I was actually sad when you finished your travels in Australia and didn't think I'd keep watching your journey . Now though I'm very envious and loving watching your trip. So thank you and enjoy
To be honest we thought a little of people would stop watching, but we are delighted to still have so many viewers along for the ride! Thanks for sticking with us!
Rothenberg the most romantic town I know. Where you were standing crying on the Marktplaats is where I proposed to my wife, I got down on one knee in front of all the tourists, she didn't dare say no!😅😅😅 I love that place.
Hi Nigel and Sue another great video, with such amazing scenery. When your Australian van life tour was complete, I was really disappointed that things would end there, but we have been pleasantly surprised. You are showing us places that we won't see in our life time and we thank you for that. Such great food and the atmosphere in the towns was great. Stay safe and happy until next time. Coen and Jay xx
No way Jay, I really enjoy the creative process of film-making. Plus it gives me something productive to do while Nigel is working, and provides a boost to our travel fund. Thanks so much for following our journey!
Thanks for sharing. Such picturesque towns and countryside. No wonder this country produced so many artists, philosophers, scientists, musicians, and great contributors to humanity.
Hi Sue and Nigel, wow Thank You for sharing the spectacular villages, such amazing buildings and history, I totally understand why you were emotional Sue- incredible beauty. The parking for Self-Contained Vans is incredible - so clever and practical, coin-operated, and safe - hope that Aussie towns think about this type of installation for their towns. They would increase their visitor rate in their towns and also get some income as well. Given your Aussie travels, hope there are some contacts you can send photos and information to them as a potential idea for them. Loved the video Thank You and super Glad you are having great wins in your travels & the water leak is all remedied. Travel safe and enjoy 👍🏻👏🏻🙏🏻❤️🇦🇺🙋🏻♀️
there are some towns that do have cheap (even free) parking for RVs which brings in quite a bit of business for their towns. I think the bigger issue in Australia is that there are so many vans on the road that are not self-contained, and inevitably the free camps end up being outdoor toilets which is quite disgusting!
Germany is beautiful. As an American, it strikes me how clean it is. Love that. After finding you & following you, I've been watching all your videos. It is quite a contrast going from rural Australia to these towns & cities in Germany. I quite like the rural! Looking forward to your travels.
Thanks for your latest update. So happy to know that your dealership supported you and I love that you gave them recognition. It can't be easy when you don't speak German so good to have someone to assist you with the language barrier. Loved this video and the history of the country. Grateful you share your travels and super happy I stumbled across your youtube channel!
Aww Sue, it's beautiful. I get really emotional when i see such beautiful things too, it's like a pinch me moment that i can't believe im seeing it. I'm sure that's gonna' keep happening everywhere you travel in Europe, it's so beautiful. I love it. 😊 Also, glad the water leak is sorted. Looking forward to next weeks vlog. 😊
when it comes to history, nothing is more interesting than Germany's ... always a source of fascination. Must be the most interesting country in the world I reckon. very under rated
Yes, sadly many people only think of one period of the history, but lets remember there was Luther, Goethe, Beethoven, Wagner, the brothers Grimm, Karl Marx, Boris Becker... the list goes on!
We were in Rothenburg a couple of weeks before you and it took our breath away. Only had the one night there but will be back. Love Germany. Agree on the tap, probably wasn’t left open over the winter and water may have frozen and broke it. Great vlog, thanks
Thanks so much for watching! It's such a beautiful town. Did you stay in the old town? I think it would be amazing to walk around early morning without the tourists.
We stayed down the hill in a nice little campsite about 5 mins on our bikes away. Didn't look quite as busy but it was the end of June and not quite as hot as your day. Yes, will try and get around early next time and also try a few more of their lovely bars an eateries next time.
Good news guys, I have subscribed. I went to my doctors and showed him some of Nigel's celebratory dances and gestures and he assures me that none of them, are dangerous to my health. Just a quick question, who does Nigel support when the Wallabies play the All Blacks?
That brought back memories of 30 years ago when I lived in Germany in my 20s. We stayed in Rothenburg overnight - lucky to get the very last hotel room within the walls. It looks exactly the same (which you dont get to say very often after 30 years). There is also a romantic road in Austria, in case you want to head in that direction. Glad you finally got your water problem sorted. Safe travels and have fun. It’s cold here in Oz.
@@nigelandsueadventures still following your trip. And yes, when you finished your big lap and you exited at North Lakes, I couldn’t believe it. We also lived in Mango Hill (Capestone). Maybe we meet one day when you guys are back.
I enjoyed seeing Munich again and watch the fun at the beer hall. Too bad about the rain. It was super hot when I was there in my younger years. BTW, I loved seeing the stalks, too.
I've sat in that same Hofbrauhaus and enjoyed one of their small beers and a meal with hardly any meat in it during a business trip LOL. You're probably way more savvy than I. During that trip I learned that German meatloaf isn't the same thing as it is here in the US. When my food was delivered (different place, not at the beer hall), I learned there it is a literal translation "loaf of meat." Instead of the delicious slices of breaded beef i expected, I got fried baloney. My penance for not being a better German speaker/reader. Thanks for showing me all I missed, now I'll have to go back someday and catch up! Seeing how the camping facilities are set up in these places is very interesting.
Sorry to hear you didn't have the greatest experience. We find trying the local food (and beer) to be a part of the adventure, but it can be a bit hit and miss!!
@@nigelandsueadventures oh no, it was great. I just didn't have the time to really get out and explore. The rest was my apparently poor attempt at humor (no small beers at Hofbrauhaus!) and being a naïve tourist. The fried baloney was great, just not what I expected. I suppose a German visiting the USA and ordering meatloaf for dinner would have a similar surprise. One interesting bit of trivia I heard was that original Hofbrauhaus in Munich was one of few buildings that escaped Allied bombing during WWII. I recall seeing all the carvings on the tabletops from visitors past. It's a neat place to experience.
@@redforeman-404 its so amazing. I was first there in 1989, then semi-regularly through '93-97, and it hasn't changed a bit! Did you ever eat fleischkäse? Which literally translated means "meat-cheese" - I'm not 100% sure what baloney looks like, but maybe that's what it was!
@@nigelandsueadventures there was so much meat I don't remember all of it. That was a 5 day business trip in 2007, so no time to explore the area much. Baloney is slang for bologna, a large smoked sausage of beef, veal, and pork. The German restaurant served high quality product in thick slices, fried. It was actually quite good. In the US, it's a common lunch meat sold in packages of thin slices for a sandwich. Usually cheaper than deli cold cuts, not usually the first choice of people who ate a lot of it as kids.
right? It's usually just nature that gets me all emotional, but that place is straight out of a fairytale. I'd love to go back and wander around early morning when there's hardly anyone there.
Germany looks like a lot of fun, those old buildings are extraordinary when compared to today's buildings, which l am sure won't be around hundreds of years from now. I hope your travels are smooth going from now on. Look forward to seeing the off grid upgrade. Will be interesting to observing the differences from your Aussie van.
Right? Although I was having trouble lifting mine as I smashed my hand in the back doors of the Sprinter right before we sold it (a parting gift I guess) and it's still sore months later!
You sound a bit crook Sue. That bloody water leak would drive me crazy, good luck, hopefully the long awaited part fixes it. Yes, we also love German, last there in 2017 and my anscestors came from Marbach, West Germany, emigrating to Australia in 1857.
Yeah we had both spent a couple of days sick in bed before this day. It wasn't really camera worthy though!. Armbruster definitely sounds like a German name!
Hi folks. I loved Germany too. We hope to head back, as there is so much more to see. Personally, the only thing I really disliked was the food. All good, I can do with some weight loss. Enjoy guys. The weather home here is freezing, so enjoy the warmth.
Hi Nigel and Sue, when they put the new tap in, I’ll get him to put some tap so you can block them off so if it happens again you can actually turn off the problem anyway use got heads up on it no use some bugger from Australia telling you what to do Cliff from Logan city?
yeah great idea Cliff. I'm planning on adding a drinking water tap + filtration system as the next upgrade - using John Guest fittings - and I'll make a note of adding a shutoff tap at the same time as you suggest. Cheers mate, Nigel
Hey Sue if one beer makes you feel a little better so would six beers cure you completely? I had no idea camping and vanning was so big over there. When you walk around those old buildings just imagine how many people have walked before you. Stay safe
Walking past buildings that are older than the countries of the New World as they are known today, amazing. When you've done all your changes will you need to take the Van in for a inspection to ensure it passes German regulations, like say an MOT in the UK?
Hey Craig. I think it's fair to say I am becoming more and more of an engineer "wannabe". Lol. I've always loved fixing and creating stuff with my hands, so building and/or modifying gear for use on the road, has been some form of natural step.
