- I went to Elmhurst, Queens in New York to try Filipino Foods for the first time. See me try Chicharon Bulaklak (deep-fried ruffled fat) and react to Chicharon Bulaklak dipped in cane vinegar. I also tried pancit palabok (Filipino noodles) and bistek tagalog (Filipino bistek). For dessert, you can see me try mamon for the first time (it's a Filipino sponge cake topped with cheese). This was an amazing experience of discovering new Filipino foods that I had not tatsted before. Trying Chicharon Bulaklak might have been my favorite taste of Filipino foods ever. The food of the Philippines has so much to offer, go explore Pinoy cuisine!

Chicharon Bulaklak goes really well with beer! And the bistek tagalog, the one you had may had been cooked with lemon. But the original recipe is with calamansi.

Bistek is actually one of the best beef dishes in the Philippines. Easy and fast to make. I eat this at least 4 times a month.

It's really nice seeing you eat and enjoy our foods. One good thing about Pinoy dishes, you can customise how it taste by doing your condiments (me, i usually prepare calamansi, soy & mashed chili). I usually put half a spoon for every mouthful. You can eat the chicharon bulaklak w rice but we usually have that as beer food (pulutan). It's dipped in vinegar w patis, crushed garlic (to counteract the cholesterol) and sliced chili. Hope you can visit us again. Ingat, 'tol (short for "utol" wc means brother).

I chanced upon your videos and watched a few. I was surprised by your interest in Filipino food. Thanks for appreciating that part of our culture. I grew up eating Filipino food and it’s the best. We have all sort of dipping sauce and the taste differs from province to province. e.g. Dinuguan is cooked with coconut milk (burnt by putting in some burning charcoal into the shredded coconut before extracting the milk), some with vinegar or maybe used some chopped unripe jackfruit or unripe banana as an extender (there’s an explanation for this but maybe I’ll share it some other time haha)There’s so much more to try but the best is to really go to the Philippines, travel from province to province,explore and taste the food. And maybe when you are done with that, you can consider travelling to Thailand because they also have amazing food in there. I wish someone could help you hold the camera or at least maybe a small tripod so you could really concentrate devouring the fool and showcase to your viewer. I mean If I am free from any work obligation I would love to accompany you. Hahaha just a wishful thinking on my part. Keep on doing what you’re doing. Cheers!

Hi! I have been watching your videos for awhile now and I always notice you ask the person which condiments go with the food. Rule of thumb, for foods with soup, like Sinigang, Bulalo, Nilaga, condiments to get is fish sauce (Patis). For foods with sauce, like Menudo, Mechado, Afritada, Dinuguan, etc. go well with fish sauce as well. For Kare-Kare, only bagoong is best! For fried food, like fish go with soy sauce with calamansi, for chicharon with vinegar, Lechon with Mang Tomas, fried chicken with catsup or Mang Tomas as well. I hope to see you again eating Filipino dishes. More power!
