OH MAN, I totally forgot about the old SPONGE capacitive styluses from the beginning before everyone wised up and went to conductive rubber that was air filled. Then later conductive fabric.
In case anyone gives a rat's ass, TPU is short for "thermoplastic polyurethane" aka "plastic that can be kinda clear and is a bit bendy and squishy". I bought a TPU case for my 2017 phone and it started yellowing by about 2019. You can wipe off the yellowing to some extent, then it starts right up again. I think it's a chemical reaction with some of the more chemically reactive stuff in the air, and it's accelerated by heat and ultraviolet light. This is related to the way old PCs turn yellow with time.
every smartphone I've had up until my most recent one came with free TPU cases in the boxes, I hated those cases because they were also dirt and dust magnets
for the earphone holder things, for pockets, yeah a bad move, for a purse though, brilliant. keys and headphones together in a purse is hell let me tell you, so something to keep that from happening is great.
For pockets that depends on execution, I used the headphone spool that came with Xiaomi Piston Hybrid Pro for the entire life of the earbuds, it made getting them out to listen to faster. A case with a zipper is better at that though, especially for buds with removable cables, like stuff from KZ and Blon. They become easier to separate from the cable as they age and that's infuriating, but still better than being thrown out when the cable breaks. If that happens on a cable spool, that would mean that an earbud now roams your pocket/backpack/handbag/outside thereof freely, while the rest of the headphones stay on the spool.
My dad came home from a secondhand store with that cube speaker a couple years ago. He paid like $1 CAD for it. Weird to see the little nugget in a video, but now I know where it originally came from 😆
TPU is a Thermo Plastic, frankly its one of the most generic types of labels for a plastic thats formed through heat and moulding, also used commonly for 3D printing flexibles.
@@thatguyalex2835 While PLA is used a lot for 3d printing, its not the only plastic you can print; ABS was extremely popular in the early days but became less popular due to the fumes it produces, theres PETG which is basically better PLA, and more i cant remember.
Well, we should get him a battery charge indicator, a battery organization case, and a battery recharging system for rechargeable AA and AAA batteries.
Specifically thermoplastic polyurethane. No wonder it's called TPU for short, most commonly used plastics have long names or are colloquially called by their brand name (just like everyone calls polytetrafluoroethylene "Teflon" instead, or PTFE).

That's why my phone TPU case is 3d printed in a dark-ish purple. You can't see the yellowing.
I had a phone case in 2018 that had the tpu thing and a white hard plastic shell outside and that was fully yellowed within like 5 months 😭

Dank, if you don't know now, TPU is thermo polymer urethane. aka skateboard wheel plastic. So yea.
TPU is just a plastic/rubber. It's pretty strong bendy stuff. 3d prints in it are nearly indestructible, but flexibility isn't always what you want.
i really imagine the talk between 1 Grit and Essential Accessories like Schindler's List
