand height ready to grab however, not great for crowds. The extra material, usually found in "tactical" pants front pocket tops (for knife or lights) works great to support the weight. Thanks for the video. A lot of great considerations.

Thanks for making this video. I am a fellow big man. And am looking into buying my first pistol. I was a little concerned if I would have trouble if and when I would want to conceal carry. Very informative. Will be visiting your site after I get my pistol.

I use Shapeshift IWB and it works very well. I have a beer belly and 0300-0400 is right for me. Holster does not dig in when sitting, bending, or in my recliner 😊.
This company has really come a long way over the years. I made my own appendix holster out of some clear poly I got from my local Hobby shop. It came out really well, however my LGS carries Alien Gear Holsters so I’m going to look at them this weekend.
I don't have an alien gear holster. I use the leather iwb holster from Walmart. I'm not huge, size 34 pants, but still a little gut these days compared to my youth, and appendix carry was growing more and more uncomfortable. Always hated the idea of carrying in the back due to driving/sitting and thinking it would be uncomfortable. Tried it the last couple days and literally went back inside thinking I forgot my pistol. So comfortable, and considering buying one of your holsters as a thank you 🙏 this video is awesome.
In addition, I preferred addepix carry because is seemed more concealedable in contrast to a side carry. The 330 or 430 I believe you called it is just as concealable and surprisingly comfortable sitting, driving, walking. Would feel much more confident with a fitting holster like alien gear, versus my leather one with stretches with time and use.
I have been around the block with concealed carry and holsters I'm on the heavy side too. I found that undergarment suspenders help very much in the proper support and comfort of a concealed firearm, tied into a good strong belt this would be the only comfortable way to wear concealed or open carry a gun. In the winter time I'll use a shoulder rig that way I have two magazines available and I can wear a 1911. in the summertime a P365 x macro Carry comfortably either on the belt or shoulder rig. Suspenders are the ticket for the big guy.
I appreciate this. I’m 6’1” 250lbs and a thicc backside. Pants shopping already sucks and I have to get a iwb for my new job and this video kinda gives me hope
I own the 3.5 Cloak Tuck. I'm a bigger dude and carry at my 4 o clock. I carry a full size frame pistol. Thank you Maxwell for your knowledge and great pointers...

@@Dero_milsurp who says that anyone who finds this video, including myself, isnt? If it was an overnight thing I'd have done it years ago.
I cannot thank you enough for doing this video...all of my shooting buddies and myself all struggle with finding holsters. I will 100% be buying your products for the fact that you took the time to address this huge issue. Thank you from East Texas..
Thank you so much for your kind words and for being a subscriber. We are happy to help. Happy carrying and stay safe!
You're welcome, we're glad it was helpful. Thank you for being a part of our RUclips community.
I've been carrying my Alien Gear 2.0 Hybrid for so long that I was skinny when I started using it, and now that I have gained more weight than I care to admit I am still able to carry it in a different position. Props to the bigger guy for putting himself out there like that. Keep up the great work!
As a big guy who is confident about it it’s funny seeing how often you’re avoiding using the word fat😂😂
We know most big guys are big enough to take it. But we just want to make a video that will help as many people as possible.

As a larger sized guy, 5' 9" and 300 lbs, I never thought i could carry IWB, Alien Gear made me think different. , it is as, or more comfortable than most custom leather holsters that I own.
Me too.You took the words right off my keyboard
I'm curious Ryan, which model did you get?
@Captain Cookbook you need to grow some brains. oh, wait, you can't do that . . . you're permanently stupid.
@Captain Cookbook
How do you know he hasn't lost some weight? Maybe he has lost a significant amount.
Shouldn't comment on some for which you don't know all the facts.
5'9" and 300lbs isn't "larger sized" that's what you call a fat ass cow
Fantastic guide! It's great to see a resource specifically tailored for bigger guys and their concealed carry needs. Your advice on how to select the right holster, clothing, and firearm for larger body types is incredibly helpful. This video will be a valuable resource for anyone just starting out with concealed carry.
Wow. I really like this guy. He's so personable....you guys are lucky that you got such a smart and affable customer service professional.
Thanks, Sean! :)
I would love Maxwell to wait on me. He knows his business and is correcting the host, if he doesn't know, well. Great job!
Super helpful. I’m a bigger dude and I just got my first handgun and I was worried about where to carry and this is really awesome can’t wait to get my gear!
Thank you for watching! We are happy to help!
I always like seeing info for big people. The skinny guy is completely clueless about anything related to being big and it shows. I don't like Alien Gear Holsters or any similar style holsters but there was some good info in this video. Thanks.
Right ! like yes many of the holsters don't fit him because he is big WE KNOW THAT
Can i ask why you dont like alien holsters? Im looking to get one
Same here
@@mattwood5654 I like the comfort of my alien gear appendix holster but my axis slim conceals MUCH better.
@@mattwood5654 some people dont like paddle holsters, I love mine
Actually just bought your makeshift 4.0 sets for my 19x and I love it as the owb paddle, but as a heavy guy this video is well appreciated
Respect for putting yourself out there to educate big man.
Alien gear all the way. Retired cop, fat guy. You talk the talk, then walk the walk. Alien gear, all the way, the only way. Only professional, realistic carry system i have ever come across. Thank you. Respect, my brother.
It is our pleasure! Thank you for watching!
How that kit work out?
Great video for educating folks about your line of holsters, as well as, options for larger folks.
Our pleasure! Thank you for your kind words and being a part of our community.
Very nice need more video's like this. A large number of us larger folks exist and we need options.
We appreciate your feedback, Jake! :)
Great video with a good discussion of options from an actual big guy. Highly recommended.
This is amazing. I'm proud for that guy to help us bigger guys to learn better options for carrying
You are so welcome!
6'2" 300lbs and the IWB holster for my Sig P938 is my go to. I've been wanting to know about the shoulder holster for my size and this was perfect.
I received my shape shift kit yesterday for my Taurus G2C as well as the shell for my Smith and Wesson SD9VE and I am EXTREMELY satisfied with it.
We're very happy to hear this and we appreciate your feedback! :)
Im glad you shared this. Im a big guy and have been looking at many different options and this helped a bunch.
You mean fat guy
But, canted at 1:30, I spent a day getting in and out of my car and walking several miles and almost totally forgot it was there
Is that the paddle one they showed that can move horizontally?
Thats my concealed carry fav
Appreciate you doing this. Takes a lot of courage for you to put your body type out there for guys like us.

I'm a big guy and I wear Cloak Tuck 3.5 with a Walther PPS M2 at the 4:00 position. It's super comfortable and doesn't dig into my side.
Slk Ric heeeyyy! I got a PPS as well.
Thank you for doing this video Maxwell. I can see how it could be uncomfortable to talk about this subject but I appreciate you putting yourself out there.
Glad to say, I've lost enough weight to carry comfortably
Adolfo Rivera God Bless
Congrats! Working on that myself.
What method are you using to lose weight?
Good for you. 👍
Good stuff
I have velcro'd a Dr. Scholls gel heel insert to the top of my IWB holster that I wear at 3:00. In addition to spreading the force and stopping the bruise from the back of the gun pressing into my side when I sit, it prevents my skin and shirt from being caught as I re-holster. It's a great simple hack that works. This as opposed to going with a hybrid holster that will become floppy with sweat and may not have good retention.
Brilliant! Good thinking.
@@veritas93 I wish I could say that I thought of it. Candidly, I can't remember what channel I was on when they described this, But, it works.

With most Americans overweight or obese, why is it so hard to find helpful videos like this? Hats off to these guys!
Everyone should have the right and ability to protect themselves no matter what size or shape! Great vid
That is a good solution! And a good tip to keep in mind, we appreciate you sharing it with us. Thank you also for being a subscriber!
That's a great point how to care that magazine I like that thank you
I'm 6ft tall 300lbs.

I use Shapeshift IWB and it works very well. I have a beer belly and 0300-0400 is right for me. Holster does not dig in when sitting, bending, or in my recliner 😊.
Fat guy here getting ready to buy a holster. This video was very helpful. Thank you!
This company has really come a long way over the years. I made my own appendix holster out of some clear poly I got from my local Hobby shop. It came out really well, however my LGS carries Alien Gear Holsters so I’m going to look at them this weekend.
Kudos big man !!! From one big boy to another I thank you for breaking down for us .

Great video! I'm not a big guy myself, more so just Pillsbury dough boy shape. These tips helped alot! The paddle holster is A+ comfortable for riding motorcycle too!
Thank you so much for your insight, Maxwell! I'm a big, short guy too, and this was genuinely really helpful for me. I bought the shapeshift core pack a few months ago and have been struggling to find a comfortable method of carry, so I'm excited to try your methods.
