Code 3 for slate soakers is normal in the UK, code 5 would be too thick as slates kick up I'd think no?. maybe on a heritage project but not normal slating mate. What would you use code 5 soakers on?
I prefer using natural slate and if i was slating my own house i wouldn't use fibre cement. Eventually when they loose the surface shine they start looking pretty crappy and are prone to moss growth, which natural slate isn't. Natural slate isn't that much more and is well worth the extra cost.
@@michaelcollins5308 both are good if done right. I use rubber a lot and have no issues, 50 year life expectancy if done per manufacturer specs. Torch on with several layers would expect maybe 30 years or less. But pros and cons for each, rubber is more susceptible to puncture if heavy traffic area, so maybe multiple layer felt better in such an instance. All flat roof products get haters and lovers but I find all are decent if done correctly. It’s finding the right fitter that can be the tricky bit.
Yes mate I have used resitrix a fair amount and found it great stuff to use. Can be a bit pricey so use it for the customers willing to pay the extra, but gets a great finish as you say!
@@davesalter yea in Ireland it's 280 a roll all in mad money hopefully more clients will come around to using as it is a joy toy to use plus need to make back the money spent on leister hot gun 🤣
Looks good. I personally don’t use anything less than code 4 though and normally 5.

@@davesalter I see appreciate that, have you found epdm to be better than torch on?

Should have given the soakers more upstand
It has enough cover at 6cm upstand and the cladding is 15mm thick so does step out from the soaker also. Should be all good mate.
