Honestly, with the brutality shown in this film and in previous MV films, the MonsterVerse is pretty much just modern Showa era Godzilla and I love that.
I mean, it has come full circle tbf. The Showa era started off with the original movie which we all know was dark and serious, the sequel was still serious but had a bit of fun, then like with Godzilla vs Kong and GxK, it was all fun monster battles from there on out with some commentary
The suits have their charms but I'm just too in love with this Godzilla design to ever actually prefer a suit to it anymore. I've watched Godzilla movies since the 70s and this Godzilla, at least from a design perspective feels like the one I've always wanted..
Junkie XL once claimed that the old, original themes wouldn’t work with the new movies. And every edit I’ve seen so far (granted I’m not actively going out of my way to find them) that’s had them have been great. I do genuinely like his work on these past two movies but maaaaan he really needs to stop doing interviews. He’s doing himself no favours at all.
i love the idea of instead put the normal people screaming he used the screams of the people that we usually see in the movies of the showa era, amazing 10/10 + better than the movie (please next make the first fight between godzilla and ghidorah but with heisei sound effects 🙏)
These edits highlight all the fun stuff from this movie, like Skar King’s tooth flying off and Kong being smug about it, Skar King being fucking huge compared to the people on the beach, monkes hanging from the skyscrapers, etc. For some reason I didn’t really pay attention to this stuff watching the movie (I was focusing on Godzilla I guess)
Agreed, this one was very well done, makes me wish the movies would tone it back on the over the top sound tracks. Hearing the thundering steps and buildings/terrain crumbling was one of my favorite details from the Goji movies
This movie is the most Showa-esque Godzilla movie we’ve gotten in twenty years. Especially with how Godzilla gets massively sidelined, very Showa-esque. (Not hating or anything, I actually loved this movie)

Imagine if Skar King had the same ability like Sanda/Gaira to regenerate from some cells. Kong basically splattered the DNA over the city and if I interpret the glowing eyes right, Skar was still alive when Kong decided to perform as The Hulk.
They should re do the monsterverse films where every sound effect is from the older movies. Kind of like how they made a black and white version of minus one.
I love how the music in the beginning was a reference to war of the gargantuas
