Absolutely agreed. People are now in full denial. When I first text America, I absolutely hated fat people. I was 11 back then. Overtime I became more mature, and I had a couple of fat friends and are used to drive 20 minutes to pick my fat friend up and we bust ass and drop him back 20 minutes and we kept going and going and going. Unfortunately, he came up with a lot of excuses and stop showing up.
That encouraged me to start a bigger group, so I approached a lot of obese to overweight people in my college, and I grouped up around 50 people but only about 10 showed up and we worked out almost every day.
That was two years ago. I kind of gave up on lifting as well until recently, and it feels great to lift again. I hope I was able to at least influence five of those people to push and bust ass! Anyways, now I’m just going to focus on myself and my coworkers.

In high school I was in a weight training class and I actually got very fit. Upon graduating I made the mistake of going weeks without working out. And then one day I decided to get back in it. But instead of starting off slow and working my way back up, I decided to do full power sit-ups. Next day my abs felt like somebody hit me full force with the baseball bat. That is why you need to start slow and progress. This trainer is a dumb ass and pushing way to hard. I was a trainer for awhile and you need to start a person off slow. There is actual merit to blasting the fat off quickly, but extreme exercise is just going to burn you out.
Couple it with tiny food intake (far far far worse for a person than proper fasting) and you wind up harming yourself in the process.
Best way to slim down quickly in a healthy manner is true fasting and moderate exercise. You can challenge yourself to become more active at a healthy pace, a little bit more week by week.

Don't listen to the people saying "there is merit to blasting the fat off quickly". It's much better to adopt sustainable, lifelong habits instead of having a weight loss mentality. Health is a lifelong journey, it doesn't end when you lose the weight.

Lol my cousin wanted to start working out one time so he goes and spends like 200 bucks on a bunch of stuff to get in shape. He got scammed but the dude working at the fitness shop. Anyways, the first day I’m telling him to stop doing the same thing I’m doing because he’s not in shape. He says “I feel fine” I said ok wait until you wake up. I’m doing squats and bench presses, deadlifts, pull ups, and a bunch of other stuff. I was in great shape and never got real sore after. He wakes up and he can’t even walk😂, after that he never went back to the gym probably til this day like ten years later lol. I told him, when you first start driving do you just go to a highway and do 80 mph. NO you start in a empty parking lot and drive in circles for a few hrs. It’s the same thing with working out, when I start over again I don’t even add weight to anything. I just do the movements with little to no weights for the first few days! I slowly add weight as I go and after 2 weeks of this I can actually add real weight. I learned the hard way and almost dropped a dumbbell on my face thinking I could still lift it. You lose your strength so easily when you stop lifting! I used to lift every other day, the in between days I would do something light like jogging or just stretching.

As an anorexic, you are correct. When I was really in the grips of it, I worked out like crazy. I’d do 100 repetitions of several different palates moves every morning and night, heavy cardio every other day, and weight machines 3 times a week. All while eating a small bag of chips for lunch with a coke, and a single tiny helping of food at dinner. I was taking in easily less than 1000 calories a day. Way too little with that exercise schedule. It took me getting pregnant after I was married to snap me out of it. Even then I’d gag at more than a few bites of food at a time because my brain was seeing my growing body and freaking out, but I knew I had to eat for the sake of my child. I still have to be careful or I’ll easily fall back into it. My health has paid a price for it and it’s heartbreaking watching them force it onto other people for a show.

She reached out to Marci who told her that MTV said she would be monitored by doctors during the process but wasn’t, she was put on a 500cal a day diet, worked out at the gym 4-6 hours a day, and when she complained that she wanted to quit MTV told her if she did she would have to pay them $5 million (apparently written in her contract). She also said a lot of the scenes were scripted.
She answered questions in the comment section of the video also and in response to one question answered that due to the rapid weight loss she developed certain health issue including hair loss and having to be very careful about implementing new foods into her diet as she would gain weight incredibly quickly if she wasn't careful. She said she kept the weight off for 3 years then slowly starting gaining some of it back over the next 10 years.
She also mentioned that her toxic trainer slept with her best friend and sent her pictures and videos of it 🤮

you hit the nail on the head at about the 4:00 mark. As of right now I'm a self recovering alcoholic; addiction is primarily mental, for 10+ years of my life I hadn't gone a day without drinking. It wasn't until I hit absolute rock bottom that I forced myself to make changes (partially because I was a razors edge away from becoming homeless), it's true what they say that the first step is to admit you have a problem but in my personal experience it isn't enough, a good support system is paramount as well as being smart enough to know that I was too dumb to do it on my own. When I finally got back on my feet I knew the moment I had any form of income I would use my money on alcohol, the temptation was always there, I put my mother and brother in charge of my bank accounts and afforded myself just enough to make it to my next paycheck (food, water, transport only) and just did it again and again. No matter how miserable that sounds it still never felt as bad as waking from a night of binging and repeating the process for weeks at a time. I started listing all the positives I was experiencing no matter how small i.e. my memory coming back, no more embarrassing stories, no run ins with the police, appetite returning, healthy skin. I want to say it was about the 2nd month of sobriety that my younger brother asked me why I had suddenly just quit drinking cold turkey and the only response I could give him was I simply couldn't even afford a single beer of the most ratchet kind the day I stopped; a week later I didn't have a compulsion to pick up a beer at all, hell even the sight of the things I used to drink made me nearly vomit. I still use the memories of my former self to keep me on the straight and narrow and write down all of the negative ways drinking impacted my behavior and how it affected my family and relationships. I try to view each day as a small step forward no matter how little that step may be, refusing the mind numbing embrace/aloofness alcohol made me feel as it was a temporary fix to a long term problem.

So her doctor put her on Zoloft which worked... for a few hours until she had a severe reaction to it.
So instead she decided to start working out to deal with her stress instead. She took the initiative to contact a gym, get a private trainer and told him of her issues and what she was wanting to do. She also goes to pilates 3x week.
She's not overweight (in fact, she's a bit under for her height) but has even changed what she eats to promote a healthier lifestyle. No more fast food as that causes her to have a reaction (heart rate related & heartburn). Wish I had that mental awareness when I was her age!

This video brought up many points my father taught me about training. He was a navy instructor and always criticized the people going to the gym. He taught me that I shouldn't feel bad about not lifting alot, because the people who do at the gym usually have terrible form while using steroids to show off to their friends. He tells me to train using a managable weight that allows me to do many reps, but also allows me to feel the burn. He also taught me to do the abs first, because if you do them last you won't have enough energy to do them correctly at the end. Another tip he gave me was to change the order of excersizes on different days, to make sure I can do all the excersizes at full energy.

    • @johndough8115

At my old Kungfu classes... we did three sets of 100 crunches... followed immediately by Leg Lifts and Leg Spins (about 2 to 3 min of leg lift+spin work). Talk about a challenge! The crunches being so fatigued after those three sets... made holding your legs up, 1000x harder. (though, once I achieved a certain level of strength and mastery... I personally then added some angle weights to up the challenge and development)
Form is hypercritical in the combat arts training. You often realize, that if something feels too easy... its typically because your form is incorrect.
A lesser known aspect of strength training, is slow motion training (often seem in arts like Tai Chi). Such as taking 20 seconds per single pushup (10 sec down, 10 up). You cant use momentum cheats, when doing slow motion drills... and it also forces you to be hyper conscious of your form. You gain a much more complete level of strength, all along the entire path of your movements.
A lot of the Bulky lifters, can only lift heavy mass, by using momentum to "throw" the mass up to the point where they can get under it. If you asked them to try to lift the same mass, slowly, without that momentum cheat... they would never be able to do it. Most of their strength, is at the beginning and end of their stroke... with very little, in the middle. A lot of their bulk, is not "Functional" strength. For example... a Rock Climber, will tend to be able to use much more of their strength, "Practically", than a weight lifter.

I always wanted to train in the martial arts, but was poor... so I didnt get the chance, until I was 20. At that point in time, I felt like I had been held back, and I thought to myself... How could I ever catch up in skill level, to kids that started as early as 3yrs old? I decided, that the best way, would be to train much longer, and much more intensely...
My Kung Fu classes, were a full 2hrs long... and there were 4 classes per week. The entire first hour, was a full hardcore "Core" workout. At the time, I was between jobs... so I took both the day and night classes (same material, but more work to do). I was also biking there and back home... with each trip taking about 25 min.
The exercise routine alone, was so brutal, that it took me about 3 months, to be able to fully complete it, without any rests/breaks.
I was not only working at class, however... I did the entire workout routine at home, every single day. Also, I would repeat all of the various drills and attribute developing exercises... all throughout the entire day / night. For example... at work, about every 15 min... Id go to the back room, and do 2 min of a specific drill. It could be as simple as repeated sidekicks... or more complex, as dual-hand sequences, like Parry+strike+kick. I would also do things like standing on one leg, while waiting in long lines (such as, at the bank). If I was walking past a tree, Id pick a high up leaf to target and kick. When walking in the parking lot to the mall... Id be throwing kicks / techs... and when walking down the malls halls... Id constantly be repeating hand techs. In addition to constant bit-training... I also did large block training sessions, at home... after getting home from work... and or after classes. These could easily be 2 to 4 hours worth of nearly non-stop work.
And after I knew what I was doing, and was pretty decent at it... (about 1yr into my training) I started sparring outside of my school... against other arts artists. I eventually got to the point where I was sparring every weekend, as I had formed a sparring group of like 15 different artists.
At that pace, I got into the best shape of my life, in about a years time... and about 3yrs in, I was virtually untouchable to the local blackbelt fighters, and their teachers. By my 5th year... I reached Masterclass level output (flawless execution, and lethal output power levels). Only at that point, I vastly reduce my training time... as I no longer needed to train that much. I just needed to do a few tech reps a day, just to maintain my tools sharpness.
My point is... that there are 24 hrs in a day, and one can manage to find something to do, all throughout the day and night, that challenges the body. You just have to make it a daily way of life. And of course, you should have a strong passion, which will provide the motivation. You also do not need to go to any "Gym", to get strong and fit. Many exercises with your own body mass, are more than enough, to get strong and fit.
That said, I did have some equipment at home. A 6ft tall Muay Thai kick bag. A wall mounted sandbag set, packed with coarse grain beach sand. A 7ft long metal fence pole, used for various arm thrust challenges (+1000 rep thrusts, with the pole mostly hanging to one side.. while maintaining shoulder height), and a wrist strength exercise. Ankle weights, to add more challenge to leg spins and leg lifts. A custom arm weight, tied to the wrists... to use with slow moving arm extensions. A hanging bag full of steel BBs (iron fist conditioning). A rolling pin to smooth the shin bone of any bumps. And a custom sandbag made from a pair of Jean legs, packed tightly with sand, and taped tightly with duct-tape... to form a very hard shin conditioning bag.
But as said, most of my strength, came from standard exercises, such as slow motion pushups, crunches, leg lifts and spins, squats, etc. With cardio, speed, and endurance from 60 second speed drills, +20 min non-stop drills, and sparring sessions.
Now... I wasnt jacked like a body builder. However, I was far stronger than I looked, due to the type of specialized training methods used. IE: Ive been known to move 400 lb arcade machines, by myself... up and down staircases.

I was at a local chinese buffet for dinner on friday night and there was this woman who had to weigh 450 pounds a couple tables away from me who had three dinner plates stacked with enough food too easily feed 4/5 people.
Naturally the servers noticed the overly excessive amounts of food she was taking and told the manager who went over and told her that they were going to be charging her for three people because of the amount of food she was taking and she had a giant meltdown in which she started screaming that they were "fatphobic bigots" and then demanded that someone else "stand up for her" and be a good "ally" by offering to pay her tab so she could "eat in piece".
It's that sort of self entitlement and arrogance that also causes a lot of issues with people like her who want the world too change to suit them rather than changing themselves to suit the world.

I was very obese in high-school for similar reasons to this girl. It took me until i was 32 for me to accept the truth and fixed my problems. I believe the most critical piece is accepting that your body is evidence that you are wholly *wrong* about eating. Most obese people I've known eat entirely from an emotional decision making process, i.e. they eat what they *FEEL* like eating, rather than eating what makes them feel good because they made logical, informed choices about foods and planned ahead, sticking to the plan despite feeling. Letting go of emotional decisions is not something you'll get at the gym. It's not something you'll learn watching infinite videos and reading invite articles on weight loss. It's something 100% mental and it will be achieved entirely in your own mind. You may get help, of course, but the change comes from your mentality. When the eating and nutrition fall into place, the exercise piece will become exponentially more attainable.
I love your videos, brother. As always, thank you for speaking ab objective truth in a format people can digest it. Pun intended.

I woke up tonight at 2:30 am and turned on a RUclips video to watch while I opened the fridge to figure out what to eat. I had a similar experience with a personal trainer. Anytime I told him something hurt he would just not listen and kept pushing. It got to the point where I had to go to the hospital to get x-rayed because I had damaged the ligaments in my sternum because of how much weight I was trying to press. Because of my injuries I couldn't go back to the gym for over a year and by then I gained all the weight back that I had lost. Thankfully now I've gotten back down to an even lower weight simply by doing low intensity cardio daily and watching my diet. Unless you're competing as a bodybuilder you really don't need a personal trainer. Seriously, just get on an elliptical for 30 minutes a day with light weight lifting. I lost over 40 lb that way in a matter of months.

I do Chloe Ting workouts challenges at home since I can't go to the gym and have gained a lot of muscle and look less swollen. Slow weightloss is frustrating but it stays off when it is slow and you gain so much more than weightloss. My back is stronger and I have less pain. However, that’s not all you need to do. Initially you’ll lose a ton of weight, but it will plateau. Eating right is a good first step, just gotta continue the good work by exercising.

Exercise, that is healthy exercise, only contributes to about 5% of weight loss. Diet is by far the most important factor. It has to do with how our bodies store fat. All physiological and biological factors matter in this instance. Refer to Dr. Ken Barry, Dr. Paul Mason, or Dr. Jason Fung. Even Bart Kay has great information on the subject.

Diet is the actual key to weight loss not exercise. The purpose of exercise should be to gain fitness and physical capabilities.
So if you eat 2500 calories a day you will find that your weight will drop even though that for many is considered the maintenance level of the body.
When starting out with exercise at your weight walking and weight lifting would be the best place to start with. And as you start to lose that fat and gain muscle you can get yourself to a point were activities like running can be done which tend to put pressure on the knee joints.
Paleo diet tends to be one of the better healthy diets that people can move to or eating the paleo stye diet but only then having the odd potatoes, rice and bread.

If you ever pick up exercises, just take your time with it. 1 hour a day is enough to stay active. Can't do 1 hour, start with 15 minutes.
Go for walks lasting at least 15 minutes each day. Can't do more than 15? Start small, 5 minutes. Though, don't stay at 5 minutes for too long.
These 2 things that are rather simple may be hard to put into action. Remember this; doing these 2 things help greatly.
If you're able to go for 15 minutes, progressive overload to 30-45-60, so-on minutes. Whatever time you can invest, put it into it. Move to the next number whenever you feel ready, be sure not to do too much, it may be counterproductive!

When I started gaining weight again this year due to circumstances, I decided to turn a negative into a positive. I'll use this opportunity to try to get muscle instead of just ballooning in weight. It's working out so far, and then by the time spring comes around, I'll be doing my best to slim down to a healthier weight.

I was at 262 in Nov of 21 and now im down to 175. I adjusted my food intake and quanity for weeks before exercise. After that i did a slow increase of exercise and have changed it up multiple times. Slow process but i feel better than I have in years and im 43. It can be done and i take no pills or starve myself. Mindset is the biggest hurdle.

As an anorexic I see nothing wrong with starving yourself to lose weight, losing weight is a good thing.

I learned almost all of this in my weightlifting class in high school. It makes me feel terrible that others didn’t have similar programs.

Fantastic take. I was thinking the same thing when the video started and I'm glad you shared the same thoughts. Better to exercise 3 times a week at 20% than once a month at 100%.

Couple years ago my body crashed because I was putting to much stress on it. As I have been working on my health Iv had to take things much slower and it’s been frustrating. This video helped not only on recognizing that slow is ok but also gave me a lot of vital information I didn’t know and can now implement. Thank you for taking the time to make amazing content, I have seen every video more then once and each one has helped me improve in some way.

This is so true. As a skinny guy, people trying to make me work out too hard near the beginning of the process just made me not want to go to the gym again.
If you build it up at the right speed, people won't even notice how much stronger and healthier they become.

I agree 1lb per 5 days isn't bad progress. For example if you add it too 6months which is about 36.6lbs that comes too roughly 16.6kgs when looking long term seems like a decent amount of weight that's been lost which it is.
I think people mainly struggle with 2 components first changing a particular lifestyle that you've most likely falling into hence why it isn't fulfilling and 2ndly being consentsent with the new lifestyle.

I’ve seen people start with diet changes, lose some weight, but not exercise. Then they plateau. Eventually people think that it’s not working so they’ll slip on the dietary changes. It’s very important to follow up the diet changes with exercise.

But the problem is, you will plateau almost immediately for about 3 months. I lost about 9kg in a span of 3 months. After that, I stopped losing weight and then I lost interest in cutting and just weight train and maingain. 😅

Man this was a much-needed video. Recently, in the past couple of years, I gained quite a lot of weight. It always made it hard to recover because I had that mindset of trying to somehow flash it off with crazy workout once every 6 months. What really helped, changing my mindset. Changing how I want to live my life. It really is a lifestyle change. And it is really hard to pindown if you don't focus on it. Suprisingly, learning Japanese has really helped. I considered how my fat ass lifestyle is different than like a usual japanese persons. And it really made me think, "They drink tea, walk to work and take the train, don't drink 25litres of soda/day, and eat fish." Easiest 25lbs of my life.

The traditional American diet of veg, fish, meat, eggs, nuts, fruit, coffee and small amounts of wheat and potatoes is healthy and will keep peoples weight down.
And would be similar to the way japanese, greeks, icelandics and Italians would eat and live.
