Over ninety percent of them live on the African Savannah. South africa , Krueger game reserve, Botswana, the Okavango Delta , and of course on the Serengeti, which by definition means " ENDLESS PLAINS ❗

I'm from Mauritius 🇲🇺there we have an animal park /reserve named Casela with diversity of exotic animals where most are Africans.. It's a tourist attraction.... I went there and we were going to see the big cats (south African lion, cheetahs and Bengal tigers). One of the visitors asked if lion and tiger were pit together, who would win... The guide answered the lion is stronger and can win a fight with the tiger..

This is what I appreciate about lion fans, we can appreciate the beauty and quality of tigers while still accepting the fact that lions have generally been the more dominant cat. Meanwhile tiger fanatics use all manners of insults to degrade lions like calling him a "rat" or a lion being more "dog-like than an actual cat". Every thing you said is wrong. First off, the average African lion weighs between 390 - 440lbs. The average Bengal tiger between 450 - 525lbs and the Siberian tiger between 500 - 600lbs. If you think that is a little bigger, then you need a reality check much more than I already thought you did. Those numbers came from years and years of reading and watching stuff about big cats and bears. I started back in the early 70's and although the hundreds of sources I have seen about average sizes differed slightly, those are the numbers basically all that stuff came out to. In reality, the Bengal tiger is around 50 - 75lbs larger and the Siberian tiger 125 - 150lbs larger. Again, those came from more sources then I can remember. I never consider information that comes from one or two sources as fact. Especially when there are so many more saying something different. Siberian tigers have a bit more fat than Bengals, you got that backwards. In character, WTF? Character like the Lion King or that tiger in Junglebook? Animals have character? Well I mean dolphins, elephants, killer whales, primates and dogs, all have character which is really something mostly humans have. The lion is stranger, more confident? I hope your not trying to say stronger cause that is completely wrong. It has been scientifically proven many times that tigers have more muscle mass and density. That is why they are heavier than lions. More muscle means more weight. Confidence is in all big cats. I mean tigers certainly are not insecure. That is one dumbass thing to say. They rule their world and have nothing to fear. Any so called confidence a lion might have is because they live in groups. They always have others around to help. That is nothing special and so obvious. Humans are exactly the same. We are all more confident and bolder when we are in a group. Not as much when we are alone. The same with lions. Tigers, being a true predator, is a very confident solitary warrior. He knows if he gets hungry, he has to hunt and kill to eat. He knows that he is the only one who will protect that kill as well. Lions on the other hand, will sleep up to 20 hours a day and only get up when the lionesses, make a kill. Then he goes over and steals it from them and his own cubs. Yeah father of the year alright. All big cats fight for mating rights. Why do some morons think that only the lion fights to protect territory and mating rights? ALL BIG CATS WILL FIGHT FOR THE SAME REASONS. Tigers, jaguars and leopards will fight for both those same reasons. Lions may fight a little more in it's life time than tigers but not much. Also the lion will have help in pretty much all those fights. Tigers will always fight alone without any help. Knowing that you are all that you can depend on makes an animal more aggressive and vicious. When an animal has it's back against the wall, it is so much more dangerous than an animal with brothers around to help it. Hell lions take turns when fighting. Tigers can't do that. You again wrong about lions winning more battles. That is bullshit. History clearly shows that when the two have fought, the tiger generally wins. That fact is all over the place. Through all the years I have been reading and watching this stuff, I have come across account after account, story after story, etc. Most of the time, the tiger kills the lion. I have read around 30 different sources about the Roman Coliseum battles. Every one of them stated in one way or another that tigers usually defeated lions. A few had numbers. According to them, around 1,900 fights were held with the lion winning 263 of them. That comes out to be 14% of the time. Again these are numbers I have come across. I have learned everything from libraries, not the internet. The internet is not a reliable place, this video being a perfect example of it. Nothing in this video is correct and was clearly made by a uneducated, bias, delusional lion fanboy. Thinking this is actual real information only shows a lack of education and intelligence on the part of the person thinking that. Like this video, anybody can make something up, say what they want, then upload it. Not reliable. Not just anybody can get something published and that is what can be found in libraries. A few more recent encounters, well more recent than Rome, was in the late 1,800's, a fight between a Barbary lion named Atlas and a man eating Bengal tiger was held. It was a brutal, bloody fight but the tiger ended up killing the lion. Back in 2011, in a Turkish zoo, a tiger got through a partition that separated it's enclosure from a lions next to it. The tiger killed the lion with one paw swipe to the neck cutting it open. The lion died in a pool of it's own blood. The real facts in this world is the tiger is the top cat in the world. The lion is a predator that needs to live in groups to survive.

Tigers also have an equal amount of muscle mass. But, its distributed slightly differently, and Lions are stronger in the forequarters. That source of the Siberian Tiger muscle mass was never shown to be inaccurate. That Tiger just had no fat (it was dead), so his muscle mass appeared to be super high. Had he had the normal amount of fat....his muscle mass would have registered less, compared to his weight.
