So apparently all of the British people in the comments have informed me she said "maths" not "mass" at 23:08. Oops. Maths is not a word in American so you can understand the mistake. Fortunately it doesn't change the contents of the video that much because the argument that comes immediately after it is still true. Though it does provide more hope for Barry as it is much easier to spend a few hours on Khan Academy freshening up on your maths than it is to lose 200lbs.
Edit: Ok.... Mistake number two at 18:30. I realize that 18+8 does not equal 24 hours. In my defense, it's correct in the script; I just read it incorrectly, watched the video like 6 times, and didn't notice. Usually I catch things like that. ALSO in my defense I did the math on half of 16 correctly so all the people telling me I can't do math, EXPLAIN THAT MATH. Well, at least it wasn't a big fuck up like me not noticing that the narrator said Debbie pays 60 pounds a week in rent and not 60 pounds a month. I caught that shit right before I released the video and fixed it as I was doing the final editing. That would have been really bad.

I have a friend who's younger sister is like this, morbidly obese, controlling and demanding with her boyfriends. Funny story though...
My friend noticed his sister wasn't at work one day, since she had recently started working at McDonald's. So he asked her how come you're not at work today? Her response was "you don't know what it's like to be on your feet 4 hours a day"
I mean. Maybe not HER feet. But we're all carpenters and steel workers and do those types of jobs. So there's been many long, sometimes 16 hour days.

@@SebastiansSebastian-fc4pj sometimes i would join landscaping crews during the winter, to help shovel snow. During big storms you can be out there shoveling days straight. Like you'll be at these condos for example, and you'll watch as people get up and leave for work, come home go to bed, wake up leave, come home again, and you've been out there the entire time. Feels like, this ain't fair.
Last time i went out shoveling. It wasn't even normal snow, it was freezing rain which resembled sand. Soon as i cleared a section of sidewalk i turned around and the snow was higher than before i cleared it. It was constantly blowing off the roof. And they wanted me to stay anyway to keep doing that.
I ended up walking off that job because first of all they should have had snowblowers there. They admitted they messed up on that. Also i was soaked because the temp kept changing from rain to freezing rain.

I’m unfortunately apart of the 290-300 club atm, but thanks to your videos, especially this one. I have scheduled an appointment with a obesity therapist and I have slowly started to hit the gym. Last week I can barely run 1/4 a mile without being winded and I can only do 5 pushups. Sit ups 15, and bench 110. I know embarrassing, but now I know my start. I want to be able to run a mile by Christmas. It’s sad that I’m getting the brutal honesty I need from RUclips and not my own family. They tell me I’m beautiful just the way I am. I’m not and it’s time for a change
Update: 1/15/2022 - Wow I can’t believe this blew up. Never gotten more then 2 likes on a comment. Thank you all so much for your support! Honestly, this video was the changing point in my life. Idk if the creator will see this, but if you do sir, your words honestly saved me.
Just to update y’all. My therapist has slowly helped me confront the emotional abuse and is teaching me to love myself again. As a result, I have lost 15 pounds in the last 2 months. Been strength training 2-3x a week. I recently hit a gym mile stone. I can free weight 25 pounds and my legs can press 110. I can now bench 130. And I can run a h whole mile. My mile time is 12-13 minutes.💪
I’m hoping to enlist in the Navy (my dream) by December 2022. Thank you all so much for the loving words. I will continue to provide updates.

Focus more on diet. Losing/gaining weight is 75% diet and 25% exercise. Try intermittent fasting (eat in an 8 hr window, fast for 16 hrs). Your 8 hr window can be anytime during the day. The first week sucks but it's much easier after and by far the simplest way to start losing weight. During the 16 hrs only drink water, lots of it. If your having a hard time you can do straight tea or black coffee (no sugar, creams, milk, lemon; nothing but water and tea/coffee). Absolutely no calories for 16 hrs. And count your calories when you eat with an app (buy a cheap scale to weigh foods), then you'll realize how much your really taking in.

This makes me so, so, so very angry.
I'm American, and yeah, I'm on the welfare system. I suffered a spine injury at 20 that left me in chronic pain, a condition called CRPS. I couldn't walk for 3 years, and it seriously aggravated other medical conditions that I have, including a heart defect. I dropped to 70ish pounds at five foot six inches tall (cyclical vomiting syndrome, my stomach won't empty) and nearly died. Its impossible for me to work a normal job, but you have no clue how much I wish I could go back to that. I was taking a "gap year" when the assault happened and was starting to fill out applications for cosmetology school, and then the plan was to do special effects makeup in Hollywood after that.
I get 700$ a month. I pay the rent, utilities, everything with that and the small income I get from sewing. I get 100$ in food stamps a month, and that's only due to the pandemic. Previously I only got 65$. I get the majority of my food from food pantries.
I WISH the government could maybe cover my mobility aids, like my knee scooter. CRPS is progressive, and I might need both legs removed later in life. I will eventually need a mobility scooter, regardless of leg amputation.
I'm not obese, I'm an average weight. I'm not athletic like I used to be, and I'm trying to get back to that because exercise will slow the progression of my CRPS.
    I. Hate. People. Like. This.
Not because they get more benefits than me, not because their disability is self-induced. But because they're scamming the system and they show no introspection for their situation. Nor are they (well, not every person) working to improve their situation.
I'm trying desperately to improve my situation because I HATE THIS SHIT. I will never get off welfare completely, because even if I got a job in my field, my monthly medical bills are so damn expensive that no entry level positions would get me good enough insurance or pay enough for the shit insurance doesn't cover.
So deeply frustrating that people chose this miserable existence.

My family has inherited cholesterol issues and i would feel it badly in my chest a few years back. Nowadays it's a rare occurrence, but still something I'm trying to keep a lid on with exercise. It's a result of feelers no longer being under the logical.
In a 'man's world' logic and truth are more important than feelings.
Feelers have now taken over the 'societal opinion'.
Logic and truth no longer need apply.
The argument over fat acceptance is the perfect example:
      -
Feelers don't see or use words based upon their definitions.
Feelers see and use words based upon the feeling they generate.
Hence, feelers see 'healthy' as 'happy'.
So when you say 'she isn't healthy' - they hear, 'she isn't happy'.
To the feeler brain (healthy = happy).
      They are interchangeable.
The interesting thing about the feeler brain, is all words that (= happy) can be exchanged with any other word that (= happy).
This is why there are so many hiccups when a logical person is trying to have a discussion with a feeler.
Why they 'just don't get it'.
Definitions are points, expressed in the form of a single term.
Feelers can't grasp logic, and so, they can't grasp points.
When you make points in writing, you'll notice feelers will never argue the logic you're expressing.
It's because it doesn't exist to their brains.
What they do is actually scan your paragraph as 'just a pile of words' - pick out words that 'give them a feeling' - and in turn, respond accordingly.
This is why their replies can be so off track of anything you were talking about.

I went from 33% body to 18% in a year and 6 months. I gained a lot of it back after COVID shut downs and being pregnant, but in 2022 I got tired of the excuses I was making and I hired another coach and she wrote me a lifestyle plan and gym routine. I went from 25% body fat to a healthy 22% and I've gained muscle so it looks a lot healthier as 22% than it did when I was 18% body fat. I am so happy and honestly now, I absolutely love going to the gym. I have a weekly "volume" plan 5 days a week and I can pick and choose what I want to do depending on my energy level or my injuries. It's awesome!

As hard as you say things sometimes, it really does put things in perspective. I lost 65 lbs 2 years ago. I felt so accomplished, and wanted to lose 40 more. But I never really got to the root of my issue. Which is food addiction. The same way people talk about drugs or alcohol, is how I can feel about food. When life is rough, food is my coping mechanism. So I gained the weight back. Not all at once, but I was in a very mentally, emotionally and spiritually draining relationship for 8 months. During and after that relationship is when I put on the weight and FAST! I’m starting my journey again, but this time I’m more conscious and open about my feelings + addiction to food! A few drinks won’t make you an alcoholic but it is an addictive substance and over time it’s more than you deciding you want it, your body starts telling you that you need it. It has been hard for me to hear the voice of “the ring” because your mind knows best how to lie to you, persuade you, etc. I’ve had to adopt a “no, never” policy. No matter what thought or feeling, the answer is no. I don’t let my mind have debates with “the ring” because the enemy knows me too well and will win if I give it an audience.

Ive figured out why people hate being fat so much. Its one of the only things you cant hide, someones first impression of you when they meet you is "this person has an eating addiction". They know and you know they know it. All these fat acceptance and recent movements are trying to ban shaming. These are the enablers. Good work TBYS keep it up.

    • @DenerWitt

I think most times when we chose to change we shame ourselves you know?

    • @zalamael
      @zalamael 3 года назад +25

@@DenerWitt The problem is that the mainstream media frames everything in such a way as to only have two possible options, which are extremes. Black and white, with no shades of grey etc. In the case of obesity, you are either body positive (which is enabling), or you are a fat shamer. This of course isn't true, but the moment you refuse to be body positive, you will instantly be branded as a fat shamer, even if you are being gentle and offering a balanced perspective.
The simple reality is, losers are terrified of shame, and they are very delusional, and they surround themselves with people who buy into their delusions and willingly lie to them to protect their feelings. So even if you are gentle, you are showing you refuse to buy into their delusions, and they will hate you for it, for choosing reality over their feelings, and they will instantly play the victim, in order to paint you as a fat shamer, to get everyone on their side against you.
The enablers are often in the same boat, they are losers who willingly buy into the lies because they are terrified of being shamed as fat shamers, because they lack the confidence, courage and self esteem to be honest. So what you basically have, is a circle jerk of losers, all backing each other up, all buying into each other's lies and delusions, all desperately protecting each other's feelings. But in reality, they are holding each other down, and they will resist any attempts to force them to face reality in an attempt to lift them up.
Ironically, because they all know they are lying to each other and to themselves (deep down), they suffer perpetual cognitive dissonance, which manifests itself as mental health issues, namely anxiety (caused by fear of being forced to face reality), depression (caused by the subconscious recognition that they are losers) and stress (the never ending state of denial and awareness of their denial causes a never ending state of stress, which exacerbates their health problems, particularly heart disease, as it disrupts their HPA axis).

I’ve heard a lot of overweight people say that their underlying medical conditions haven’t been treated in the past because when they see doctors the only thing they’re told to do is lose weight. I think that although weight is important, doctors still need to do thorough assessments. I’ve never had this issue being underweight, they always give me whatever tests I need and listen to my symptoms and never say it could be my literal abnormally low weight. So I think there’s double standards, and I think medical care for larger bodies is a lot harder. I’ve heard of people dying because doctors ignored their symptoms and told them to just hit the treadmill instead of sending them to a hospital or a specialist. So there’s the patients point of view for you.

@craigHaving weight or eating issues can lead to medical problems, but that doesn’t mean fat people can’t have illnesses like anyone else would??? When fat people get colds it’s not because they’re fat… when they get a viral infection, break a bone, struggle with mental illness, cancer, stds, etc. it’s not because of their weight. This mindset is the exact reason why so many sick people go to hospitals for help and get nothing but shame and an early grave. Most people with severe weight issues have an eating disorder of some form, and extreme obesity is a lot different than someone just being slightly overweight. It’s an entire spectrum just like skinny peoples bodies are, some people are naturally skinny, others just don’t let themselves eat. So it’s a mix of genetics, eating disorders, and people that don’t have access to healthy food.

many mental illnesses are directly related to not getting enough exercise, and you can 100% contract stomach cancers from fatty, processed foods. The excess fat is just a side effect of these peoples eating disorders. You need to approach carefully with eds because they come from a place of trauma and insecurity. It’s not about losing weight, it’s about getting to the mental place where it’s possible for you to eat normally and begin to function, and only when these people get mental help do they actually lose weight and keep it down. Dr Now in this show is a really good pillar of support and encouragement, and he’s realistic about these peoples health without body shaming them. Binge eating is one of the most ignored diseases, anorexics get treated like babies whereas these people get called fat 2000 times a day and have no sympathy. because it's generally something you can control and it's 100% self inflicted.

I moved in with an aunt of mine in high school to help care for her; she was also morbidly obese. She, too, would occasionally go on a ‘diet’, during which she would switch from drinking regular Dr. Pepper to drinking Diet Dr. Pepper and she would eat salads drenched in ranch dressing, bacon bits, cheese and crushed up potato chips 🤦‍♀️. Like this woman in the video, she was also an absolute tyrant. She verbally and mentally abused her browbeaten husband and she treated me like her servant. After a while, I realized I wasn’t there to help her, she just wanted someone to enable her lifestyle. Buy her the junk food, prepare it for her, bring it to her, clean up after her, do her laundry, clean her home. When her husband went to the grocery store, he had to be on the phone with her the whole time and Lord help him if he bought the wrong brownies or potato chips. One time I brought her some Wendy’s, and the fries weren’t exactly how she wanted them, and she flung them across the room at me. Why didn’t we stand up to her, quit enabling her, you might ask? I was a minor at the time, and really didn’t have much of a choice. I lost my parents when I was 3 years-old and I had lived with various family members throughout my life, so I really didn’t have anywhere to go. As soon as I turned 18, I moved out. I couldn’t take the abuse any more. Nothing ever made her happy. The way I cleaned, cooked, shopped, nothing was ever good enough. I never heard “thank you”. I was in school and taking AP classes, doing massive amounts of homework, working full time and handing her my entire paycheck, and caring for her around the clock. Nothing was ever good enough. Her husband, I’m not sure why he wouldn’t stand up to her. I heard from relatives that he left her a few years after I moved out. She passed away in 2007. It’s sad because her quality of life was terrible, but her wrath would befall anyone who tried to help her change or get better. I notice a pattern among obese people, they are tyrannical to everyone around them. My aunt kept tabs on her husband like this woman does, because she knew he wanted to get away from her the moment he got the chance. Obese people blame everyone but themselves for the situation they are in and they are the most entitled people I’ve ever come across.

Its ironic that she switched from regular Dr. Pepper to diet Dr. Pepper as part of her 'diet' due to one thing. The diet version of soft drinks does indeed have less fat in them so it gives the impression its better to drink than the regular version when it comes to losing weight. The problem is that the removed fat has been replaced to a higher amount of sugar which gets converted into fat after consumption. This means the diet version will make you fatter than the regular version would so the diet version is pretty much a scam.

@@Maki-00 A safe bet is to just talk to your doctor for advice. They'll tell you if your injury/disease or just general physical condition makes it more advisable to use a scooter or walker. When it comes to fat people, they might be advised to temporarily use a scooter for shopping, but they might be adviced to walk as physical activity at home. Honestly being 300lbs+ is crazy. You have to eat a crap ton to even maintain that weight. Just switching soda to diet soda would take pounds of by the dozens.

An interesting part about Lord of the Rings is that Frodo is chosen to bear the ring not because of what power he has, but rather what power he doesn’t have. The ring corrupts whomever wears it, so if Gandalf, Galadriel or Aragorn were to fall under the ring’s influence, Sauron would have powerful additions to his army capable of bringing his enemies to their knees. With Frodo, all he would have is a low level grunt. Yes Frodo is resourceful and brave, but the corruption gradually but surely replaces the wearer’s mind with its own. If LotR was written as an anime today, it would be called “The Non-Powered Halfling Is The Perfect Scapegoat for the Demon Lord’s Ring.”

Even more than what would happen if he was corrupted, the ring's influence is stronger with more powerful people. Hence why a simple hobbit with no greater ambitions than to enjoy a simple life in his home is the perfect bearer for the ring, and could carry it for a long period of time while gandalf was terrified of touching the ring for even but a fleeting moment. Nevermind that Sauron would not expect the forces of good to trust such an object to one of the weakest, least important races in middle earth.

    • @nathanjora7627
      @nathanjora7627 2 года назад +22

As thorveim pointed out, although yes Frodo does make for the perfect scapegoat, the actual reason he’s chosen is because hobbits have very little desires, both in amount and magnitude, all they want is a simple life spent with friends, family and good food, which doesn’t give much for the ring to leverage in order to corrupt them, unlike dwarves, humans and even elves who all have grand ambitions in one way or another, especially humans.

Your words around addiction are very wise - I have been struggling with a nicotine addiction.
I smoked for around 3 years straight, quit for a year, relapsed for 1.5 years, quit for a year, relapsed again for 6 months, quit for 5 months and now have been smoking for a week.
The start of every relapse started with one puff or one cigarette (usually from a friend, or family around), every time without fail.
My weakness to nicotine has been perpetuated by life events that have stripped a lot of my confidence. I have been making strides lately (even with this latest smoking phase), small steps in positive directions, more socialising, pushing myself more at work, and reaping rewards.
    Keep making these videos, cheers
