This is a great idea. You could try moving the back end of the barbell up higher too, maybe by attaching the landmine to the wall. It would change the torque curve through ROM so that weight is heavier at the top where your quads are stronger. Sort of like a pendulum squat!
That’s a pretty good idea. I feel like this is a good torque curve though because it’s almost opposite of a normal squat. We’re used to the weight being easier at the top than the bottom where this is the hardest at the bottom.
I'm going to use this setup plus a band added for the 20 rep super squat program. Great for alone lifters, and if we stand on cinder blocks, we can go lower at will. Good for guys with long legs.. Good vid..
I've been doing belt squats with 80 Kg at the cable machine and it is nice. But I think your setup using the landmine is better. I'm going to give it a try just tomorrow.
The feet need to be more up at an angle, instead of on a flat level surface. Not sure how that will affect balance though with this set up. Really good idea though.
I don't have my chain going down in a V shape. My chain is horizontal across me, then from the middle I have a carabiner with another chain that goes straight down and under the barbell then back up to the same carabiner. This keeps the chain away from my thighs.
First off, I actually see his toes coming off of the ground toward the beginning. However, the heal looks pretty firmly planted. Secondly, what do you mean by "proper form"? I think the one form issue to worry about on this lift is making sure the belt is being worn in a manner in which there is no shearing force on the spine. Other than that, it depends on what muscles you want to be focusing on.
I have the exact same setup but a little more on the poor side. I LOVE mine.

cinder blocks is actually what i use with the above. Cinder blocks at home depot ran me 6 bucks for 4 of them.

Sweet set up

Omg!!
That's what I needed!
Tnx!
Great idea!
Cool idea!
That's awesome. Thx for the idea
Any tips on reducing inner thigh chafing from the belt/chain? Gets bothersome if I want to do higher volumes.

Can lowerback be hurt during this?
Use your legs
Only if you have the belt too high at the back.
How do you get into the belt ?
Good video, thanks
simple et efficace 👍👍
I love it!!!
Oh dang, that's cool!
Think I’ll try this. Appreciate it.
Great vid.Thank you
As a second thought, I'm assuming this setup is good for self unload drop sets as well..
Interesting
👍
Hahaha this is great, so much better than the 2x4's and stuff because it uses stuff you already have.
Now that is a beautiful brain you have there 😎
Nice
Its big brain time
RLTW
Get a Spud Belt Squat belt.
Looks like you’re pushing off of your toes so the movement doesn’t look too fluent for correct form
