You should have notices during credits that some structures have been made on native lands without permission of the people. Mount Rushmore was created on the Black Hills, a site that is considered to be part of the Holy Lands of the Lakota (Sioux) Nation.
The United States government stole the Black Hills from the Sioux Nation in 1876. They were to be given back to the Lakota in the Treaty of Fort Laramie, but a few years later the United States illegally seized the land and nullified the treaty with the Indian Appropriations Bill of 1876, without the tribe's consent. That bill "denied the Sioux all further appropriation and treaty-guaranteed annuities" until they gave up the Black Hills.
*How ironic that Theodore Roosevelt is included on this structure "due to his efforts of conservation," because it was he who stole the land in the first place from the Lakota and he that authored the Indian Appropriations Bill that nullified the promise to return the land to the native Americans.*
There are still calls for the government to give the site back to The People and allow then to assume management of the land.

oh wow who cares, if they want their land back take it back.
must be miserable bringing politics into everything

@@thatundeadlegacy2985if that's the case, then why are the majority of documentary channels and PBS specials now including those very notices in their videos? It's not politics to discuss how many darker-skinned people have been subjugated and marginalised to the point of being literally forgotten to history, because history is usually only written by those who ride rough-shod over their bones and emerge victorious after slaughtering them with more powerful weapons. But in case you didn't know, those minorities *still exist.* Only they have been moved from *their* homes to live in shit and squalor in slums and ghettos.
But I suppose that, with your screen name, you don't much care about such people and what they have gone through under a more powerful and soulless people. Here's hoping that your presidential hopeful gets what's coming to him and never serves another day in any office in the land.

Excuse me, but Mount Rushmore was commissioned to keep Cíbola hidden from Nic Cage. And it failed because I mean, c'mon. It's Nic Cage.

Wow .... There is so much to see , It really opens my eyes to how much we just don't know is out there i our little bubble and with the internet and the knowledge to do traveling correctly while using videos like this *even if they are A.i clickbait" They still help to find the BEST travel ideals, That cathedreal was insane, its so calming, I'm a christian so i'd visit purely for the archetecture as there is some issues with conflicting faiths at leasts for catholic vs protestent, but You can make it what you want , worship and dedicate how you wish , the father knows your heart, (This is not meant as an offense as there a are plentiful could intentions in humanity) My point is, Visiting all of these places simply for the sake of capturing the beauty of the archetecture as long as your hearts in check, I'm awe struck by what exists, I'm 29 and while i'm still young I want to travel the world like this, I will def use these vids as a guide, thats assuming I won't be broke haha
Great video, such marvels out there.
